You might not expect liberal Los Angeles, of all places, to be ground zero for anti-Obama sentiment, but that appears to be the case with a new, apparently grassroots campaign in the city. Posters have been spotted on utility poles and walls around town, depicting the president made up grotesquely as The Joker, the infamous Heath Ledger character in "The Dark Knight," with white face paint, dark eye shadow and smudged red lipstick. The word "socialism" is printed in bold, dark letters under the image of his face.

Nobody has come forward yet to claim responsibility for the posters, which, of course, only adds to the mystery and fuels Internet speculation.

The poster has also gone viral online, crashing the Web site that first posted images of it and rising to the top of Google's "Today's Hot Trends" list.

Whoever is behind the posters has to be thrilled by the sudden media attention and especially the breast-beating overreaction by certain Democrats. Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson was especially melodramatic:

"Depicting the president as demonic and a socialist goes beyond political spoofery," says Hutchinson. "It is mean-spirited and dangerous.

"We have issued a public challenge to the person or group that put up the poster to come forth and publicly tell why they have used this offensive depiction to ridicule President Obama."

For some reason Hutchinson wasn't nearly so upset when President George W. Bush was depicted with devil horns.

A bigger question than who's responsible for the poster is what does The Joker have to do with socialism? Isn't he more of an anarchist?

Nope, more of a serial killer.

Obama wouldn't be a very funny Joker.

And I'm gonna guess the person who said this had ZERO problem with this...

Well, the movie Joker was a sociopath that wanted to throw the country into chaos and watch the establishment crumble and burn.................

If you can't put 2 and 2 together on that one.......

Maybe because that one is funny, while the Obama one is, at best, nonsensical.

(Not to say he should be upset at either one, mind you, but...at least the Bush one made some degrees of sense. The Obama one is just stupid.)

How dare they. The office of the President is the highest in the land. It should be respected not made fun of.

If the caption said Why So Socialist? then it would be funny.

If the caption said Why So Socialist? then it would be funny.

That would have saved it, yeah.

As it is now, all I know is that the creator doesn't know the difference between semi-strong statism and anarchy.

Yes, Whoever did that maniac senseless attack on everything that it's moral and right with this world should be hanged for treason...TREASON I say!

If you are reading This Shame on you... Shame on you and all your kin *sobs tears if rage*.

Stupid politicians and their melodrama.

Two points though.

1. I agree I don't see the point but it sure puts a whole new spin on this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1X6RQLZtoA

2. The Joker wasn't an anarchist. Anarchism isn't based on chaos and destruction, it's just the absence of a State or government with different ways to replace the government (Which is seen by anarchist as dangerous and perjudicial to society). And Anarchism does have ties with Socialism in which left Anarchism or Anarco-socialism is the most vocal anarchistic Ideology.

Although Maybe Obama went out trick or treating as The Joker last Halloween and took a picture (cause it was a cool costume and he was proud), posted it on his Myyspace or Facebook and someone who was just planning to do a poster saying SOCIALIST under Obama's photo just went to google images and took the first photo she/he saw without looking at it and just wrote Socialist under it. And it wasn't until later that he realized that he missed the chance to do something like ''Wanna see a Magic trick? Poof your money is gone on just taxes bitch'' or something like that. And all of this is just one curious coincidence.

What? it could've happen.
