What makes this post so special, is that I'm re-watching the end of BSG right now! LOL

Knowing Dylan he's probably happy about it.

Probably as true as it is funny.

Love the Bogart quote.

Wouldn't the name on his ID have been Robert Zimmerman?

Funny story in any case. Think I read another story similar to this where the cop was a 22 year old who didn't recognize Dylan?

When I was 22, I'm sure that I wouldn't have been able to pick Perry Como or Eddie Fisher out of a police line-up. Besides, it's not like Bob Dylan has done any great music since 1975. Sure, his fans buy whatever he puts out, but everybody else moved on.

First off, odds are your average 20something these days couldn't name more than a handful of 20+ year old bands, let alone identify any of the members.

Think about it though, even if you did stumble into someone famous in some odd situation, you'd probably be doubtful of who they were anyway.

Apparently she recognized the name but didn't believe it was really him.
Apparently that happens to Dylan a lot according to that 60 minutes interview.

''People would come and say are you who I think you are? And I would say: uh I don't know. And they say Yeah you are him and I say Ok... yes. and the next thing they will say is No... are you really him? You are not him.

-Bob Dylan.

And I agree he probably liked not being recognized.

Though the title of this thread reminded me of something. I met this girl at college today and we were talking about music. She tells me she likes bands like Matchbox 20 and loves Blues. I asked her if she likes classic rock and her response: You mean like Alan Parson's?

This actually happened in my hometown! At least he was chill about the whole situation though.

being from his home town [hibbing] I didn't find this odd one bit.
when his mom was still alive he'd come to see her here in town but always kept a low profile and didn't go out of his way to be recognized.

I did think it was funny that he didn't have any type of identification on him at all. I mean I understand not wanting to be mugged but what if the guy was hit by a car or shot, nobody would know it was him or at least be unsure if it was really him.

Exactly, especially if you look like a vagrant which in Dylan does (at least in every picture I've seen of him). My job causes me to meet all kinds of street people and I've met the Queen of England, Gene Simmons, and numerous incarnations of Jesus Christ. I'm sure the cop in this case thought they had just found another crazy transient who was off his meds.

He also wants to lend his voice to GPS systems.

Well that's messed up. I like his singing but have you hear his talking voice?
