Considering the massive amount of art she's done for Buffy .. I would get a wee confused too but... yeah there's a difference.

She looks a bit manga but it is a good look.
Her eyes look a bit vacant and cold but she does have a bit of a mean streak so this may be appropriate.
I notice that she looks quite thin in these pictures but this style of art seems to suit an elongated, thin look rather than the more muscular style which is often used.

Her New Avengers Reunion covers were amazing! She should be WW regular cover artist for a while. Lopresti's covers just aren't that good anymore. The first few were okay, now they seem rush. Chen's work is beautiful.

It's not a coincidence that when Whedon decided to flirt with the slash in a recent (online only) Buffy comic, Chen was doing the interior art.

Talk about two scales...
if that was an underage Supergirl, there would be no end to the voices of indignation.

The two situtations are completely different. Robin's 17, he's a genius, he's grown up with a healthy understanding of human sexuality. Kara's 16, she's completely new to Earth and doesn't know anything about it.
Not to mention, who would you even femslash Kara with?

Yes and no. (Although there is no end to the discussion over Supergirl's panties and no end of boob shots for someone who is also supposed to be a minor...but let's not even go there.)
Personally, I think it's not as large a scale as you think. If Supergirl had an older female mentor the way Robin has always had Batman, I think there would be no end to the *wink-wink-nudge-nudge* kind of underage lesbian jokes.
If her mentor were male, then yeah, that is just creepy. Double standard? Sure. But making fun of Batman and Robin is one of my guilty pleasures. Why are you trying to take it away from me? :evilangry:

I donīt think there should be a double standard on this issue either.
If an underage girl is involved with an adult, itīs equally creepy and illegal whether the adult is a woman or a man.

I think the biggest difference is that this is a peice of fan art, not an actual comic that DC published.
There's tons of sexy Supergirl fan art and commissioned pieces. I don't generally see people getting all up in arms over it. It's the up-skirt shots and over-sexualized nature of the actual Supergirl comics that DC was putting out that people have a problem with.
Also, for the record, I 1) thought Tim Drake was 18, and 2) find the actual idea of Batman/Robin or Nightwing/Robin or anything like that kind of gross and incestuous. As a piece of fanart that has Batman humorously giving a thumbs up in the corner, it's kind of amusing though.
(Spider-Man and Nightwing is totally OK though and even to be encouraged, and in my dream world where they could still do Marvel and DC crossovers, there'd be a Batman and Spider-Man comic that had lots of Spider-Man and Nightwing bantering with eachother and while Bruce Wayne dates Mary Jane Watson.)

If they were real people, I would agree with you. Considering we're talking about a medium where it is completely okay for people to run around in tights and can be taken seriously even though they dress up like bats, I take its fan art (which by definition will be twice as wacky at least) with a grain of salt and will mock it or laugh with it accordingly.
Please remember how seriously we should take fan art and fan fiction:
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u77/Penemue269/SoWrong.jpg
Come on. Really?
And I agree with Scout, it's over-the-topness is what I find funny, but if you really want to take that fan art seriously, do consider that I'm pretty sure Nightwing isn't all *that* much older than Robin, and Robin isn't all that young. Isn't Nightwing like in his early twenties or something in Batworld?

Are Obi Wan and Darth Maul getting married there? I would kind of like to know who is interested in that pairing, since the idea of finding Darth Maul attractive baffles me a bit. Also, before I scrolled down, I thought Qui Gon was Jesus, which makes that picture even more hilarious.

For the life of me, I have no idea what the story is behind this picture. I picked it up from a friend of a friend who also found it hysterical, and would love to know what the deal was here. I keep it because of it's sheer cheesy awesomeness, and the fact that it's so bizzare, it almost hurts my head.
And yes, Qui Gon Jesus is the cherry on that layercake of awesome.

Why are any of those things icky? Sue wasn't allowed to date before Reed? (Although, since she fell in love with him when she was 12, I don't know when she had the time.) She did have a pretty major flirtation with Namor, and in my favorite issue of Untold Tales of Spider-Man (the 1996 Annual), she went out on a date with Spider-Man (it's continuity to me, dammit!). Is that icky?
I wasn't proposing and epic romance. Bruce Wayne pretends to be a playboy who dates models and starlets. Mary Jane is a model and a starlet who pretends to be a partygirl. They'd go out on a date. Wackiness would ensue, leading to a team up between Batman, Spider-Man and the extended Bat-clan.
Anyway, MJ has a history with Bruce, or at least a thinly veiled Marvel stand-in of him, who spent her wedding day trying to convince her to run off to France with him instead. Also, Mary Jane has already dated most of Peter's friends. If she had sex with Norman, that would be icky.

I'd read that just for the hell of it. Doesn't sound so far-fetched, though considering his dating history, she might actually be tame for him.
And then Spiderman would get all jealous and web him up and Batman would have a handy Spiderweb Bat Cutter Thingie in his utility belt (how convenient!), and then Catwoman would show up and get all jealous and then there'd be a fight between Mary Jane and Catwoman...

Mary Jane is too tame for Bruce, but she's the kind of girl he would date as part of the cover identity. Mary Jane would just date him because he is rich and hansome, but then she would get bored and ignore him, which actually might intrigue him a bit.
MJ is tough, but Catwoman would clean her clock. We might have to call in Balck Cat for that fight. Mary Jane would have gotten bored and left once Spidey and Bats started fighting. This is when she would run into Nightwing, the only member of the Bat-clan she might get along with, while he is busting the head of the guy who just sold Harry Osborn some drugs.

I regret throwing Doom and Tony into the equation since Batman is not evil.
In hindsight, I should have thrown, I dunno...Matt Murdock and Tony?
Fact is Iīm talking about total man-whores here.
The idea of Sue sleeping with that is about as icky as MJ sleeping with Bruce.

Dude, it's just a date. Who said anything about anyone sleeping with anyone? I think it would be completely in-keeping with her character, but I'm just talking about some wackiness ensuing, leading to high adventure and witty banter.
Anyway, this is way off the topic of how awesome and artist Jo Chen is, but it's made me think that it would be fun to see her draw Spider-Man and his supporting cast, because she draws everybody so pretty ad would make them look like the cast of a CW drama or something.

Yes, but we figure the whole Bat-clan is clean, because they are always prepared. And with the Spidey-cast, they had most of their wanton sex in the 70 and early 80s, so you can't judge them for it.
