Gail, can we get a sticky "J-bolt FAQ" thread started?
It is daunting for newcomers to YABS to wade their way through the winding paths of J-bolt continuity. We can post detailed summaries of major j-bolt events like his first email hyping his 'work', to meltdowns on boards or like the birth of fansites like jbolted.com. (The last one might not happen again (i.e never) for awhile)

Yeah ...J-Bolt deserves a Facts thread. This way people can see It from begining to end. I came to this board last fall and I had to go thru 2 huge threads. Now Its like a huge epic saga has branched from that.
The Internet didn't make J-Bolt , J-Bolt made the Internet. ( Imagine Denzel Washington sayin the Plymoth Rock line from the movie. )
I dont think it needs to contain EVERY scrap of info about him tho....just the pertinent facts to keep it concise and a jump on point for new readers....

Lets not.
J-Bolt is a fun distraction, but there is something inherently negative about him and seems to draw people down to his level (myself included...it is a real, real guilty pleasure.) Let's not make him the focus of this forum any more than he is.

I'd lose a week's pay to see your hub' and J-Bolt meet in person.
Have you ever seen the Warner Bros' cartoon when Sylvester was changed into a monster cat by a dose of Dr. Jekyll's stuff and he met the bulldog that was previously giving him a hard time ?
I'd imagine it'd go something like like that.
I'd think it would go more like this:
Husband walks up, extends hand for a shake: "Hi, I'm (first name) Simone, Gail's husband"
J-Bolt: "YOUR ONE OF THE BASHERS AREN'T YOU. AREN'T YOU." Runs away screaming "GAIL AIN'T REAL" over and over again.

I'm a little suspicious of "smart_attorney."
For starters, it hurts a lot that his description of libel is cribbed, word-for-word, from this site (http://www.cyberlibel.com/elements.html).
I'm uncertain that J-Bolt has done anything on the level of actionable libel against these writers and actors. While the movie certainly doesn't look to be an award-winner, him claiming that they're in his movie doesn't really expose them to public contempt or impugn their reputations. If "Bombshell" was a porn flick, then that'd be a better case for libel.
I'm really uncertain of what the JBolted folks supposedly did so as to invite legal action. They repeated what was posted on IMdB, but that's it. That's not libel. "Leslie Kennedy"s inclusion seems inappropriate.
Both are such minor and obscure deals that I would be very surprised about anyone wanting to make a federal case out of them. And the celebrities ain't exactly A-listers themselves. Just imagine Pat Morita going into federal court and claiming that some schmoe in Nevada damaged his reputation by claiming he was going to star in an action movie. It makes Pat look petty.
Even assuming that J-Bolt said something I missed (and granted, I have skipped most of the IMdB hijinks), you'd think a cabal of lawyers and investigators would have requested some preliminary injunctions already, or merely made some cease-and-desist requests, asking him to stop making those claims. There doesn't need to be multiple lawyers and lawsuits if the dispute can be handled with a single "Stop lying" letter.
Finally, the whole post is phrased like this is the lawyer's first communication with J-Bolt. It's specifically addressed to "J-Bolt", not Jim Fisher (as the attorney should know), nor is it framed as an informative letter to other posters. He talks all about what they're going to do, not what they've already filed or requested. I'm skeptical that a plaintiff's lawyer would first attempt to contact the defendant via a public message board, rather than through personal letter or a phone call.

Nice answer Loren. I do think the post from Samantha Fox's Representative was real and In fact was removed due to her finding out that she had been listed as Involved In this project. This hasn't been removed and If true It seems that Imdb would have yanked the entire message board and listing.
J-Bolt seems to have left Imdb and has been gone for days. So maybe he believes It.

I can believe that. An agent would be far more likely to post on a message board than an attorney. And the "reprentative"s post was much shorter and to the point. No extraneous legal points and warnings about what will happen if J-Bolt doesn't comply with their requests.

I think that both messages are a little suspect.
However, as the legal expert has re-joined this thread, I wonder if you would be willing to weigh in on a number of claims that J-Bolt has made. For instance, is it true that if I write anything about anyone without that person's express permission I have broken the law?
From IMDB:
It doesn't matter because my attorney has told me not to have any further direct contact with her (for breaking the law of volunteering some type of "sensitive" medical information to MacQuarrie) nor MacQuarrie, while these cases are going on.
So, go do whatever the heck you bashers do with yourself and leave me alone (or each other).

Anyone notice the Amy Jo thread, where J-Bolt claimed her agents were holding her back after she supposedly had agreed to do the movie for him, was also removed from the IMDb boards...

the administration had to be IMDb by the way, not J-Bolt since that is not his board and he would not have the option of removing posts made by other posters to that thread also.

So, supposedly, if I say on this board that I had chicken pox when I was sixteen, I can sue anyone who repeats it elsewhere by J-Bolt's version of the law. Because medical information, apparently can't be legally spread via word of mouth unless it's my medical condition. Or something goofy.

Barring some odd Nevada law I'm unaware of, I'd have to say no. Particularly the the person in question is J-Bolt.
Beyond defamation, courts have also recognized certain rights of privacy and publicity. You control the rights to your image, and you may be secure in certain intimate details of your life.
But newsworthy events are shareable, and because of this the rules are different for public and private individuals. If you're a public figure, such as a celebrity, certain personal details may be fair game even if the same personal details would be off-limits for a nobody. Public figures' lives are considered more newsworthy than nobodies'. And there's the whole issue of malice and intent wrapped up in this too. The fact that J-Bolt holds himself out as a celebrity would seem to open him up to at least a certain level of newsworthiness.
Just imagine, if J-Bolt was right about this permission thing, it'd be the death knell of every gossip mag and TV show in the country. The National Enquirer doesn't need permission to run exposes on celebrities (so long as they're not maliciously running false and damaging stories).
And since we're dealing with mere internet posts, I've gotta cop to some ignorance as to how those would be treated. A message board post is unlike slander because it remains for future people to read. It's unlike classic libel because there's not really the same intent in a message board post that goes into a mass publication.

So if I'm understanding correctly, at BEST J-Bolt would have to decide if he wants to be a celebrity, for his threatened-and-never-to-be-filed lawsuit against Jim for celebrity stalking, or not, for his class action lawsuit for people talking to him on a public message board. Is that right?
Man, I can't even type that without giggling.

The name "Bolt", based as it is on a common English word, cannot be copyrighted, though a distinctive image and motif for a character of said name can be trademarked. It's the same reason why a character named Thor can show up in both DC and Marvel comics with no legal wrangling ensuing. Same with most words. Anyone who wants can put out a comic with characters with names like The Cougar, Thunderbolt, Hunter, Darkness, Knight, etc. However, unique combinations of words can be copyrighted. Dark + Knight, for example... or even Bat + Man.

Nope.
Titles can't be copyrighted, nor can single words. Titles are explicitly excluded from copyright protection, which is why there are so many books and movies with the same title.
The word "Batman" by itself can hardly be considered a creative work. It does not meet the criteria of the law.
For that matter, a character like Batman can't be copyrighted; only specific drawings of or stories about that character can be copyrighted.
Copyright law applies to works, not concepts. Each issue of a comic, or even each panel of a particular issue, can be copyrighted, but that does not prevent anyone else from drawing or writing their own adventures of the character. If any of their panels or descriptions are too similar to published pieces, that would be a violation of copyright, but that's a slightly different thing.
That's where trademark law comes in. Batman's name and likeness are trademarks and cannot be used by anyone else.

So Jim, can you trademark a title?
At the risk of getting part of it wrong again, I'll say yeah, so long as it is distinct (i.e., not just a single, common-usage word). As Slam Bradley or someone on the Classic Comics board explained it (no doubt not confusing the terms, as I did above) - to use the Thor example again - anyone could publish a comic titled THOR, but Marvel has the trademark to THE MIGHTY THOR. Presumably anyone could publish DETECTIVE, but DETECTIVE COMICS is a DC Trademark. Meanwhile, Marvel published ALIAS - the adventuers of the character Jessica Jones - while at the same time someone else published a comic titled ALIAS based on the TV series, and neither could claim trademark to that title, so both could use it.

Innnteresting. My Batman: Shadow of the Dark Detective series may yet be a reality!
PatrickG
03-09-2005, 06:06 PM
Shadow of the Dark Detective... You could probably use.
While Batman AS A TITLE can't be trademarked, it can be trademarked as a NAME and likeness.
For instance, Phantom Lady's early adventures are public domain. Anyone can reprint them. But because DC has the *trademark* on the character name and likeness, small publishers who've opted to reprint Phantom Lady stories recolored the character and relettered the story to give her a new name. So while no copyright protects the story, a trademark still protects the name and likeness as I understand it.
I'm fuzzy on the Max Fleisher Superman shorts. They're public domain and can be advertized by the original title apparently... I wonder what would happen if someone tried to adapt them into comic book form using screencaps...
MacQuarrie
03-09-2005, 06:29 PM
So Jim, can you trademark a title?
Yes.
Trademarks protect identifiers.
That's the key difference: Copyright protects art, trademark protects commerce.
That's why, for example, the picture of Alfred E. Neuman that MAD uses, which has been in the Public Domain for over 100 years (as MAD proved in defending against several lawsuits filed by the alleged artist or his family), is nonetheless a valid trademark and therefore off-limits for almost all uses. (There is extremely limited precedent for incorporating trademarks in art [see Warhol, A.], but there is no specific exclusion in the law.)
So, while "Batman" or "Detective" can't be copyrighted, they can be trademarks.
MacQuarrie

Eh, I always confuse which of those two is which. What I said about "copyright", cross out "copyright", put in "trademark." The point is, using the name "Bolt" is fair game.
It is. Even if it's a trademark, one could still come up with an original character of the same name, but probably couldn't use it on the title of the comic.
Given the expense of trademark search/registration, I expect most publishers don't bother to file for trademark on their incidental characters anyway.

I've seen it. It's funny that no matter who it is, they are a big star, and we are all dying to see them take on the role. There isn't even a comic to base the movie on, but he's sure that we will agree that Samantha Fox is perfect for the part.
and then when we don't agree that someone that hasn't been seen on TV since the '80's is going to make us line up around the block to see her play a character we've never seen, he accuses us of bashing and states that he is not looking for big names. It's really the inconsistencies that make him so frustrating and yet so darned entertaining.
The Bolt has been suspiciously quiet recently. I wonder if he has been put back on his meds. I really think that his on-line mood swings are pointing toward some type of personality disorder. either that or he's been pulling double shifts at the kwiki-mart to get that last piece of financing.

I've seen it. It's funny that no matter who it is, they are a big star, and we are all dying to see them take on the role. There isn't even a comic to base the movie on, but he's sure that we will agree that Samantha Fox is perfect for the part.

Yeah...I miss his usual senseless debate. I asked him some questions and said that some Indie creators who have had thier movies optioned have said It was better to do a comic 1st because Hollywood Executives get hit with hundreds of scripts and If they see a good comic..the basis for the story Is already there.
J-Bolt claimed he knew the business and wanted to own his property. That they wanted Pamela Anderson to do the flick. If Pamela Anderson wanted to shoot a charactor I created then how fast would my name be signing ? ( thats pretty damn fast).
Part of me thinks he's not ever written a word at all In a comic. I'm thinking WLS 0# was something else entirely and we've seen that In 5 years he hasn't even took one attempt at writing a comic or posting It online.
The claim that If everyone goes and watched BOMBSHELL , that 100,000 fans are gonna go to his site or Comic Book store and buy WLS 0# Is complete fantasy. I pointed that Marvel never experinced some huge jump In readership at all from the movies of Spiderman, Blade or X-Men.
But J-Bolt perfers this delusion he's painted. Its freakin sad really. Him telling me how great he Is and how fan sites all over the globe Love Him...wow. I feel for the guy.

He did add a very sloppy, very rushed and rough (we'd call them, at VERY BEST, rough layouts) of Bombshell #1. Amazingly, he had the hubris to include 'director's commentary'-style notes under each page of his sketchy stick figures.
But the first three pages are more complete and do show a general improvement in his work. With time and patience, he could probably do some pro work.

MacQ sits down at a table in the Lightning Bistro.
Jim Fisher, the waiter, arrives and sets a check down.
Jim: Your total is $20. My name's Jim Fisher and I'm glad you chose us above our self-righteous and obviously somewhat inferior competitors on this day.
MacQ: Uhm. I haven't ordered yet.
Jim: I think you have. But if you want to push the issue, give me a plate so I can serve you.
MacQ: This is insane. I want to see the manager.
Jim exits hurriedly. Enter J-Bolt in a chef's hat and wearing "the mask".
J-Bolt: I'm the manager, J-Bolt. What seems to be the trouble, scum?
MacQ: Excuse me? ...You tried to charge me before I even ate...
J-Bolt: Ah. You mean my waiter, Jim Fisher, who looks nothing like me because I wear "the mask".
MacQ: Whatever. I'm not going to pay for food I didn't get.
J-Bolt darts into the kitchen hurriedly. Enter J.B. Fisher in a trenchcoat and fedora. There is a piece of paper extended from the fedora which reads "Press", the letters scrawled in orange crayon. He is not wearing pants.
J.B.: I'm consumer reporter J.B. Fisher and although I looked for something wrong here, I can't find anything. You cannot argue with me because I won a pew-litzer for defending smokers from outrageous tyrants in mall security!
MacQ: Whatever. Either I talk to, uhm, the manager or I'm leaving.
J.B.: I'll sue you! I mean, J-Bolt will sue you. I mean...
He darts out and returns in an all green costume with a cape. His mullet is neatly parted and his moustache is twirled.
J-Bolt: You can't see the J-Bolt! Not no way, not no how... If you wanna stop bashing, er, him then that's a horse of a different color...
MacQ arches an eyebrow at him. Toto barges in from the kitchen, barking at J-Bolt.
J-Bolt: Pay no attention to the man behind the mullet! Pay no attention to the man behind the mullet, I say...
***Three hours later***
J-Bolt: And so you see, MacQuagmire, the rye loaf you were looking for? Well, I know a lot of men who spend their whole lives looking for rye bread but I think it's most especially clear now that you've had rye bread in your heart all along, MacQuiggles.

My main reason to pipe up is this, petty as it is. I'm sat in England, part of Britain, and I'll be jiggered if any part of the press, even the worst most breast obsessed parts, has mentioned 'Bombshell'.
Hell, in these days of over senstivity the tabloids would probably be up in arms should they even hear of such a film. Such harsh words, 'Bomb' and 'Shell', couldn't she be called 'hugshell'?

I found J-Bolt's "international" fan sites:
http://cn.geocities.com/spiders_my/newmovies/2004/BombShell.html
A CHINESE info site on the film. (I bet this what he means by his fan clubs in Japan.)
http://www.comicforum.de/archive/index.php/t-10629
A message board where Germans are laughing at him.
The infamous OMAR had this to say:
Pearson was one of J-Bolt's more promising students, as I recall. But it seems that for all he learned from J-Bolt re:anatomy and composition, he could use some of his teacher's work ethic as well. So for him to talk of epic runs seems a bit strange.
Is OMAR J-Bolt? Who thinks J-Bolt is prolific? OMAR later tried to refute this claim.
J-Bolt was dubbed Fresh by howfreshisthisguy.com, except they define freshness as:
As of late, it should have become clear to any visitor to this site that, as an enterprise bearing the word "fresh," in any of that word's many meanings, this site is an utter failure. It is apparent to even the occasional visitor that the site's "freshness" has long since turned distinctly stale.
Is J-Bolt also Tim Bedgood?
From a Jackson Bostwick forum:
By the way, I just got an inside scoop that Lightning Bolt Productions will even be selling 1 point in the film on eBay. Whoever wins that bid will be able to work right next to Jackson. Their eBay handle is lightningboltentertainment so you know who to watch for because the listing is supposed to be up there within the next couple of days. I'm hoping the bidding starts REALLY low, but this is the first time I've ever heard of a major motion picture offering a point in a film on eBay, of all places. I guess you really can find anything there.
More to come.

I e-mailed the head of the Art Department at J-Bolt's alma matter:
Professor Vuillemot,
I'm a Theatre student at **** in ****... However all of the visual and linguistic arts are of interest to me. I'm trying to compile some resources online for some friends regarding the history of sequential art as a field of study at post-graduate institutions. This would include cartoon storyboarding and comic books.
I understand that the Savannah College of Art and Design is at the forefront of the field and that the Joe Kubert school comes highly recommended.
I know that your school has at least one graduate who is successful in the field (Jason Pearson) and I was intrigued when I heard that your school once offered a class in comic book art. The professor, I believe, now signs his work "J-Bolt" but I think his name is Jim Fisher.
I have friends interested in the field of comic book art and I field questions about the industry all the time as I have friends and acquaintences in the business. I was just curious if you could confirm or share any information about when Professor Fisher's class was offered and maybe share a brief course description. It's my understanding that Jason Pearson took the class and so I figured that any information on a class offered by your school that was influential in a successful commercial artist's career might be worthwhile information.
Thanks!

That's an interesting point from TCJohnson. J-Bolt has used Jason Pearson's name to improve his credibility. Since he has opened that door, i think it would be fair to provide his thoughts on the class.
Of course, J-Bolt has used this in the past as evidence of the unfair "bashing". His claim that Jason Pearson attended a class that J-Bolt taught was proven. So the fact that Mr. Pearson had a negative experience should not enter the record, according to J-Bolt.
Still, I would like to hear a first hand account of the man.

I agree that nobody should REMEMBER it, Gail.
But this is a college. It may be a community college. But it is a college.
There is a paper trail. Course catalogs. Flyers promoting a course. Yearbook photos of faculty.
It kindof galls me that somebody like J-Bolt could dupe higher education. Even community college higher education.
Once I have a little info like the year(s) he taught, it's only five minutes of research, five minutes of paperwork and two weeks of waiting until I could have the full scoop on J-Bolt's career as a college instructor.
So far, we've done expose work for fun... But now that people's agents are contacting IMDB and now that J-Bolt has vanished from the 'net, I'd say the show's over. I want to put together a full picture of what we're dealing with here.
Bruce Campbell's advice about publishing a book has been taken to heart. While I wouldn't spend months of my life on it, I'd say it's worth a little page turner -- under 100 pages. Pure facts. I think the story sells itself without the photo manips and parody fanfics. It's time I brushed off my journalism skills and checked out what I can about this weirdness magnet of a man before all availible information on J-Bolt and LBC disappears forever.

You might be barking up the wrong tree. I don't know about Nevada, but here in SoCal, just about any idiot off the street can sign up and teach a non-credit Continuing Education/Community Education class on just about any subject through the local community college. They take their cut and sometimes provide use of a classroom. I'll bet a dollar that's what we have here.

But I guess some part of me figured that one Master's would at least guarantee me a slot slightly above the poverty line for a few years at some community college.
But if ANYBODY can teach there, I gotta aim for tenure at a semi-prestigious private school now. I don't wanna get mixed up with a place that has basket weaving classes taught by non-degree holding ex-cons.

You missed part of it: Community colleges offer NON-CREDIT classes. Usually they call it "Community Education" or some such. These classes might include things like English as a Second Language or vocational education such as Welding. More often the classes are special-interest and personal enrichment offereings such as Ballroom Dancing, Stained Glass, Website Design, and occasionally Comic Book Art.
At our local Community College, that class was taught by Mike Vosburg. I guess Vegas can't be so picky.

the teaching credentials are humorous.
Kirk recently received a letter from a University asking if he would be a guest teacher for 12 weeks of classes. the person who wrote the letter contacted him based solely on 'someone' mentioning his name on a local comic book forum. Kirk is more than adequate when it comes to spur of the moment art work, but a teacher, he definitely is not. (and he will be the first one to say so). any school that would hire bolthead for a job, did not research his credentials very much in advance, and likely just needed to fill a spot in their catalog. if they did research them, the story is bigger still, because that would mean bolthead is a real name talent pretending to be a no name talent. in that case, the story would actually be interesting. patrick if you can't get a book out of it, you can at least wikify bolthead.
which reminds me...

What credentials?
I know a woman who teaches a Community Education class through the local college. She teaches metaphysics. Aura reading. In her day job she does graphics production for a temp agency. Her "credentials" are entirely self-created.
J-Bolt basically rented a classroom from the college. Students did not get any college credit for attending his class; it was not listed as part of their actual curriculum.

03-17-2005, 11:30 PM
BTW, Kirkman claims he "copyrights" characters by doing ads for work that he eventually plans to do. Snafu of language aside, he doesn't get the full protection by doing this, does he? He just gets grandfathered and even then it doesn't protect work that hasn't been done yet, right?
If he does an ad for "Spandex Lass", I could still go out and register the name as a trademark and copyright a hastily drawn issue, right? That would block him from printing anything except the ad unless he changes the series name, wouldn't it?
Now... My $.02 on the matter is that it WOULD be wise for him to trademark his characters officially if he has big plans for them. Copyright is probably less importan for him. He's published by Image and they should have sufficient archival records to shut down somebody selling xeroxed copies... It seems to me that copyright registration isn't THAT big a deal. A poor man's copyright has a decent chance of being enough to protect against piracy or plagiarism.
But trademarking SHOULD be a bigger concern, at least if you want to name an actual comic and/or products after a character.

I was thinking today on how I would start a biography on J-bolt, preferably film or comic.
I'd start with him as a teen telling an adult (guidance counsellor perhaps) that he wants to be a comic book artist, and showing his page of work. Everyone is impressed.
Cut to years later, and he is doing a similar explanation to what he wants to do/be to a comic book publisher, to back it up he pulls out his art portfolio, and it's the exact same page.
It also got me to thinking about his comics, his outlandish prices for signed art, his big dreams but lack of work, his self worshipping, his haircut etc....
I think J-bolt is hooked on coke.
Seriously, it would explain all the self-hype with no output, the website shop where he has nothing to sell, his need to be in hollwood, the fact he thinks telling people his film has oscar consideration even though he's nowhere near even having a finished script (let alone being even close enough to having his days full of work on getting it made) etc.
Re-think over everything you know about J-bolt, every announcement he has every made.
Now picture him doing a line off a glass table just before hand.
Suddenly, it all makes a lot more sense.

Greetings and Salutations, one and all,
First off, I signed up on St. Patty's day, and tried to post. I think I muffed it up -- trying to post, but if it actually went in, and was deleted, I apologize greatly for any unappropriate things I may have typed.
Anyway...having said that...As a lurker, I've enjoyed watching all of your comments about Bolty, as I've educated myself on his history. I stumbled upon "Bombhell" while somewhat randomly hitting links on IMDB. As I first saw the boards, and saw a little of McQuarrie, I wondered if he was perpatrating his biggest hoax, (although deep down I knew it wasn't him, but just WISHED it was a joke).
Unfortunatly, I've known several people like bolty. Still, bolty takes it much further than any of the psychos I've personally known. I pity him, but I also can't help but point out his inconsistancies.
I just had a friend go to the Vegas area. He was keeping his eye out for him, and his "art / comics". He didn't find JACK. He actuallly didn't want to ask too much, if at worst, to pump up bolty's ego. He did say that from the local comic store scene, they claim there are several "unstable" type of people.
Well, I have held off of joining this forum for 2 reasons. First off, when I first stumbled upon bolty, I hoped to make him see some sort of reality without being considered part of one of the "bash boards". (These boards, in REALITY being a J-Bolt reality check.) Second, I was worried that I didn't belong here since I'm really not a follower of comics and such. Gail, said it would be o.k. for me to at least join fellow "BOLT-HEADS
So, I hope to comment on bolty as I can. I don't plan on saying much about comics, but if I do, realize, I don't know feces and it's just what I think. BTW, I don't know how much you had to do with the TV show that was based on your character, Gail, but the one little bit of the one show I saw looked pretty good. Kudos.
Be excellent to eachother.............

Re-think over everything you know about J-bolt, every announcement he has every made.
Now picture him doing a line off a glass table just before hand.
Suddenly, it all makes a lot more sense.[/QUOTE]
I've now heard the cocaine theory, and the chrystal meth theory. I can't see if either is right or wrong. Unfortunatly, I've seen people just as delusional as bolty without doing any drugs. People can be just as messed up without being on drugs. Still, those two propositions are VERY valid.

I'd say coke over meth.
Meth makes you go really fast, but you do have some grounding in reality, and makes people agreeable for the most part - (or so I've heard.... *cough*) - unless they're hooked or an asshole.
(basically if your in a good mood you'll be really happy, if your not.... well you shouldn't be messing with drugs).
Coke makes you beleive your invincible and right about everything. It's a big ego booster, and makes everything you want to do seem possible, though it seems to drain people of the ability to do anything.
You get so full of confidence that you don't believe any nay sayer, even if they are pointing out a fact (see the Boogie Nights scenes where Dirk Diggler tries to record music).

If Coke and Meth make you believe your own hype to this degree then damn....Its a bad drug kiddies. Stay away or you'll come online and make foolish statements about how powerful ya are and how connected to Hollywood you are too.

If J-Bolt was tweaking speed then he'd be almost unable to stop churning out bad comics. And while tweaking is good at making you enjoy a repetitive task and can make you feel immune to fatigue eventually if you push it too far it WILL catch up with you and you will collapse and probably spend a few months after that in a state of depression where you sleep fourteen hours a day and enjoy nothing. Then you find a substitute like soda or coffee and you drink that in enormous quantities until you have to stop that because your kidney's hurt and THEN you get a couple of weeks where you spend all your spare time napping and THEN you are pretty much free. That's assuming that you state off of ephedra and psuedo ephedra based diet pills.
Don't do drugs kids. Even drugs that make you more productive have a huge price when you abuse them.
But I agree that J-bolt under speed would either be producing and losing sleep in devestating cycles of rise and fall or he'd be on the floor without enough energy to make posts and argue with people.
I think the Mask says coke head shades but I have no expereinece with cocasine except for having some used to numb my gums before an oral surgery once. The dentist made me spit it out. and wrinse once it was working.

He also maybe taking medications which are screwing up his form of reality to a degree. Gail and him have said he has a bad back and this maybe what Is causing his delusions and his breaks here and away.
I know MacQuarrie has said that he feels J-Bolt has a Bi-Polar personality and that when he's not taking his meds he doesn't care what someone types. But when he Isn't...watch out because he'll post up a storm and go off on anyone who doesn't take what he says as the gospel.
In a related deal a few years back one of my dads friends himself had this happening to him. When he drank and took too much medication for his variety of ailments he would have these delusions of grandier where his wife ran to Europe with a guy while he was away In Vietnam. As well as writing his Imaginary biography. ( my dad always shook his head at this and told me that his friend was 10 at the time of the Vietnam War .)

Guys, I'm going to ask that we not speculate on anything like a drug problem. I'm sorry, but that's not cool. No one here actually knows J-bolt and I don't think it's fair or right to speculate on this.
Okay?
Thanks.

I know, even his fan site and Imdb forums have gone quiet.
Maybe he's out seeing if Tootie from Facts of Life can play BOLT.

I would have thought that Nancy McKeanan(sp?) would make a more appropriate BOLT.

So, I hope to comment on bolty as I can. I don't plan on saying much about comics, but if I do, realize, I don't know feces and it's just what I think.
It's rare that we are actually talking about comics around this board. The other CBR forums are for Comics, this one is for politics, J-Bolt, and general weirdness. :D

I saw a drug problem as somthing I could laugh at, otherwise, every now and again I start thinking that it often sounds like a possible mental disorder of some kind, and then I don't find the J-bolt thing funny (where as if he was an addict I would - go figure).
(okay, I still find J-bolt funny, but I feel guilty for finding it funny).

This guy always struck me as "J-bolt-esque" http://www.beyondcomicsinc.com/main.html
He was reported about in LITG - mainly Rich was a bit annoyed about such a xenophobic character and had serious doubts about the book "Civillian Justice" being called a 9-11 charity book.
It's just got the same vibe of overhyping, and his video interview is hilarious, and bit part in a hollywood film (though his is in Spiderman).
That said, in his defence he did actually release a book and do a spawn pin-up.
but to j-bolt him up some more every time Rich criticised him a brand new poster would appear to make fun of Rich and defend Civillian Justice.
but this attachment says it all for me...
