Say Osborn doesn't survive the year (hopefully it's going to be Spidey who delivered blow to Normie's nuts), who do you think will take his chair in the Cabal membership?

The Kingpin? Doc Ock? Nefaria?

At the beginning,i thought that this year we gonna have a Doomcentric story, considering that Doom has made pacts with Namor and Loki before the creation of the Cabal.Anyway,i believe that Doom should be the perfect candicate as the head of the Cabal or let it dismantle after Norman's fall.

If Norman is taken out, I think the Cabal will disband. Thinking about it, the only person who really benefits from it continuing is the Hood. Doom has Latveria back, Namor has a new capital for Atlantis, Loki pretty much has control of Asgard and Emma is probably going to piss of Norman and be out of it by the end of the Utopia crossover. So once Norman is gone, I don't see any of them other than Hood wanting to keep it going.

Doom is pretty much the next person up after Norman cracks so I can definitely see Doom taking control of it since he has Namor's people and the Asgardians on Latveria. Plus he and Namor are planning something as usual.

But then again Norman does hold the most official status so I doubt the MU folk will put Doom in charge but I can still see them hold Cabal meetings in some capacity.

The main benefit of membership in the Cabal is being able to take advantage of Norman's position. If he goes down, what's the incentive to stay together?

None at all. If Norman falls so does the Cabal. But whoever his special enforcer is might be able to take on that task... and who that might be is BEYOND me.

For someone like Emma, nothing really.

But Namor, Doom, and possibly Loki had something going on on the side anyways. Whatever that is would likely end with them stabbing each other in the backs of course... but still there does seem to be an incentive beyond Osborn's offer.

And why couldn't they do those things without the Cabal?

They're in an alliance with the most powerful law enforcement agency in the US. Having that agency out of your hair makes it easier to do what you want without interferance.

Pretty much everyone has their own motives here. Without Osborn, the Cabal would fall apart because the glue that holds them together is Osborn's need to keep them all in line. Everyone in the Cabal has alterior motives.

I can't count how many times I've seen a character refer to the demise of Osborn's regime metaphorically as his "house of cards falling". He's gonna lose control, someone in the Cabal will lash back, someone in the hero community will lash back, and then it will all come crashing down.

That's what I wonder too. Doom and Loki want to take him down, but would that really help them?

I guess at least Doom wants to take Osborn's power after he falls, but how he intends to, I have no idea.

Loki only really cares about Asgard. I can't imagine HAMMER can do much to screw with his plans there. For Doom and Namor, who have more mortal kingdoms, it makes sense, and for the Hood, who commits bunches of crimes on US soil. It also makes sense for Emma to some degree-- mutants are persecuted, and being in the inner circle lets her keep an eye on things. But Loki? There's nothing Osborn controls that Loki should really care about.

Not my point since X-PAc mentioned there were reasons besides Osborn's position as to why these characters stay with the Cabal and I was asking what those reasons were?

Is there any reason for them be in the group, besides Osborn's position?
