Would you rather Beast started looking human again or became even more mutated?

I don't like Beast's cat form, in fact I hate it. What I wish for is that they give the guy a break and make him look human again. Either that or they push his mutation even further and come up with something new. Personally I'd like to see him become human looking again, but with blue skin and fur. And some hair on his body, not like Wolverine, but not hairless. I think if they made him attractive, in his mind, it would lead for an interesting story to see him change into the shy/nice guy into some cocky guy that's full of himself.

When I first 'met' Beast in a comic book, he was already Cat Beast, so I wouldn't mind him keeping that look, because I started to like the character that way before I even knew he mutated to the cat look. The major problem with cat Beast is it seems that no two artists can seem to draw him the same way so he always looks different from apperance to apperance. Either it is just too hard for them to get it right or they just don't think about. Either way you never really had that problem with the old looks. There might have been a little differance from artists to artist, but nothing as radical as you get with cat beast.

I would vote for Monkey Beast myself since I think that was his iconic look.

Reverting Henry to human would be senseless and ruin his character. He's the perfect representative of the problems the mutants face - so different on the outside but all too human on the inside. Lose the blue fur and he's just another mutant that can easily pass for a flatscan. Where's the drama?

As for losing his agility, he hasn't - the writers just haven't utilized it that much. Whedon did use it. Beast breaking into the heavily secured complex in search of the cure and the great scene where he dropped Xavier, leaped to take out Danger and then caught Xavier just before he hit the ground were great examples.

I love the cat look myself. It's very regal, and ferocious and intimidating when he needs to be. However, I have resigned myself to the fact that he probably will be eventually returned to ape form. I am not resigned to seeing that haircut again.

What made Beast great (and in retrospect something I underappreciated about him) was EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE. Here is a guy, one of the few people, on the proper X-Men team that doesn't look human. Yet you get all these whiny teen mutants who tend to look like ordinary teenagers but they are just "misunderstood" or so they say ad nauseum.

And yet he doesn't. We don't have "Beast stares into the mirror crying... why can't the see the human soul beneath this blue fur?" Instead, we have Beast bouncing along, happy, well-adjusted, and intelligent, rarely complaining at all. The great thing about Beast was that looking at him, he would be a great vehicle to drum the "outcast" storylines, but as near as I can recall he has tended to not go for those stories at all. There's a strength and character to him, that gave the team a certain dignity above the obvious drama angles.

I never cared for Hank as a lion-man. Probably because the gorilla is my favorite animal, I say go for a more ape-like look. However, when I say ape-like, I mean go really ape-like. Not just a blue furry man like some draw him. Go the X-Men: Evolution route and give him extra long arms and have him walk on his knuckles sometimes. Don't just say he has extra-dextrous feet by showing him holding stuff with them on occasion, give him the semi-opposable "thumb toe" that sticks out like apes have. If you're going to do it, then do it right.

As for further mutation, I'm okay with this idea, but I have a suggestion. The idea behind turning him into cat-beast was to base his look off an old French movie adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. However, "Beast" as lion-man has always been a more uncreative way to go. So, instead, why not take a cue from Disney's version and make him a composite creature with traits from many different animals. Then he'd seem like a truly fantastical beast. Just a thought.

You must have assumed by drama I only meant pathos, but I didn't mean just that. The fact that out of all the mutants, Beast appears so different from a normal human but is actually one of the most erudite, educated, accomplished and sophisticated of the X-Men and he is often celebrated for those reasons. He's the perfect example of why not to judge books by their covers. Reverting him to human would be a mistake.

And yes, the pathos does sometimes happen. He is human, and like any human he does sometimes let things get to him and he's had a rough time of late. I'd find it much more interesting to see him get past that and regain his self-acceptance and confidence than simply wash all his development away by changing his outer form.

This may or may not be a popular answer, but I personally would like for The Beast to back to The Avengers. He seems like largely a rather morose character over the past 10 years, especially since his secondary mutation. He used to be a very happy-go-lucky character when he hanged out with the likes of Wonder Man. So I guess I would like for Hank McCoy to look like an Avenger.

I always really really prefered the Beat as human looking. I think as a non-furry he was really cute, and his build, muscular stocky but very agile made him eye-catching without the gimmick of making him furry. And I could write poetry about how sexy those big bare feet are, and I don't normally even think about feet.
