Anyway, Morrison, Whedon, and Ellis are the only writers who have written a Beast that I find compelling, and Frank Quitely's design is the only one I find visually interesting. At this point, I've resigned myself to the fact that they're going to revert him physically and return him to his alliterating goofball persona. It's a pity, but hopefully they send him off to a book I don't read--like Mighty Avengers.

Nah, seriously, I think his look matched the kind of mood Morrison got going on in his stories back then. Makes him look more dangerous and intelligent at the same time, IMHO. Before, I just really didn't like him that much.

And, like always, I did realise this was a multiple choice poll too late, or else my second vote would have gone to Dark Beast - not for the looks, but he's one of my fave characters.

This is a touching scan. Armor loved and respected Beast and couldn't bear watching him suffer.

I was hoping for something more complicated, with beast appearing to get a friendlier version of Dark Beast's body and Dark Beast becoming something different entirely, either initially or from further experimentation. I think it'd be fun if D.Beast did better in Beast's body than he did.

ah I remember this issue. You know it makes me wonder. Of the originals, aside from Cyclops and Jean, Beast was the guy CC used the most as prominently as possible. He had him during the DArk Phoenix Saga, a few of the early All-New X-Men adventures, X-Treme X-Men and now in X-Men Forever. Is Beast a favorite of Claremont's? And was there a reason why he did not have him as regular in his early stint as writer? Maybe because he was an Avenger and they had control of him?

See I grew up with what I consider the classic Beast, which was Jim Lee's take on the character. So I think Blue Fur Simian Beast is best. Feline Beast always comes off as a pansy. I want goofball Beast back again.

They do seem to be moving Hank back towards 'simian Beast' in recent times. First the backwards legs of New XMen went, then his body changed to become more 'human/ape'.

Check the current 'Chewbacca' look; it's far more 'classic' Beast than Morrisons 'Cat beast' imho.

Jim Lee's blue Beast is classic, the original and X-Factor looks were good too. Gray beast wasn't too bad either and I'm glad to see Dark Beast back, but Feline beast is just plain Rubbish :rolleyes:

I hate to admit it but I don't actually hate cat beast. At first I hated the idea, but when the right artist draw cat-Hank he really has a cool look. On the other hand when the wrong artist draws him I can't stand it :mad:

Beast with standard blue fur is the one I grew up reading so that's how I always seem to envision the character. However, I think the feline version is interesting from a storytelling POV.

I feel the same way. I noticed two different artists drawing Hanks with a different amount of fingers in the same seem. Granted one was a flash back.
