View Full Version : Question: How did Superboy-Prime capture Mister Mxyzptlk?

I skimmed the Wikipedia entry on Countdown to Final Crisis to get background before reading Final Crisis and noted that Superboy-Prime captured Mr. Mxyzptlk and forced him to surrender his magic powers to him. Could someone explain how he did that? It seems a bit far-fetched to me.

Answer: It happened in COUNTDOWN, so you can ignore it.

Superboy-Prime just flew in and grabbed Mxy, then beat him up until he couldn't stand. It happened mostly off screen and we didn't know it was Prime until a couple of issues later.

Thanks for the fill-in. I had been wondering if it had been handled in a plausible way. Doesn't seem like it.

To be fair, when dealing with a flying guy who can shoot lasers from his eyes and hit hard enough to punch a hole in reality, who's trying to capture a little immortal man who comes from 'The 5th Dimension'(?) and has all sorts of magical powers, I'm not sure that the word 'plausible' should really come into the conversation. :biggrin:

Superboy-prime was responsible for the death of a Guardian just before Countdown. Apparently he had absorbed some of the Guardian's energy to give himself a bit of a powerboost (that eventually faded). Not the best explanation, but it's countdown.
