View Full Version : Cloak and Dagger movie? (again)

Rumour has it that the rights to Cloak and Dagger have been bought again by a major US production company.

Following the success of such films as The Dark Knight and Watchmen, Marvel are reportedly looking to release their own gritty epic.

Apparently came about when a relatively unknown UK based scriptwriter had been using his own adaption of (by Marvel's own admission) the 'defunct' comic book characters as a speculative script for some time, before its potential and his unique take on it.

I'm undecided on it at the moment; yeah, they have movie potential, and there is potentially a great chance to reinvent and make-over an almost dead franchise. However, it failed once, it could very easily fail again.

Thoughts?

after all these years, cloak has never laid a hand or even touched one of dagger's titties? if i was cloak there would be at least two or three lil black babies running around.....

Also, how does Marvel Studios work exactly? I thought they were their own production company . . .

I was under that impression as well. And I think Lively looks great for Dagger, you want someone bigger or what? Because I'm pretty sure that IS a body.

This sounds unlikely for various reasons, but mainly because a company whose primary worth right now is as an IP farm would never admit to leaving characters undeveloped when they have their own production and development company - you don't tell the world you aren't doing your job.

Plus: a spec script? Without being asked to develop a spec treatment, what we're really talking about here is fanfic.

Well, if this is an origin movie, they'd still be kids. We comic fans may approve of the use of pedo imagery to sell comic books, but outside our clique it tends to not go down so well among the normals.

if you count fifteen year olds as pedo material, yes.

But since a lot of readers and watchers are younger then twenty i dont really think you can count it as pedo, and even at older ages i have my doubts

cool concept - but there were talks about a lot of secondary marvel characters getting a shot and sadly - they get the serious b to c treatment so as much as I would love to see it - i know it would probably be horrid

I thought the same thing. I don't know of any other Cloak and Dagger movie.

And that movie was totally awesome.

Actually, the original poster is referring to the Marvel comic book characters Cloak and Dagger.... I just couldn't resist throwing in the OTHER Cloak and Dagger.

I know. I just have only seen the Jack Flack Cloak and Dagger. Cloak and Dagger(the comic book) was made live action?

That was a comicbook show.

I strongly disagree . . . not with the part that it was a "comicbook show", but with the notion that Hayden was not intended to appeal to a mainstream audience . . .

marvel studios should own cloak & dagger, no one else.. my guess is they're on hold for now.. they originally belonged to the Spider-verse comics-wise, so if they were used by Sony they couldn't appear elsewhere.. and vice versa..
