Still one of the best animated movies after all these years! I got the Blu-Ray and watched it after all these years since i was 12 in 1993 when i saw it in a theater. Still a fresh and unique yet masterful stop motion animated movie that predated Toy Story and Pixar in a world of different animation from 2D.

But i kind of hate how Hot Topic exploits this masterpiece in a harmful way even those damn Emo kids. It's not an "Emo" movie in any way, it's really a very original story and after 16 years it's got an anniversary.

Great movie. In the last month I've watched it, The Corpse Bride, and Coraline (for the first time for each) and have loved all of them.

Anyone went to Disneyland's Halloween this year? i did last month and i had a blast on the Nightmare before Xmas themed Haunted Mansion.

And anyone else agree with me on that Hot Topic thing?

I've grown to hate the movie based on the kids that its associated with these days. Fucking Union Square, can't even go to one of my favorite comic shops without running into nine different people with Jack Skellington on them.

So you hate it now due to the trope of 'Its Popular now it Sucks'?

I just rewatched this with my kids last night. My five year old son loves it. That trendy emo fucker. It's a pretty good movie all in all. I love the animation, it's like the animated scenes from Beetlejuice but bumped up a few notches. I thought it was worth watching just for the different creatures in the opening 10 minutes or so. It's got a great moral really, I explained it to my son as "No matter how hard you try to do the right thing, sometimes it just doesn't work out. But, that doesn't mean you shouldn't keep trying to do right".

Well now at Hot Topic there is less merchandise of TNBC as the merchandise is now at Disney stores and Disneyland/Disney World shops which is a good thing since Disney owns TNBC.

Anyone thinks it's one of Burton's best?

I love the songs in TNBC. Some of Elfmans finest imo.

I liked it a bit less than I was expecting to but it was still very good. Aside for the incredible design, the songs were probably the best part, especially in comparison to Elfman's newer efforts like Corpse Bride (which actually had a better story, I think) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Of the three (TNBC, Corpse Bride and Coraline), I did like Coraline the most but they all have quite a bit going for them.

I would but Burton didn't direct it, so I can't.

Hate was a strong word. I mean I can't really enjoy it as much as I once did due to who its associated with. It's like everytime I see a character in the movie, there's specific people I know that jumped to mind. I cant just sit down and enjoy the movie without that happening.

The songs are what really gets it for me. Most of the movie's so-so, but as soon as a song starts playing, my attention is completely undivided. They really make the movie.

I saw it in theaters when I was 9 and I've loved it ever since. It was actually strange for me to see it blow up on a pop culture level a few years back. It went from seeing 1 shirt and having 1 line of pretty low quality figures to having more merchandise than any 1 films honestly needs.

I think it holds up really well. What's odd is that everyone chalks it all up to Burton but, to me, Henry Selick, the director, deserves even more credit. Yes, the characters, design, and story are Burton's (for the most part), but Selick brought them to life and really crafted a classic.

Sadly, he made a big misstep with "james and the giant peach" (and furthermore with "Monkeybone"), but really redeemed himself with "Coraline" (which I thought was amazing). Burton went on to do "The Corpse Bride" and, to me, it was PAINFULLY obvious that, in a stop motion feature, he couldn't hold a candle to the visual style of Selick. The story was pretty engaging and the designs were alright, but the flow and style of the film really paled in comparison to NBC.

What's even sadder, though, is that most people seem to think Burton had something to do with "Coraline" when, in fact, he wasn't involved in any way shape or form.

Well it seems the hot topic fad is nearly dead on this movie with now a small dose, now it's Twilight that is the posterchild of Hot Topic.

Who went to Disneyland for Halloween time? their Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion ride ruled!
