With the death of John Carbonero, DC has acquired the rights to the THUNDER Agents.

I assume DC will be folding these characters into the DCU as they have with other properties i.e. Charlton, Quality, etc.

I'm excited about it. The original 60's THUNDER Agents were published about 10 years before I started reading comics, but the work of Wally Wood, Reed Crandall, Steve Ditko and others was exceptionally good for the Silver Age and is held in high regard.

What's everyone else think ?

I'm sure they have a bigfanbase, but I'd prefer that they stay on one of the other Multiverse worlds.

New Earth already has Checkmate, the Shadow Cabinet, the Ultramarine Corps, and now the Global Peace Agency. Do they need another politcially-based superhero team?

True, but of the groups listed, Checkmate is probably the best known, which isn't saying much.

I've heard no indication that DC is going to have a political bent to this incarnation. TBH, it hadn't even occured to me.

Big fan. Tracked down the original series years ago and I even have the various "unofficial" appearances such as Thunder Bunny and Boris the Bear.

I was sad to hear about John C, but I'm glad to see the Agents found a home.

While it may seem like a little much, putting them or anyone else on one of the Multiverse worlds would be a waste. Why? Because when you're folding new characters into your universe, you want to see them interact with the other characters from that universe. No one wants to see the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents off on their own little world. They want to see what happens when the Agents run into Batman or Superman. And it's more fun when you don't have to deal with a character being "stuck on a parallel world they never made".

I have a radical notion, instead of an ongoing series, why not a series of minis? That way DC could take its time with the stories and get the whole story in the can, so to speak, and then publish it. I'm afraid that they are going to get lost in the shuffle.

I hope they will stay closer to the original vision than with that "Authority Light" DC series that Mr Carbonaro pulled the plug on a few years ago....

Why would you think that DC, who have a vested interest in these characters i.e. without knowing the terms definitively, I'm sure they paid $$, and I would think nothing would help to expose these characters more than to make them part of the incredibly successful DCU.

I vote for the silver-age/Tower Comics version retroactively written into the DCU (they were always around and probably have met and worked with other DCU/Milestone/Red Circle/etc. characters in the past.).

I prefer the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents (along with Milestone and Red Circle heroes) to have their own Earth. They should be strong enough to hold their own series without bumping into other heroes like Batman and Wonder Woman to boost interest. No reason DC can't do a mini-series that bring other DC heroes and the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents together.

Combining the different companies were great in the past and worked, but I think we're better off not doing it today.

Absolutely love T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents. An incredible series for it's time and one that still holds up incredibly well to this day.

Personally, I'd prefer to see the Agents on their own world.

Ian Sattler said at the Chicago Comic Con this weekend that they're going to be playing some kind of role in the Superman books next year.

Back in the old days, DC used to reintroduce acquired/forgotten properties via the annual JLA/JSA team-ups and I think that's what they should do with the THUNDER Agents.

Well as long as Mentor doesn't come back to life like everyone else seems to do.

Give them a decent writer and artist and I'll check them out. Big fan of the Tower versions, but, like John Byrne with my beloved Doom Patrol, sometimes even the biggest names in comics can produce shit.

Ghost Shark, you are 100% on target with that statement. I was counting down until the first Byrne issue of DP came out and I can't tell you how incredibly crushed I was. I want so badly to like it and it was horrible IMO. It was so bad in fact that I never got the second issue. I can't remember that ever happening with any other title or relaunch I've read.

THUNDER Agents in the Superman titles ! Very cool.

I'm really looking forward to the Red Circle, Milestone, and Tower integrations, along with Doc Savage, the Avenger, etc in the Azzarello / Morales series.
