View Full Version : DC comics should have really pushed Power Girl's character since Infinite Crisis....

I'm serious, Outside Superboy Prime Power Girl should have also gotten more Spotlight in the aftermath of Infinite Crisis...

Like for example.... The Anti-Monitor's re-appearance in the Sinestro Corps event, besides Superboy Prime, Power girl should have been in the front and center of it all trying a chance to fight against the monster that destroyed her original home world.

I mean even when Superboy Prime escaped the Green Lantern Corps, Power Girl should have been notified at the first moment.

Now, here we are in Blackest Night, once again in an event written by Geoff Johns with the return of Earth-2 Superman, and possibly Earth-2 Lois, as a Black Lanterns, and Power Girl is barely mentioned within the Solicts.

It a shame to me for DC comics to treat such a character this way, I mean during the 52 event or after the events of "Thy Kingdome Come" in the JSA series, there should have been a moment in her life to try to rediscover what she truly is in this world.

I mean look at her latest series which is pass two issues, I mean it's nothing more than a sexist joke with cheesecake art.

Who here agrees with me on all this and thinks that DC should once again re-examine Power Girl's current status quo ?

Because after all that happen to her, you think that she would have had a full nervous mental Breakdown by now. :frown:

She has her own monthly book and as shown in Superman #662, she's much stronger emotionally and mentally, than one would believe. She pretty much has the attitude that if someone tells her that she isn't Kryptonian, she'll bust their skull open.

And no one on Earth was told about the Sinestro War until it showed up on their door step. Hal, John and Guy didn't say anything because they didn't think that Earth was going to be a target. They thought that the 7200 GL's could handle the situtation, as did the Guardians. That's why as soon as Power Girl found out that Prime was on Earth, after helping Clark, she and Kara went to deal with him.

Personally I'm loving Powergirl's comic so far, though I do agree with what you said about them needing to have used her alot sooner than this.
I think she'd be way more popular if they made better use of her. She's actually a pretty interesting character and I think alot more readers would get and appreciate that if DC took the time to put her in some mainstream stories and show that she's not just a pin-up girl.
That said, as Mat001 pointed out, she's actually one of the most well-balanced and emotionally stable heroes in the DCU from what I've seen. That's the main reason I like her so much, she's completely comfortable with who she is. She doesn't fear using her powers the way Clark sometimes does, she doesn't have one of those 'great power, great responsibility' hang ups. She just accepts that she can break a mountain with her fist and keeps on going, willing to do whatever she can to help people, and if things in her personal life get a little confusing in the process then she rolls with the punches works through it and continues on.

They've already said there goal was to better establish PG as a main stay of the DCU in this new comic of hers, and I still have faith that they can do that.
As to the cheesecake art factory, I think it's being handled a lot better now than it has been in the past, and I don't think there is ever going to be an escape for it because... Well, let's face it, her defining attribute is made for cheesecake art. Better to have a little fun and joke about it than to try and ignore the two giants in the room.

Just because she's not mentioned in the solicit doesn't mean she's not featured in the story ...
