When I was a kid (1970's) I used to read DC Batman and another comic with a "Bat Man" that was part bat. He had bat features, etc. Any ideas who this was, etc.

Thanks. I looked him up and I think he is the one I was thinking of, but it seems like he was in a stand alone comic book.

Looks like Manbat's making a serious comeback. He's going to be in Outsiders and Streets pretty close together. Was that awful Battle For The Cowl tie-in his last appearance?

He actually had his own book for two issues, in 1975 & 1976.

Man, was Jim Aparo good.

I wonder what those Manbat issues go for. I'd love to read them.

I looked it up, those are different stories. But thanks for the heads-up.

yeah I didn't know anything about it when I bought other than it had a cool cover with names Frank Robbins and Neil Adams on it

I liked what Morrison did in Batman & Son with the man-bat idea but am I alone in thinking that he needs a big story of his own sometime soon? I'd wouldn;t be against Man-Bat added back into the family on a casual basis

I think Man-Bat has appearances scheduled in upcoming issues of both Outsiders and Superman/ Batman.

I'm really glad to see Jim getting so much appreciation now, but it's too bad he didn't get more when he was alive. When his work was appearing in the bat-books, a lot of people complained about it.

Concerning Man-bat #1 & 2, Aparo only did the covers. Pablo Marcos did the interior art on #2, and would you believe that Steve Ditko actually did the art on #1?

Don't forget Streets Of Gotham. According to the solicits he's teaming up with Huntress. I think that's the arc that's going to be written by Chris Yost.

I've always enjoyed Jim's art. And he was a very nice guy in person, too. I met him at the Chicago Comic Con back in the year of the infamous Image Comics tent.

Now I really want to read them.
