Seriously, what the fuck is even going on in this picture?

Well, I think it should be obvious.

It's revealed that Frank Castle is actually a Kryptonian zombie from another universe, but when exposed to a shard of kryptonite it engages the nanites in his system to turn parts of his body into a cyborg. However, the cyborg bits are at war with the zombie bits and his body just falls apart.

Also, he wears Nikes.

Actually, i read Punisher.

First off..the image is two torn and mangled legs, with some form of a exoskeleton attached. The feet are showing rigor mortis and typical decay for a bodypart that has been dead for a while, but does not explain the freshness of the blood seen, unless that is the murder scene.

The context of these two torn limbs comes from the aftermath of the List, Norman Osborn's plan on dealing with his major problems, including the new avengers, the hulk, the punisher, wolverine, and spiderman, each being giving one shots sometime in the near future. The AFTERMATH from the Punisher is a storyline called Punisher: RIP. Speculation is that is Franks torn off limbs, or he is faking his death. I will conjecture that the exoskeleton may of belonged to Rampage, a character that was in his books recently.

Hope this was helpful.

Hmm. Alright.

Still, what a hideous, poorly thought out image.

Just further evidence that the Punisher does not and has never belonged in the Marvel Universe proper. Many would argue that point though.

I wouldn't use "poorly thought out". They probably had to position everything so you couldn't see too much gore, to appease the censors. Like that iconic "Tales from the Crypt" cover, with the guy holding a woman's head and an axe.

It still isn't very well done, though.

Can't you tell? Castle is gettin' into some seriously freaky necrophelia. With cheap Nike ripoff's no less!

It's the first appearance of his new lethal nemesis "The Deadly Leg"! He cannot defeat the feet, so he'd better tread carefully!

Yes, I'm in a "Really bad pun" kind of mood :).
