Mike Carey wants Cannonball or Husk in Legacy. Zeb Wells wants Wolverine so he can kill him, but will take Wolfsbane instead for New Mutants. Nobody wants Thunderbird III.

I'd swipe Cannonball in an instant. I really like the way Sam and Rogue play off each other. Having said that, I really like Sam in New Mutants, too. Maybe it's time we started bringing the other Guthries on-stream...
Oooo Carey is such a tease! He should so get Paige back into mainstream. Where is she anyways? She's not in San Fran is she? Cuz she has been completely forgotten if she is.

Well said.
'Specially that bit about DC. mm Hmm.
Also...I don't understand why it really matters if this story is similar...OR a rip off or not.
Its told with different characters. And really, the characters are what matter. We read Marvel because we like the characters.
DC's characters don't interest me. Nothing against them...I just prefer the X.

Just because there are similarities, doesn't mean opinions (based without looking at the facts imo) suggesting this is an attempt to cash in on Blackest Night are valid. The timing is suspect, but I don't doubt that this idea was seeded years ago in New X-Men, because I have the issue. Marvel might be trying to steal some thunder by having this storyline payoff now, but its not like Blackest Night is the first time superheroes have come back as zombies...
And yes, my avatar was photoshopped.

But I also have to say that The Seeds for Blackest Night have been planted since Johns Started writing Green Lantern.

I read both Marvel and DC and I don't think it is a big deal that both stories are coming out at once. Its like when the movies Deep Impact and Armageddon came out months apart or Capote and Infamous, sometimes these things happen.
I am looking forward to both of them, granted more the Necrosha storyline cause it has Selene as the centerpiece and not some weird ring thing.

Interesting interview, but it sounded kinda like they were about to do something bad to Wolfsbane again, hope they dont kill her off, they should pick on someone else for awhile. But that's it, isn't it? It's not that original an idea really, two seperate people have ended up with similar ideas. Why do people act as if this is impossible?
I mean if we're going down that route, the BN zombies have their powers and personalities but with a bad twist....like the Marvel Zombies. Or hey, Steve Rogers died before Batman RIP, and Bucky replaced Rogers before Grayson replaced Wayne in this story. Did DC rip off Marvel? Or is it the more logical reason, that these kind of things happen and sometimes they will happen close together with no person stealing from another.
Really winds me up how quick people on the internet are to shout that something is a ripoff from something else

Necrosha will be awesome. LOOK at the creative team. I know it will be awesome. I might even give it a shot myself.
The point is. And it is a valid point. That many people have noted the sameness in the idea of the dead rising.
We all know no idea under the sun is original. But that does not mean a writer can't pay homage to something that really inspired him or something he loves.
Like brubaker did in the first issue of REBORN.

I don't get this "Blackest Night" and "Necrosha" whining.
Both publishers have had their share of undead heroes and villain stories - the Avengers fighting numerous versions of the Legion of the Unliving, She-Hulk facing the X-Humed, Baron Blood summoning zombie Titans before Infinite Crisis, people fighting the undead during War of the Gods, the whole Marvel Zombie thing, the Dead Girl mini-series, the many of the Scourge's victims revived by the Hood to kill Punisher.
I personally love stories that make use of dead (for the moment) characters. Sometimes it's cool if it leaves some folks resurrected. Either way, I think they're fun. I'm excited for more "Blackest Night" and the start of "Necrosha."

I don't know why, but I loved Jim Lee's work pre-X-Men #1. I don't know if it's because they changed the coloring process, but it never meshed for me as well as it did in his run on Uncanny. The same with Portacio. His X-Factor>>>>>>>>Uncanny.

Yeah, that was it for me, too. i didn't follow him when he left Marvel, but I definitely preferred people who aped his style. Like when Kubert came on X-Men, I was all, "ew, gross." Looking back, it has way more to do with inking and coloring than his pencils, though his scratchy style is a departure from Jimmy Lee.
I agree with Portacio. The Apocalypse/Inhumans story and the panels of Legion/Shadow King really stand out in my mind.

Cyber Ninjas are everywhere. Anyone seen the deleted scenes of Sophie's Choice?
No, but I do remember them in Mommy Dearest: The Director's Cut.

That part where they cut Howard De Silva in half diagonally and he slides apart before exploding used to scare the crud out of me when I was little. Now, it's a little passe'.

Morning!
Have you seen the Criterion of Starship Troopers? Casper Van Dien and Paul Verhoven talk about it in the second person. This is relevant, because they mention how they did concept art for the Mobile Infantry Cyber-Ninjas, but they never went into production. You know--budget and all that.

Really...You have never known that before! You remember watching that in the movie theatre a long time ago. The special effects artist who plastered that styrofoam smile on Denise Richards deserves an honorary something or other.
Cyber Ninjas in Nation X?

Looking at the comments, DC nerds love to troll...
Right? The article was fine, low in information but entertaining, but I can't think of any other time when I've wanted to reach through the computer screen and smack every single person who's posted in a thread. Here it's only, like, a 50/50 ratio.

Especially if Choi/Oback make the visual babies.
I remember when Jae Lee did the scene of Archangel cutting off Kamikaze's head. Awesome.

Is Selene bringing back the Externals? She killed most of them off for no good reason.
Astonishing!

You nailed it. X-Factor (vol. 1) #85.
I must add, though, the awesome part was when Boom Boom saw it happen, and then was choking down her own vomit in horror.

Oh, it was for an excellent reason- so Marvel didn't get their asses sued back to the Stone Age.

there wasn't really a choice.
They Should Bring Back Threnody And Lifeguard
LOL with the Lifeguard stuff. I would gladly take back Threnody though.

I know, but it's a nicer thing to say than "the Externals blew, it was a mercy killing."
Now you made him sad, Jed. Do you feel like a big man now? Jerk.
