Same here, in all honestly though, the show is great. I really like the core team, and surprisingly Wolverine isn't always the star of the show which is very refreshing. I love Gambit too! I really thought they nailed the character! And he didn't speak in the third person which is wonderful...

Yeah, the title of "Wolverine and the X-Men" was a great marketing decision. This is probably the largest X-Men cast ever, yet they made sure to highlight the name of the one with the blockbuster film out this year.

It's kinda like the Batman: Brave and the Bold cartoon. They really use it to introduce kids to a lot of lesser known superheroes, but they make sure to lure them in with the name BATMAN.

So kudos to Marvel and DC for finally marketing more than the same three characters!

When I first saw the trailers for Wolverine and the X-Men, I thought it would be horrible like X-Men Evolution. A few episodes in, and I'm actually enjoying it, surprisingly.

I don't think anything will ever be as good as the '90s X-Men series, though.

They do towards the end of the season. Only it doesn't count. Cause she and all three of her clones are hanging out and he's just standing there. It's like one of the last 2 episodes.

Im loving this show, I being a huge Cyclops fan feel conflicted on his attitude, but I do understand it makes him more appealing to newer fans. I do hope with how focused he's been on finding Jean, and how callous Logan has been to finding her, We'll see Scott and Jean reunite in some media. With all the cameos in this show it may be the best yet. Maverick, X-23, Sammy the Squid-boy!!!!!!

Okay Flawed is maybe a bit to harsh, but i consider them to be more or less averange.

I admit the Hulk one was okay and so was the Maverick one. However his fight with Sabertooth was extremly lame.
Don't get me wrong, i don't demand direct wounds and blood ala Hulk vs. Wolverine, but i want to see at least both scratching each other (as in cutting their clothes) or narrowly missing.
After all it worked with Mystique in her first appearance, were Wolverine slizes across her chest (while she was inpersonating Xavier) leaving visible cuts in the clothes.
However Sabertooth just blocking the blades and then pulling a liefeldian sized taser from nowhere (serisouly if he was hiding that giant thing under his coat it should have created a visible bulge) just looked to silly.

In the end i just don't consider any of Wolverine's solo episodes in this show to be really great, while the best ones are those not focused on him directly.

Let me guess you only saw the series on Nicktoons so far?

In the end it's purely my personaly oppinion and if you love certain episodes, which i dislike, than it's just this way.

I disagree, Emma never threw herself at Cyclops the way she did in the book. Second Cyclops never showed any interest in Emma, he was completely preocupied by Jeans abscence and how to get her back. This is way different from the books.

I can't speak much to the Wolverine part, as I am not completely 100% atuned to everything that happened in Wolverine's past. But from what I have read when Wolverine showed up at Xaviers. He was some complete Hellsangel Motorcycle driving thug out to cause trouble. I don't see that being the case with Cyclops in X&XM, where Scott is more torn up by the disapearance of his girlfiriend and the fact that they parted under less than stellar circumstances.

I love Wolverine and the X-Men and I can't wait for the next season to come out!
It would just be that much better if they put Scott and Logan back into their proper roles. I know Wolverine is more marketable and everything, but I think they should switch it back to the way it should be. I don't like the fact that Logan is giving orders to Scott, and that Xavier wants him too.

I like the set-up because it forces Cyclops into a position of not being teacher's pet/beloved leader and puts Wolverine in an uncomfortable role for him as leader and gatherer.

Its a good status quo and I would love to see it in the comics.

But Bishop's spanish voice over = best spanish voice over on an X-cartoon ever!

Well, they seem to have a lot of young characters hanging around. Maybe they'll do some sort of New Mutants/Gen X/New X-Men-type team?

And I know it's a slim hope seeing as how Emma "bought it" at the end of last season, but I hope they do some sort of flashback to her other group of students at the Massachussets Acadmey.

It's all about the merchandise and marketing really. Kids love Ben 10, which had good marketing and a lot of merchandise from the start. Dunno about the US but WATXM didn't have any advertising or merchandise here, just a late afternoon slot on a satellite channel, and now a morning slot in the holidays on a main channel during the childrens block.

While I don't know how much advertising the show is getting aren't the X-Men pretty much ubiquitous at this point? There have been X-Men cartoons, toys, movies and video games for nearly twenty years now so I would hope they would have a bit of a hold in popular culture by now. How do you introduce something that has been mainstream longer than the younger viewers of the show have been alive?

That's what I think. It's on a cable spinoff of Nicolodean in the states, and it's pretty heavily advertised on the Nick channels.

From repositioning Wolvie to be the leader—which just comes across to me as a strategic marketing tactic due to consumer response to the character— to the half assed, almost non-existent characterizations, to the awful voice acting. The animation was it's saving grace (not as good as Evolution but not as bad as the 90's cartoon), but the Wolvie-centric stories were so boring. Lots of plots going on, and no real characterization at all. The writing was pretty one-note. No ups and downs, just a lot of the same (bleak future, bleak present, yadda yadda yadda)

I'm pretty disappointed in the overall outcome. That's saying a lot because I'm a huge fan of Yost and Kyle. I think their NXM, XF, and especially what they did with X-Men Evolution was amazing. They were able to pull off more in that series than this one. W&TXM seemed like half-borrowed stories from the comics and totally watered down for the tv show. Which I guess is fine, since it's for kids. But maybe it's cause we've already seen Yost and Kyle run with the super apocolyptic mutant stories that I'm kinda bored with this series. I feel like they ran with the same energy they started NXM, since it was so well recieved by the fans, and adapted it for this cartoon. (Which, like Wolverine's claws in a fight scene, doesn't work as well, since again, this is a NickToons production)

Nightcrawler looked awesome, the episode showing the original 5 was fun, and Wolvie's arms were drawn nicely. Forge was actually my favorite character. Those were the main ups for me with this series.

So what is supposed to happen for season 2 now? AoA? Are they really gonna continue with Xavier running dispatch from the future for another 22 episodes? Wow. How lame.

HAHA! Well they might have rejected that treat:frown: , but we all know why Logan had to clone five Lauras...
By the way, Keep that pimp hand strong, gurrrlll!

Oh believe me I will:biggrin:

And yes, Logan's Laura harem is an open secret among the X-Men. Occasionally Warren or Emma have their rich friends join in, which is where the X-Men keep getting all their money from:evilsmile:

Jets and super computers don't come cheap!

Ew him with Laura is basically incest... or masturbation since he's basically he's having sex with himself, I haven't decided.

That's how Logan excuses it

Things like the age of consent don't apply to mutants. Just ask Collossus ;)

So I'm really behind everyone here, but I finally got to see the first three episodes of this series. The art is a lot nicer than it appears from just seeing screen shots these past few months. The storyline is good too, although I know it's aimed at children but the violence is really toned down. Anytime someone is hit or something explodes they make sure to make it clear that everyone survived and nobody was severely hurt lol "Avalanche destroyed empty warehouses" Thank God! I was worried someone was killed! How considerate of Avalanche.

Other than those minor gripes, the cameos are nice and the voice acting is pretty good. Kitty doesn't annoy me either, which is good cause normally I like her dead.

The problem is, I don't get why the violence is so toned out. There was plenty of killing in the X-Men films, and let's be honest, most of the viewers of WATXM are probably fans because of those movies.

And yet anime shown in the US tends to have far laxer editing on violence. For example, the show Naruto has "digital blood reduction" but the death is still all there. Major characters are still allowed to kill and die.

Why aren't American cartoons allowed this luxory?

So the US is just starting to get this? It's been on in Canada for quite awhile now.

The violence might be toned down compared to the movies, but I think the storylines are quite complex compared to most cartoons. It's not just a kid's show and I would consider it more "grown up" than any of the other superhero cartoons.

Pariah \Pa"ri*ah\, n. [From Tamil paraiyan, pl. paraiyar, one of
the low caste, fr. parai a large drum, because they beat the
drums at certain festivals.]
[1913 Webster]
1. One of an aboriginal people of Southern India, regarded by
the four castes of the Hindus as of very low grade. They
are usually the serfs of the Sudra agriculturalists. See
{Caste}. --Balfour (Cyc. of India).
[1913 Webster]

2. An outcast; one despised by society.
[1913 Webster]

{Pariah dog} (Zo["o]l.), a mongrel race of half-wild dogs
which act as scavengers in Oriental cities.

{Pariah kite} (Zo["o]l.), a species of kite ({Milvus
govinda}) which acts as a scavenger in India.
[1913 Webster]

I watched the first season, I thought it was ok/pretty good. It didn't appeal to me the same way the 90s cartoon did, but I was just a kid then. This series has a much more modern feel to it and has more characters which I like. I especially don't like the switch in roles between Wolverine and Cyclops with Scotty being the sort of loner/bad boy and Wolverine being the leader. It just doesn't work right.

What I did like were the Nightcrawler centered episodes... They were all fantastic and provided a great change of pace from the rest of the show. And there really is a lot to like about the show which lets me look past Wolverine and Cyclops. I like Domino a lot and Quicksilver as well. The entire Brotherhood is great actually. I hope Storm, Iceman, Colossus, and Shadowcat get a little more of a boost in screen time the next season. Rogue was utilized perfectly, she was given not too much and not too little attention. Lets get a little Gambit/Rogue going, eh? speaking of Gambit, he had a few nice episodes revolving around him but I hope he becomes more of a regular in the bigger events. I don't really care for him on the team but he should come through when the big battles are occuring between MRA/Genosha/Brother/Xmen and not just for cameos.

I agree. I for one really like the MRD and the Genosha storylines too. While it was covered on the first animated series, it's been modernized and is really compatible for new viewers and younger X-fans. That being said, what i love about it is how mature and subtle it can be keeping more "classic" fans entertained. I for one can't wait for next season.

I was surprised to find I really liked it. It was quite dark and well written. A lot of the voice acting bugged me, and I wish Kitty would just run off somewhere so we didn't have to watch her any more (I mean seriously, the whole precocious ass-kicking child thing gets really old really quickly), but mostly I enjoyed it. I don't like how whiny Rogue was at first, but when she gets a chance to use her brain (like in the episode with Tildie) she's great. And Gambit was sheer awesomeness! I hope they meet in the second series; if their writing carries on at the same calibre, there is no way it can't be good

Sorry to tell you this but they can't do this, while the original AOA was an alternaive dimension/timeline, the world we saw at the end of season 1 is a future, which means something which could happen from the moment Xavier talked with them again.

However there are other ways to bring her back. Like i said before there was a human figure in the pheonix when Emma's diamond form broke appart.

It's just a shame the end and follow up situation let her look like a total idiot.

Reminds me that when while watching that episode i noticed a disturbing detail in Xavier's future. There are no humans to be see and only destroyed cities.
The only normal human we saw was Moss who has become a cybernetic puppet of the Sentinels (so much that the computer part can easily override the organic one). Everything else were mutants and Sentinels.

Sure you could argue that they just weren't in the area the whole events happend, but i find the idea of no normal humans around to be intrestingly creepy for such a series.

Come to think of it, for a show which goes great length to avoid direct harm against people it contains a lot of implied genocide.

By the way i wonder if we will have a reappearing but different Marrow and Hellion in season 2?

I'm wondering if we'll maybe see their "Modern day" counterparts, as I'm betting Xavier's "Future X-Men" will be made up mostly of versions of characters from AOA like Blink, Sabretooth (Guessing they'll have him "Reformed" like Domino was in the season 1 future) Jubilee, Rogue, Magneto, Gambit etc.

This would make sense if they would have stuck with Days of Future past or Bishop's Future character in season 1. But they didn't. Which means there is no indication that they would actualy stick with AOA characters in season 2.

Especialy since Blink allready appeared in the present which would have make her a middle aged woman by Xaviers future.

Also they kind of went crazy with temporal displacing many characters. After all they made Hellion, Marrow, Firestar and Kamal future only characters (born after the catastrophy), all characters who are actualy supposed to be in the present.
