I dunno about the redesign...kind of looks like a cross between the scarlet pimpernel and the punisher. Either way it's crack...if it IS Jason, I'd sure love to know how he crams his head in that helmet. It's been called the gelcap, the pill, and lipstick head. Looks like a dildo to me (I don't even wanna know how that stops crime!) Anyway you slice it, dude is weird. Maybe Jason got ahold of Pyg's formula and can reshape his head at will. After all, if he's been a tentacle freak, why not a pillhead freak? Maybe he stole the bubble from Freeze and had it dyed.

It's completely ridiculous, but cool in a bizarre way.

Doesn't that pretty much describe B&R so far anyways?

I won't judge for now, but it seems promising.

And since Morrison already confirmed Todd would be appearing, I can't help but assume it's him under the hood.

the design is certainly eye catching. has a refreshing sense of humor too.

I see no problem with this fitting the tone of Batman & Robin....fitting what we know of Jason Todd on the other hand I'm not so sure. He's not exactly an ironic or goofy kinda guy.

I don't disagree about the proportions in the art.

I DO like the look. I haven't figured out why, quite yet. The design of the costume itself has good classic costume design sensibilities, not that far from Batman's costume itself - gray. High-necked cape that drapes over shoulders. Gauntlets. Bright logo on the chest that draws fire toward the heaviest body armor.

However, it's actually even more practical than Batman's costume. The cape is shorter, and there's no way he's going to trip over it, since it falls just past his knees. The Red Hood itself is probably more armored than Batman's cowl.

I don't know why they chose the red skull to be the symbol, but it's really, really cool. If the artists would just fatten up the helmet just a little (all it's got to do is look like it would fit on a normal head), awesome.

The previous Red Hood look Jason was using wasn't a look at all. It was just him in civilian clothes and a red faceplate. His attempted takeover of the Batman identity (and indeed, most of his thought processes following Bruce's death, and hell, the Red Robin incident in Countdown) must have illustrated to him the effectiveness of the dramatic, flair for the theatrics, could do.

I even like the kind of "Tarantino/Rodriguez" way his holsters are on the small of his back and he's dual wielding red pistols like he's in one of their movies. He's like the Boondock Saints, only in a costume.

The perfect foil for Dick Grayson. And possibly the best example of an Anti-Batman in history, because up until now, none of the Anti-Batmen (Deadshot, Deathstroke, etc ...) have actually been trained by Batman himself.

Up until now, has Dick Grayson ever actually had an Arch-Enemy to call his own? Bruce has Joker. Even Tim has Anarky.

One excuse I can give for why the head/helmet seem so small compared to Red Hood's large torso - he may wear a much heavier body armor than Batman would wear.

Didn't Morrison say that it's not who we think it is? It sounded like he was saying it isn't Jason.

I hope it's the Joker. It's about time he got his identity back from Jason.

Dick had Blockbuster during his own series, so yes he's had an archenemy. Two-Face probably counts too, given their history together.

And I agree that the costume is pretty cool. But I doubt it's Jason under the hood. Seem a little too obvious. My bet would be on it being the Joker, gone back to his roots and looking to parody the Batman/Robin dynamic for his own sick amusement with Scarlet

The only problem I have with Two-Face as Dick's archenemy is... Two-Face himself doesn't see it that way. He fears and respects the old Batman much more. Maybe that'll change in Winick's run, I dunno.

Well in Robin #0, Two Face says he hates Robin more than Batman.

But anyway, Dick had a good arch enemy in Blockbuster.

Now that I think about it, the "pillhead" look kind of fits with the overall oddity and weirdness (not to mention scarlet). That might distract enemies during fights, wondering how the heck his head fits in that tube...

Course, Red Hood could be a shorty...the cap might be false, with his head actually inside the shoulder area, like those mascot suits!
