I'll wait till the movie reviews give it a good enough review. If it is then I might see it in theaters.

I predict a quick fade from theaters for this. The leaked trailer made it look both cheesy and a bit slimy.

Which. . . is. . . . exactly what it's supposed to be.

I don't think it'll do well at the box office. It's aiming at a very select audience.

Yeah, 'cause only people who frequent the arthouse theaters would go for this kind of thing.

I wonder how Lionsgate will market this and if they have the resources and willingness to market it. It is going to be an R rating for sure.
The Punisher was also put out by Lionsgate and that disappeared quickly from the movie screens.

Depending on how much this film was made for, given that it was independently produced, with no major studio money, Lionsgate and the independent investors could see a sizeable return if they strategize their marketing towards opening weekend, and furthermore picking the right weekend. Lionsgate seems to hang back on their summer releases, 'cause they know there's no point in trying to compete with the major studio offerings, so they may shoot for late spring, but they have to make sure to distance itself from Iron Man 2, which is in early may. They might be able to slide the movie into a June weekend.

I'm always amazed when people say the trailer looks Cheezy or the costumes look stupid.
Isn't that the whole point, the whole premise is normal (I use that term advisedly) people deciding to be super-heroes and making their own costumes.
There is no "Unstable Molecule" uniforms (TM Reed Richards Inc) there is no Mrs. Hogenson (Designer to the Hero Set) there's just do it yourself dyes, Ski Masks, painted kevlar etc.
So far from what I've seen they captured the look of the comic perfectly and it looks, dare I say it, "Fun".
I have a feeling although this won't be a blockbuster hit, they're going to easily make money on it.
Roll on a European Release, I'll be first in the queue.

When the hell did I mention arthouse? Here's an idea; you actually READ my post, then give me a proper reply. I meant that not many people are going to want to see kids violently attacking people, so try not to jump to conclusions.
BTW, using the 'roll eyes' smiley doesn't make you look clever. It makes you look like a complete jackass.

Of course, dear, whatever you say, dear, right away, dear, I'll get to it as soon as I finish digging this ditch....oops, sorry, I thought it was the wife!
Damn, I hope she doesn't check this board!

I have heard that the budget was around 60 million.
They were here for quite some time in Toronto shooting principle photography, then they went to London, England to finish it up.
Quite a big budget for an independently financed film.

Which may work for fans of the comic, but I don't see many movie goers beyond that finding the idea of wisecracking middle-schoolers blowing away mobsters with magnums particularly charming.

First, no one aid anything about the costumes looking stupid. Second, the trailer itself doesn't support your description. It shows these supposedly "normal" kids doing all kinds of non-normal kid moves and stunts while blasting away with their huge guns, which makes it look like any other action movie, except with kids in costumes.

Actually, Kick-Ass himself is fairly normal.
It's Hit Girl that pulls the standard comic book level stunts. And she's been trained her whole life to do just that. Although she primarily keeps to using her swords in the comic.
