Here's my question - what would the X-Men be like in 25 years, and who would be on the team's roster. And I don't mean in comic years - I mean in actual years from where the X-Men are right now.

You can put anyone there, but try and give a reason why they would still be active, like if they are immortal, or sons and daughters of characters.

Leaders: Cannonball (Being an External, Sam hasn't grown old, and has committed to leading the X-Men, much like he did X-Force when he was younger)

Beast (Beast would be the mentor figure for the X-Men. His fur would be all white, and he might have a bit less spring in his step.)

Colossus (He'd still be active, and not aged a lot, because he'd be trapped in his metal organic form)

Hellion (Now an adult, he's grown into a powerful force on the X-Men)

Wolverine (He's still around. Graying hair, though)

X-23 (Like Wolverine she's still around. Taller since she's no longer a kid.)

Chamber (Long since he regained his original powers, but is now almost like a walking zombie, nearly never talking, as the return of his powers cause him great depression)

And for a foe for them to face -- none other than the supposed savior of mutant kind, Hope - who has become the menace Bishop foretold of.

I would like to think that in 25 years Cyke will have moved onto some other powerful psi who assumes some kind of leadership role over the mutant race. Otherwise... pretty much exactly what I was thinking.

Won't a few of these people be a little bit too old in 25 years time?

You've got it all wrong. In a shocking twist, there will be a Rookie Teenage Boy!

Also, Kitty is replaced by Pixie.

I hear Rachel is available.

This is more likely, though, since she is a psi AND a red-head.

AND she looks like Jean Grey. Sorry, Maddie.

In 25 years, I predict Molly Hayes will become over exposed like Logan.

I also predict the mutants of NYX will officially enter the X-Universe, somehow. o__.

She already is imho.

Team will mainly be the same, due to some de-aging technology

Comic book characters do not get old. If you go by real life time, most characters would be over 50 by now.

25 years IN-story time.

Only a few of the originals would still be around and then probably in advisory roles.
Even the younger characters are going to be OLDER than the regular characters are now. Hellion in 25 years would be in his forties.

Truly an X-men team in 25 years is going to be made up of character not even glimmers in the eyes of their parents at this point.

Even with the boom of babies around the MU... there's still not that many.

You've got Franklin and Valeria as two of the few pre-teen characters out there.

And folks, thanks but I don't need a link or an image to GeNext, I'm only interested in a future 616 X-Men rosters.

Lets go for 15-20 years...

X-Men - The End

Shadowcat - Mentor, previously posessed by Shadow King, unable to go solid for fear that Hound programming would reassert itsself.

Hellion - Field Leader, more mature
X-23 - Now wearing Wolverine's costume and calling herself Wolverine.
Dust
Magik - Still possesses soulsword, but no longer demonic.
Sunspot
Chamber - Repowered, Shadowcat's lover
M

Cyclops, Phoenix, Marvel Girl, Cable, Havok, Polaris - Living in Shi'ar space
Angel - In hiding due to high demand of healing blood
Emma - stuck in diamond form due to missing limbs
Storm - queen of Wakanda
Wolverine - missing, brainwashed by Shadow King, leader of hounds
Rogue & Gambit - retired to swamps of Louisana
Prof. X, Nightcrawler, Colossus - dead
Cannonball, Wolfsbane, Moonstar -dead
Madrox, Siryn - still running X-Factor detective agency
Magneto, Mystique, Sabertooth - dead
Rockslide, Wolfsbane, Husk, Cuckoos, Magma, Warpath, Surge, Leech - Hounds
Karma - posessed by Shadow King
Pixie - ruler of Limbo
Armor - recently dead

My story would involve a major move by Sentinels/Hounds to hunt X-Men spearheaded by a Shadow-King influenced Washington. The Sentinels would kill Armor in the first issue, but she would find herself a discorporate ghost. The remaining X-Men would go to different groups of their previous allies looking for help while Armor would seek out deceased X-Men in Mephisto's realm, Hell, Limbo, Valhalla, etc., looking for guidance. In the end, Sentinels would attack the mutants in New York City and when all had given up hope, Armor would find a way to channel the spirits of her ancestors into the people of the city.

The people of NYC, fortified by the armor they have borrowed from Hisako would stand together against the Sentinels, defeating them with sheer numbers and showing that the Shadow-King-enhanced fear and loathing of mutants was no match for the humaity's capacity to be compassionate and to stand up for the oppressed. In the end, the X-Men would disband, realizing that the world no longer hates and fears them.

http://www.superherodb.com/pictures/portraits/franklin-richards.jpg

In many cases, yes you're right, superheroes don't age, but not in all cases.

The X-Men, especially, if not aging fast - there is at least a sign of progression in their lives. They where all probably around 18 years old when Stan and Jack first conceived of them. Cyclops eventually has a child with Madeyne, clearly much older than 18 by that point.

Beast clearly finished his education at Xaviers - earning all those doctorates. Being in the Avengers where like his collage years.

Franklin and Val age Reed and Sue Richards by a number of years, just because they are not babies anymore. Val, especially, has gone from an infant to a brainiac 3 year old.

The original New Mutants where clearly teenagers when they began, and seem to be in their 20s by now.

And the biggest one of all - Spider-man - he progressed through high school and collage, even going back to be a teacher years later. He's now even divorced!

Granted, any aging of characters has to be carefully managed. Once Peter hit that "Average Joe" age, they obviously wouldn't be taking us any farther than possibly 30 years old.

I usually look at it, as all past Marvel history is typically condensed into about 10 years span of time, or something close to that, with the date continually moving from the current date. (Though, when reading back issues, you have to take those 60s town cars in stride ^_^)
