Rock Band or Guitar Hero?

Is there a difference?

I'm going to get one for PS3 and was wondering if anyone had an opinion on if one was better then the other.

I also can't stand Activision, especially when they went on record saying Harmonix copied them.

Or, you can buy one set of instruments, which for the most part works on both systems, and pick up used copies of the games on the relative cheap and not really care which platform you get.

Not to mention their current stated policy of only being interested in franchises they can exploit on an annual basis.

Or their efforts to stop/slow publication of a game they passed on because of who picked it up. A game I'm more interested in than anything Activision has/will put out this year.

Oh, I almost forgot, to share music you've made on Rock Band you only need to buy the front-end software which is coming out soon; for music sharing on Guitar Hero, you need to pay per song that YOU upload.

Rock Band has a lot more DLC than Guitar Hero. You can export Rock Band songs to Rock Band 2 for a pittance so you don't have to swap discs to play all the tracks. I like the World Tour progression more than the way GH handles it.

However, Guitar Hero wins in some other categories. I think overall gameplay is better, especially their skill based money system. If I get 100% on a song, I should be rewarded for it. I also think their character creation system is much better than Rock Band, who didn't improve it at all from RB1 to RB2.

But ultimately that stuff is bells and whistles. They are music games, and Rock Band has more/better music selections.

I prefer Rock Band over Guitar Hero simply because of the set list. RB has way more songs compared to GH.

If you are more into Guitar playing I would go with Guitar hero. The finger combos rock band tries to throw at you always seem weird to me and they don't flow as well as Guitar Hero.
