Is anybody planning on buying anything from this, or bought something already.
I think the prices are insane, all of that stuff should be free. My jaw dropped though, when a big company put out "recessionista" fashion, then wanted to charge for it, during a recession.
Though I will admit, I do like a few of the steam punk items.

Nope, no plans on using them. Seems pointless, especially paying some of those prices. Bah.

5 bucks for a lightsaber?!

No thanks.

Plus, what's the point of creating an avatar of yourself if your going to hide behind some kind of armor or helmet?

Yes. I think games on demand is a rip too. $20 for Perfect Dark Zero? NOBODY plays PDZ. Or thirty for Call of Duty 2. Well, I could go get World at War, which a lot of people play, for nearly the same price!

Eh I think even a used copy of World at War will still run you 54 bucks at Game Stop. I do agree the prices are a bit high. Once they drop to more realistic prices it could be great though.

Oh and the Avatar stuff is stupid. Its kind of cool you can unlock stuff for them, but other then that just stupid. I've thought the Avatars were stupid since the begining though.

I think all the masks, space uniforms, etc. are a total waste and undermine what's good and fun about avatars: they're supposed to be you. The hand-held props are OK, I guess, but I'd really just want more tops, sneakers, maybe hats, etc. with developer art on it.

Then again, I'd like more hair options (like curly hair for men at varying lengths), the ability to put bracers/watches on the other arm, and other really basic options.

I think its pretty laughable that they expect people to pay money for something so small and meaningless.

They will though, in numbers that will more than justify Microsoft's minimum investment. I mean really, how much do you think it costs to implement something like this compared to the money to be potentially made selling people dressup clothes for their digital dolls?

I paid 40 points for an eyepatch because I freaking love eyepatches.

If everything was 40 points ($0.50) I might consider getting a few other things. Other than the eyepatch though, the lowest price was 80 points, and most things were in the 160-320 point range. Way too expensive.

I mean, it's almost like real life. Do I buy these shirts and pants or this video game? For the amount they're charging, a couple clothes sets is the equivalent of an XBLA game. Ridiculous.

I thought I remembered hearing that games would start including unlockable avatar items. I think that could be kind of cool. If you get the Big Daddy helmet for beating Bioshock instead of just buying the helmet in the marketplace, I would be much more in favor of it. You would be able to show off your achievements better than with just a big Gamerscore.

ETA: Oh, also, eyepatch notwithstanding, I'm still super pissed that they really don't have any normal style glasses. I can make my Mii look about a million times more like me than I can my Avatar.

Ding, ding! Exactly.

I bought three things, and that's it. The Gears armor, lightsaber, and eyepatch. Don't ask why. If I can afford it, I don't care much about spending money. But those three are the only things I wanted to buy. Unless I'm making 15 bucks an hour I don't care for about others.
