View Full Version : Will this ruin my comic reading?

Hers the deal. I have read and collected every Batman/Detective comic from the mid 80's to present. I am only upto Hush right now and try to stay away from anything that will give away the future storylines.

I got so wrapped up into comics, I decided I wanted every single DCU comic produced from abrond '04 to current. I completed my collection last month and getting close to reading every comic from '04 and up.

Here is the problem. I go to the Wizard World Chicago show every year but I am afraid that if I go this year, it will spoil all the great storylines I will be reading this year.

Should I go and cover my eyes a bit, or just stay home, save my money and look forward to next year. I really love to go and get my sketch book filled out by artists, I am sick over this.

Methinks you're taking comics way, way, way too seriously.

Kinda, but but I like reading them and would hate to find out who/if there is a new Batman, or that during Final Crisis WW got raped by Darkseid.

I am being sarcastic but you see what I mean.

Wow , so much money to burn and with the economy in recession. You must have made your comic bookstore owner very happy with all your purchases.

Isn't hanging out on a DC forum just as risky? I'd say go to the convention and have a great time!

i say your safer at the convention than hanging out on a comic book forum, in which spoilers pop up constantly, a lot of times w/o warning.

I can't see that really happening unless you're attending panels or fan discussions. But, for arguments sake, lets say someone did let the cat out of the bag regarding something, you'd still have the entire story leading up to that event, and what follows that event. Would learning one small detail really ruin everything for you? Doubtful.

It's safer to just never go outside again.

Spoilers can be lurking around any corner...

True. I'd stop reading newspaper and watching tv too. You never know what pops up.

If you seriously want to have your cake and eat it too, then go to the convention, get your sketchbooks filled out, ignore every scheduled event that has anything to do with DC, don't look at the covers of comics or any printed matter whatsoever including posters, and if you are really hardcore wear the best noise-blocking earplugs you can find, and don't talk to anyone.

I'm actually not being sarcastic. If the decision is truly making you sick then you just have to psych yourself up for these extreme measures because that's pretty much what it would take to not accidentally encounter spoilers. You seem like you might have the discipline though.

On the other hand I think Spectreguy might have the better suggestion. You'd have more fun if you just went with the intention of enjoying yourself and accepting the risks and consequences. Even if stories do get spoiled you have years of comic book stories ahead of you that will be totally new, no worries.
