Exiles has been canceled after issue 6! This is terrible news, but we can fight back! Start writing Joey Q. and tell him we don’t want Exiles to go away!
Come on guys, it worked for Spider-girl, it worked for Manhunter, it can work for Exiles! Parker’s take on the book was great and I for one don’t want to see it disappear!
SAVE BLINK, SAVE EXILES!

I heard many didn't know about the writer shift or didn't want to read the book after new exiles.

I agree. I want it back badly, but they will need to wait a year or two and promote the book. There was almost not any promotion for it.

I agree the promotion and marketing for Exiles really sucked. Way to go Marvel. >.>

Jeff Parker's writing is great, but not great enough to shake off the stink of Claremont's Exiles and New Exiles runs, and resurrect the title, it seems.
Damned shame.

I don't know, but us seems like most of the promotion money is going to the Avengers
But I will write the mail to get it back, its my favorit after wolverine first class at the moment.

Yeah, I love his writing on Exiles and X-men first class. Marvel needs to give this man some god titles!

SAVE BLINK, SAVE EXILES!
It didn't work for Captain Britain & MI13. And god knows we were vocal about it. :frown:
Joe Q's stance right now, he said, is that it doesn't really matter how many letters we might send or messageboards we might talk up a book on, the only way to save a book is to buy more of it, and persuade others to buy more.
Sadly, any book under 23,000 US sales will get cancelled eventually. I think it's harsh to have done this after only 3 issues, but maybe it was just too soon to have relaunched the book.
The best we can hope for is that the real AoA Blink gets a chance to come to the 616 universe. And maybe, a few years from now, Marvel might consider a bigger eXiles relaunch.

The only way I would want this comic to be saved would be if they brought back Mimic ASAP.
Seriously though it is a shame this comic has been cancelled so soon, considering how long CC got before his run was cancelled.

All I want to know is where I'll can see Bullock and Espin's art now. They are the best cover and interior artist Exiles ever had (not that there was so much competition, beside Pelletier and Grummet).

I know you kind of kidding, but didn't he actually cancel a lot of x-titles when he first came in charge?

He did. Joe Q hates the X-Men as a franchise. In all universes.

Is this actually the quickest cancellation of a Marvel comic ever? I mean they didn't even make it to seven issues :(

You know, in this case, I actually don't think we can blame Joe Q. The bottom line is that even two years ago the sales this book is getting would have been acceptable. Since the worldwide recession kicked in late last year Marvel have quickly and dramatically changed their publishing strategy. Just look at the number of ongoing books Marvel is now putting out, compared to three years ago. It's dropped dramatically, and almost any ongoing not tied directly into Dark Reign has found itself either not lasting more than 18 months or being put on 'hiatus'.
The market has changed. Marvel are now putting out more one-shots and limited series per month (Almost all Dark Reign related) than at any time I can remember from the last 20 years. And each and every one is designed to maximise profit at a full $3.99 price tag per issue.
The only reason Runaways has survived at lower sales than a dozen cancelled books for the past 2 years is down to Marvel having to guarantee the title for several years in order to add it to their subscription service, and because of that long discussed possibility of a movie. Not that we've heard anything finite on that for a long time.
The bottom line is that for Marvel switching to more expensive one-shots and limiteds is cheaper for them, and makes more profit short term. It costs a lot more to keep a writer and artist ongoing on a book than it does to assign them to a 4 issue series and a one shot later in the year. It's totally at odds with the kind of Marvel which Joe Q tried to build in the earlier half of this decade, but in the current climate it very much looks like the money men are getting tetchy. This is all about maximising the amount of money coming in right NOW, to survive the current financial climate.
It doesn't work long term of course./ I mean how can you have a big summer crossover event if all the second tier ongoing books have been cancelled? In the long run it is a bit like cutting off your nose to spite your face.
eXiles has that unique ability that it can go and explore other lines which marvel are no longer publishing. Like 2099 (Although we do have this Timestorm series), or Heroes Reborn or Newuniversal, helping to broaden awareness of Marvel's extended IPs. Hell, with recent announcements, they could even stray into Marvelman's universe, if it was allowed.
But right now publicising anything without a the possibility of a movie franchise, or something which can make a shed load collected for Bookstores, is not on Marvel's list of priorities.
I'm sure that in a couple of years that will change again, as it has done in the past, but sadly eXiles is one of the casualties of it all.
Exiles should return as an ongoing mini series kinda like Marvel Zombies and HoM titles.

I honestly feel that Marvel should be taking that approach wwith ALL of it's second tier titles, right now.
It never did books like Hellboy any harm. And it help maintain a level of quality, by not having filler issues in an ongoing.
It also helps to avoid %^&£ing off fans, by at least giving them the idea that more is coming - rather than the negative image that cancelling a book generates.

the weird thing is, with the whole economic situation, it makes less sense to cancel the titles that aren't selling all that well.
You're trying to keep readers, not push them away. By canceling those titles you're trying to drive those readers to the titles that are already selling well. But by the rules of logic, each time you cancel a series, you're going to lose readers, people who don't jump from one title to the other.
Canceling titles isn't going to improve sales on other titles.
That's not how it works.

Long term I absolutely agree. But inthe short term the money men only look at it as another creative team's wage removed. Which in the short term probably does help them out.
It doesn't help maintaining the company in the long term though. As it alienates the readership, and just because a person no longer has Captain Britain, X-Men First Class, or Immortal Iron Fist on their monthly pull list certainly does not guarantee that they'll reinvest that spare cash in buying an Avengers or Dark Reign book.

good post. with the cartoons/anime marvel is dishing out right now, why not introduce the popular exiles (the better known members i mean) in an animated series? sure most of them are not as popular as the xmen, but if viewers will actually like the reality hopping adventures, who knows? kids would love watching a funky morph and blink and nocturne (and even namora  ). i know this might not happen in the future, but marvel can gamble on this if they run out of ideas for animated shows...

I think that an eXiles animated series in its own right would be as great idea. A fantastic way to showcase all of Marvel's many properties, not just single lines.

^ yep, and even if most viewers who dont read comics wont know who they are, well, it's like creating a brand new show with "new characters". and if the cartoon series will have a good following, they can relaunch exiles again
