View Full Version : Seth Green as on screen figurehead on Monday Night Raw

The special "guest host" for Monday Night Raw this coming Monday will be none other than Seth Green.

This has the potential to be either really great or a train wreck... or both...

For those who don't know, the special guest host on Raw each week holds full power and authority over the show and the wrestlers (storyline wise). They can make matches, fire people, and do whatever else they want to do.

Edit: Here's a link. (http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/SethGreengmofraw?cid=2009EP-00)

Monday Night Robot Chicken RAW...he should do a skit where HHH walks to the ring and tears his quads:biggrin:

HHH would just get up on one leg, pedigree each member of the Raw roster into a pile and pin them all clean at the same time.

And then beat them down with a sledgehammer.

God, The Closer must be pissing in his 'flakes right now. This is the second time they beat them. Not to mention his next PPV premptivly sucks.

Vince is desperate and he thrashing wildly.

Maybe I should invest in a fiddle?

Seth Green should be too good for this.

Still, he's easily the best writer ever to earn a check from WWE this decade. Sad that it will be for his celebrity, and not for his pen.

Although, wasn't Freddy Prinze Jr. on their writing team for like a year and a half? He and Seth are pretty tight... I wonder if that's how the hookup was made?

Odds are, though, it's just to shamelessly plug the upcoming Robot Chicken Star Wars II special coming to DVD.

Seth Green is actually a wrestling fan and was in attendance at WrestleMania a few years ago.

He was, but quit.

Sure, going through a hectic schedule is always good for a paycheck, but it isn't worth it when all your ideas get shot down by a 60+ year old bodybuilder with the mindset of a twelve year old trapped in the early 90's and you get pushed around by guys who think bullying makes for great humor.

So's Billy Corrigan from Smashing Pumpkins, but this "guest host" thing... are they trying to turn hosting Monday Night Raw into the new Saturday Night Live or Muppet Show hosting?

I still laugh when I hear the story of people trying to explain how fans would love Pirate Paul Burchill to Vince, because of Jack Sparrow from POTC, and he blew them off, and kept insisting they needed to turn him heel, because pirates are bad guys, and nobody cares about them, anyway. Some of the best ideas get left by the wayside.

Although, sometimes Vince is brilliant on the creative end. Giving Ted DiBiase the idea for the Million Dollar Man, and later repackaging it as "Mr. McMahon" was all him. Hits and misses, I suppose.

Actually, Prinze was hired, but rarely contributed, in fact, he rarely showed up at all. By the time he was released, he hadn't been to a taping in nearly two months.

But don't let the facts get in the way of your WWE bashing.

Prince Jr was a WWE fan and really its said wanted to write the product at 1st. But then he realized , once your inside the company ...not so easy. Its said he pitched some things and a lot was shot down by Stephanie since she's head of Creative.

The WWE goes thru TV Writers like its no ones business. Usually ya hear about each one either quitting or being fired. Since after a few weeks/months of hetic travel , Steph/Vince shooting them down mostly, and the overall job as Sports Enertainment writer as high as being Jerry Springer tv writer....they leave.

And really Royal...you honestly believe that Vince has this secret plan to believe this is some compitition to UFC ? Bringing out Seth Green is his way of doing it ?

Hell they had a good concept for a long term storyline with Donald Trump but blew it in grand fashion.

I'd like a source on that.

The stuff I'm refrencing on was from audio shows Brian Alverez would do with former WWE writers as well as Meltzer's journalism and commentary from Jim Cornette.

uuuhhhhh no. This is Vince's way of fighting off TNT. He got ass raped by them the last couple times. When have the UFC or MMA ever run any kind of "counter programing" against them on Monday night?

And yes, Meltzer has reported that WWE Offices does keep tabs on The UFC, has failed to discredit it twice and yes, officials hate people under their umbrella who have or is working with any form of MMA. Look it up in the ESPN podcast library under the BS Report.

Since I have been gradually getting interested in WWE programming again...who were the guilty parties? I know that JBL was terrible in that respect, and I was very happy to read that he got knocked down by JOEY-FREAKIN'-STYLES when he tried to push him around. Having Mysterio beat him in under a minute was the kind of final match that guy deserved.

I hope they aren't all like that. CM Punk, for one, seems to be pretty cool (http://cmpunk.livejournal.com/11895.html), so I hope he's above that kind of shit.

I know Layfield and Johnny Ace are chief instigators. I've heard that HHH has joined in a couple times, expounding his stupid "dues" speech. I've heard Bob Holly and Taker would be part of it too, but there's not enough indicators for either of them.

HHH is probably going to be around forever, but at least Holly is gone and hopefully Taker will stay gone. (Sure, he's worked a lot of very memorable matches, but damn.)

TNT has the Closer on Mondays. Its a scripted Hollywood show and only airs 12-15 new episodes a season when it airs. I had heard its ratings are huge and theres no way Vince can really compete against it to be honest. Vince appeals to the teenager and male 18-34 graphic. The Closer seems the type of show that gets the female demographic and older person to watch.

And its not lately Vince has lost to TNT. He's lost for a few years since the show became hot.

Didn't a few years back the UFC run a fight not on Monday to counter the WWE ? I remember you hyping it all up and all . Thats when UFC 1st started on Spike TV then.

It shocks me really... Jim Ross in his weekly blog wished Lesnar luck tonight to win. If they had wanted it to fail...why promote it and claim you had a part in Lesnar's success ?

Considering how many times it's been proven Vince has absolutely NO idea what pop culture is and acts accordingly, and just off the top of my head I'm thinking Pirate Burchill, although there are many many other examples of this, how in the world can VKM even know who Seth Green even is?

I believe this that Seth Green likely came to Vince's attention by Brian Gerwitz to be honest. Gerwitz's mind is in the late 90's. Its why he believes a guy from the Austin Powers movies is cool. Had this been 1999...sure. Now its a decade later....

It was the whole Trump vs. Vince Wrestlemania. UFC had a show on a week after. Without Trump, WWE would have been scorched.

Where in that sentance says personal blogposts wishing friends well and proclaiming fandom of a sport are "working with any form of MMA"? Has JR Booked MMA shows? Commentate for shows? Sold tickets at the window and swept up afterwards? Does he own a promotion or have worked or is working as an official of a MMA promotion?

It shocked me Trump is considered a ratings draw to be honest. He did shave Vince's head. That was funny.

Is this the same company that aired a commercial for Lesnar when he 1st had his big UFC match , annouced over the air on RAW when he won the UFC Title ?

I don't doubt they don't look at UFC. Because hell , years back before they got Joey Styles they tried to sign the annoucer away from UFC. I just don't think Vince is that pissed about it. If they were , lets be honest ..there would be a tighter grip on what Jim Ross and others say about it.

This is a company that deleted Tommy Dreamer's blog for putting a fact out he has the highest ECW quarter ratings. This is a company that fired Matt Hardy when he complained vocally about Lita screwing Edge.

Vince is a man of action ...and 9 times outta 10 its dumb action when he reacts. I can see him threatening Jim Ross "Don't mention Lesnar...again. Your a WWE employee , we don't mention the compitition."

Or telling WWE.Com and Joey Styles...don't post anything about Lesnar's winning of the UFC Title or matches. Why promote it as Lesnar getting his big start in the WWE months ago ?

Also didn't the company just sign a MMA guy ? a week or 2 ago ?

You mean the same company that turned around and backhanded slamed Zuffa for putting on all the fights of that very card because they didn't go their "allotted times"?

EDIT: Because I forgot to mention that they called all the fighters on the prelims. "No names no one cared about".

I remember this and Vince's crazyness for saying it. To Vince he runs a staged show where he tries to fill a 2 hour and 45 minute PPV. He's always done that. He's never done real life boxing or MMA shows without controlling the outcome. Ok... he did do Sugar Ray Leonard's 1997 boxing return and its said he wanted Leonard to win since he promoted him heavy with commercials on RAW...and once he didn't.....no more boxing.

Ha ha ...missed when he called the fighters "prelims and fighters no one cares for..." That sounds so like Vince. Fuck them all....Brock ...the man I helped create owns your asses .
