It's the first day I'm going to pop it into my wii and play it. So do you guys think I made the right decision to get this game for my birthday?

Yeah, you did. That game is awesome! Not only does it have a great story, but its scary and challengen as hell. If you are new to the series pick hiking (easy) as an option (on mountaion-climbing it takes like 10 shot to shout a zombie and there ar emany more fo them)

It is a really good game and its kinda sad that the later games aren’t like this.

I just started the game as Chris and when I got stuck after inserting the green arrowhead into that cemetery place and getting the Book of Curses and before getting that emerald key or something. Man talk about hard.

So far I feel the game is alright, but hopefully that will change once I progress farther into the game.

PS - The gamefaqs board said it was a bad idea to start off as chris, so I'm restarting the game as Jill.

Well, Chris is stronger than Jill, so he can take more hits. But he only has 6 items slots and he needs to use old keys to open some of the doors, where Jill can just use her lock pick. His scenario is also harder. Her supportive character Barry is also more useful and helps you in battle. So Jill is the easy one.

The game gets better and creepier latter on.

My only problem with the game is that some of the puzzles are too hard. I took a key up and got killed by a trap... I didn't know you needed to find the fake key and replace it.

This is the version that is a port of the GameCube remake, I believe. Yeah, it really is a good game and is a lot of fun. Jill is easier to use in the sense that she can carry more items, so you aren't having to do as much backtracking and shuffling of things in your inventory. Playing her mission first will help you find your way around and give you a better of idea of how to best manage Chris's inventory when you play him.

What, I also like about this game, is, that is has the best monster/villain in term of creepiness and story (sad story): Lisa Trevor. I want her back for the next game, it was never clear if she died or not. I'm glad they reconned her in to this game.

^True. Story of Lisa Trevor is just sad...poor girl..and what's even creepy when she shows up..you can feel her suffering. She is one of the best bosses from the entire franchise.

Am i the only one who gets stuck on this game a lot? Last night, I saved the game right after I killed the two dogs for the collar (imitation key) and the time I swapped it for the armor key and then I had to go through tons of crazy shit.

honestly, the one thing that sucks about this game is that you get limited saves.

It really does, but don't be desperate. There are actually enough saves, later in the game. You just need to be patient.

And yeah i got stuck a lot. So I ended up using walkthrough on YouTube for help.

ok I just used my 9th Save after killing that giant tentacle plant with herbicide, seeing an injured richard (about to get to the serum), and when I got into the room where Barry left me two handgun magazines, two first aid sprays, and one pack of incendiary shotgun shells. Thank goodness the zombie upstairs didn't wake up and attack me on my latest try, but I bet the moment I cross him again I'm going to go mano-a-mano with him.

And what the hell were those two zombies from the room leading to the plant room? I can't seem to kill them easily.

Nonetheless, this game can be reallly hard and frustrating at times, but hopefully when most of that clears out, it'll be fun.

Ok I just got into a small dark-ass room after killing a zombie on the way and I got a Grenade Launcher and I don't know where the fuck am I supposed to go.

y'know, sometimes I really hate this game, it's too hard, too frustrating, there are limited ammo and saves, and you don't know where the fuck to go sometimes.

I know, I had given up the game 5 times because it was too difficult (before I used YouTube for help), but when you finish you feel great, because it was a real challenge, unlike resident evil: umbrella chronicles. That game wasn't hard and was very short, so when I finished it I felt it was incomplete even though I had fun while playing it.

Umbrella Chronicles was much more entertaining, straightforward, and fast-paced imo. But Resident Evil 4 beats them both as far as I currently feel.

And i guess I like it better when games aren't THAT hard, it feels more fun to me, since if I played the game just for achievement of challenge, it just makes me like I've lost all the fun and excitement in playing video games and it just makes me feel like I wanted strain, I might as well be writing 3 pages worth of essay for college.

anyways, i'm still watching part 18 and 19 of bigjrammstein's walkthrough vids for REmake now and I'm still waiting for him to get to the point.

Personally I didn't find the Resident Evil Remake too hard or too easy. A lot of it is similar to the orginal Resident Evil on the PS1. And if you played that a lot of times like I did then the remake isn't that difficult to play. When you start playing Real Survival Mode and Invisible Enemy Mode that's where it gets hard.

Umbrella Chronicles clears up this plot point. Lisa Trevor gets involved with a fight with Wesker when the mansion is set to explode. Wesker killed her and made his escape.

No way! You came in that late to Resident Evil. No wonder you're finding the game hard. I wish ya all the best on it, mate.

Thanks sir. Also I just got all four masks and according to gamefaqs, I'm supposed to go to the graveyard and fight this guy by combining the four masks or something.

The sucky thing is my health is currently at caution and I have only two first aid spray cans left to heal myself. Hope I find another heal item in the not-so-distant future.

Ah yeah. There's a passage in the graveyard that leads to a basement. You use all four masks on a coffin and a Crimson Head pops out. I recommend using a Shotgun or a Grenade Launcher as he's one tough bastard. Heal yourself before that fight as well. When he's down, there's a key item from the coffin that he popped out of.

I was under the impression that she was immortal, so the explosion couldn't hurt her.

Also, i've been enjoying myself more on Madworld lately. Awesome game btw.

I found that the original Resident Evil is hard because its controls suck the Big One.

I'm up to this part of the game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBb-4DG1y74&feature=related

and currently my ammo is so low it's not even funny and I'm desperate to get new ammo and health stuff and ribbons.

I'm almost considering to give up the whole game.

Having to get ribbons to save your game is one of the lamest ideas in video game history.

Don't give up, maybe find a walkthrough or something that tells you were they are all hidden.

I think it adds to the survival feeling, so I don't completely hate it, but I don't like it either.

Just hope I can quickly get past the crows from the lower floor if I want get a new ribbon, a red herb, a blue herb, and a first aid spray. But sadly no new ammo so far from what I have seen in the video. :(

And if you're looking for a challenge, play The Mercenaries after you beat the game. Thankfully, the challenge comes from the time element and many enemies, not shitty controls and idiotic concepts.

yeah difficulty based on controls and idiotic concepts do screw the game up a whole lot.

You probably would've liked it more if you got it on the Gamecube.
