Now I'm not asking which was the best movie, I'm asking about Bale's performance. Even if he has fewer screen time in TDK, his Performance left me very disapointed. Though I didn't noticed this until today when I watched BB and TDK Back to back. In BB Bale's Batman had a certain frustration to his demeanor that was palpaple, and while I would expect Batman to be more introverted (like Keaton) it certainly made his Batman feel more like a young idealist, which reminded me to Batman in Year One. Even his horrible, horrible Batman voce wasn't bad at all. Something was lost in TDK however. While in Batman Begins it seemed as if Bruce Wayne was feeling anger and frustration in TDK it seemed as if Christian Bale was faking anger and frustration.

IRC that while filming BB, the Batsuit gave him headaches and he decided to ''use it'' in a form of method acting (similar to how Heath Ledger asked to be hit for real in the interrogation scene to make sure it looked realistic). So maybe the robes make the monk?

Slightly better in BB
Although, his acting the interrogation in TDK was absolutely phenomenal
You could FEEL that he was at a loss of what to do

I actually thought the interrogation scene was completely carried by Ledger Bale only snarled a bit and threw Joker around (which was typical of batman in nolans films) it was ledger who did the real work I could have played batman in the scene and it still would have been good.

I think no one wants to admit Bale was on complete autopilot in both films in comparison to what he is capable of it was even worse in TDK he really did just phone it in imo.

What happend to that electrifying guy who had me spellbound in American Psycho? i know its a different role but he just had a perfect intensity that i thought would have made an amazing batman.

 remember that scene when the guy has a better laminated business card and that look on bales face?

He was a tad better in Dark Knight, but realy he was still pretty horrible.

I thought he did well in both. He was just overshadowed by....pretty much everyone in TDK.

Oldman stole the show for me in TDK. When Gordan came back after I thought he was dead, that was one of the best parts to me, everyone clapped! Bale is still one of my favorite actors though, along with Oldman.

Somewhere after Batman Begins, success seems to have got to his head. He needs to clear it,and quickly.

Well he's a better actor than anyone else who ever played it. I'd say he was the best Batman ever.
And the voice is fantastic it makes perfect sense.

He's clearly been on the steroids since BB but the transition between the 2 movies was perfect.

Begins was more focused on his characters. TDK had so much going on, there was not much there for him.

I also noticed he bulked up quite a bit more for Begins. In TDK, he did not look like he'd been lifting or anything in preperation for the role.

begins was just a better batman movie period. thats why bales performance in it was better.

Agreed.

I like The Dark Knight a lot. I think the two are great together, but, I have to say that I think, technically, Begins is the better film. If even just for the better pacing.

When you listen to Batman Begins, it really sounds like Bale went in to re-record his lines. In Dark Knight it sounds like the sound they picked up on set was left in. You can hear his nose being covered by the mask, and adds a nasal quality to his Batman and makes it harder to understand.

I think Bale was a spectacular actor in both films.

however, i think the difference was that Heath Ledger in TDK was so catagorically unbelievable of an actor that Bale was a bit in his shadow.

However, i must say that interrogation scene with Bale had such a dynamic between him and The Joker that it was just magnificent.

You could tell how he was both angry, and frustrated, and scared for rachel and he knew there was nothing he could do about it.

(oh, and i didnt know Ledger asked to be hit for real in this scene. Damn. Thats amazing)

But i think the focus was more on Batman's character in BB, and in TDK it was about how he was incorruptable and much more and how he was really becoming The REAL Dark Knight.
