But what i'm really waiting for is REACH!! .

I was just wondering if we really need another game. This one does look good, and different, but I'm just worried the franchise is becoming stale. Halo Wars sucked, let's face it. And this new anime-style Halo: Legendary (or something) looks.... really strange.

Halo Wars kicked ass. Not quite at WC3 level but still good. How are you going to say that a series is becoming stale when they just did something radically different with it?
And what the hell is Halo Legendary? There's ODST and Reach, neither of which look anime-like in the least.

I believe he's talking about Halo Legends, a group of anime vignettes similar to Batman: Gotham Knight. It's going to be available on DVD and XBL when they launch Halo Way point, a place for all Halo fans to go for Halo info, videos, etc.

I'm really only interested in the multiplayer maps, since they're nearly all of them are out right now as purchasable DLC and I can't play most multiplayer games without them.

Sorry I did mean Halo Legends.
I was really excited when I heard about Halo Wars and played the demo, but I just thought it didn't really deliver. The plot was okay, but I didn't like the style or the big boss battles, they kind of repeated themselves. I don't mind strategy games, or when a series changes its game style, I just think they should have done it better.
I haven't heard of Reach, though.... what is it?

I'd have to imagine that any insightful review would come about in a few days, a game like this, to my experience, is best enjoyed with friends, and if possible, online.
Unless the story is of Combat Evolved levels, which would shock me, personally.

I was all for it when it was priced appropriately. But a $60 for an expansion pack is crazy talk.

I enjoy the Halo games but I'm not really into it or anything...so I'll probably put this ame on hold until after the holiday season when there's less coming out.

I started a new thread about this. Someone really should merge them.
I got it. I really like it. The story is different from the other stories. Honestly it hasn't entirely sucked me in. However, I like the changes in gameplay. I think they are different enough that it works.
I also hate how people keep complaining about the price. I've been playing for about 4 or 5 hours. I might be a little more than half way. That puts the game around 7 or 8 hours which really isn't short by today's standards. I've played a ton more too with co-op and firefight.
Firefights really needs a matchmaking feature.

It's a legitimate complaint. It's an expansion pack. Since when were expansion packs full price? And no, slapping a second disc with DLC everyone already has doesn't make it alright. Some people would understandably be annoyed at the prospect of paying for the same content twice.

Yea but since you ignored the rest of my point I guess you didn't read it.
An expansion pack is something like The Pitt in Fallout. You get about 3 hours maybe more if you push it.
Halo ODST is nothing like that. There is about 8 or 9 hours of gameplay with a whole new multiplayer format.
I think the real issue is that games are only 8 or 9 hours now. Halo 3 ODST has nothing to do with that.

A part of me wants this game simply because I know a few friends of mine will get it and that means online play with them.
On the other hand, the only game I played (Halo 3) I was greatly disappointed in and really have no urge to play any Halo game ever again.

No, an expansion pack is something like Shivering Isles in Oblivion, The Lost and The Damned in GTA4, Wrath of The Lich King in WoW and so on. All of which add just as much, if not more content to their original games than ODST does for 1/3rd of the price. People keep saying that ODST has a new campaign and game type like that's unusual for an expansion. It's not.
And don't get mission packs confused with fully fledged expansion packs. ODST isn't doing anything that justifies charging 2 or 3 times more than these sort of things usually go for.

Isn't it pretty typical of sequels to have the same core gameplay but with a new campaign and a new mode or two? I'm not really seeing the big deal here.
8-10 hours is a pretty standard time for a non-RPG game, and always has been.

This isn't a fully fledged sequel. It's an expansion pack. And people are being charged for multiplayer modes/maps they bought in 2007. That's the problem. It sets a bad precedent.
Copy/pasting the multiplayer from a previous game and charging $60 for it is not typical and I'm shocked that so many people think it is.

I would argue that you are not paying for the old DLC, more that it is simply a bonus disc. Buy the game, get some free DLC you might not already have.
The proper game seems to be a full new campaign as long as the other Halo games, and new multiplayer stuff. Seems like a new game to me, or close enough to it. Why is this campaign unworthy of being classified as it's own game? It's more than what games like Madden trot out every year and charge full price for.

Played it, loved it. I'm still trying to figure out what that alien knew that was so important.
