Burt Reynolds nabs starring role in GL Film ! Warners claims Ryan Reynolds annoucement colossal typo !

Warner Brothers annouced yesterday that Ryan Reynolds was the new Green Lantern. But it was a huge typo according to Warners. The man who they hired to play the cocky test pilot Hal Jordan ? Burt Reynolds ! Which should have fans with their mouths going "What the hell ?"

TV producer Jon Peters , he of Superman Returns and the decade in the making Superman film, summed it up best : "Burt was at his zenith as The Bandit. Cocky , getting the girl. He was the master of cool. We knew we wanted The Bandit to play Hal Jordan !"

"Also , Burt likes to go bare chested a lot in his movies. Guy has a killer physic at his age !" Peters mused.

Of course this has some fans questioning why ? Why cast such an old actor. Peters was quick to jump in and respond once this age question was asked.

"Because young cocky pilots are pretty faggity. People already joke about Tom Cruise and whats his name in Top Gun. Plus we wanna do Emerald Twilight as a script and having Burt as Hal , lose it all is pretty cool."

Peters went on to say that Hal will not fly and the costume will be changed as well. Since he also considers the Green Lantern uniform to be faggity as well. How this plays out in the mega GL movie remains to be seen. Filming starts soon in Australia .

Hmm. While they were both in The Cannonball Run, I don't think Moore is ideal for this.

I could kind of see Jamie Farr though, as a slightly cheesier version. Or maybe Bert Convy.

Geez, I just realized how much of The Cannonball Run cast is dead: Farrah Fawcett - dead. Dom DeLuise - dead. Dean Martin - LONG dead. Sammy Davis Jr. - dead as a doorknob. Jack Elam - dead. Jimmy 'The Greek' - dead. George Furth - dead.

Jackie has flirted with near death a lot though. Doing his own stunts and all. I remember the extras in the DVD section of Rumble in the Bronx and he broke his ankle. Now you'd think...theres no way Chan will do his stunts with a cast on his ankle. Nope...he just had a special cast made to look like his shoes and kept going , leaping across a building in a scene.

At first I was thinking "Loni Anderson with a black wig", but then it occurred to me that this kind of casting would be too stuck in the past. Ergo... "Pamela Anderson in a black wig".
