Oh big time. This sounds promising. I want it now.
I love rags art.

I have to admit, at first it did nothing for me. But seeing Rags, an artist I always want to see more work from, pretty psyched about this - and the idea that it's "something beyond pulp" - has me intrigued.

I know it won't be...or likely can't be...but make it an ongoing!

I'm a big fan of Doc Savage, but I'm not too enthusiastic about this project. For one thing, Doc Savage looked much better on the covers to those '70s reprints:

For another, I liked DC's previous work with Doc Savage in the late '80s, especially the crossover with the Shadow.

^Better have your eyes checked if you think the picture on newsarama was done by Rags.

is First Wave one ongoing comic book title? or is this a series like Marvel Pulp or whatever that is?

Correct, that picture on 'Rama is by Brian Stelfreeze.
I'm glad to hear practically everything I've read on the boards sounds positive.
Rags was one of the best artists back at Valiant and I've liked his work ever since.
I agree with Shellhead, the Bama covers are pretty great of Doc.

I'm pretty excited about this and I'm glad DC is finding ways to use writers of Azzarello's caliber who may not want to do a lot of company owned work.

I've never been a big Doc Savage fan, but I'm going to pick this up anyway. This sounds like a really, really great idea.
Some questions come to mind:
1) Any idea which Earth this is going to be set upon? I'm assuming its not "New Earth" (Earth 0).
2) I wonder if any more pulp heroes besides The Shadow, The Avenger, and Doc Savage will show up. Bill Barnes Air Adventurer, perhaps?
3) And what about Doc Savage's support characters? This series had better have Monk et al.

This could be really great. Azzarello & Rags are a great team.
You know who'd I LOVE to see in this title??
Mr. Monster.

If DC could work a deal with Michael T. Gilbert to include him in this book it would be incredible

I'll definitely be checking this out. Love Doc Savage. The Avenger is pretty cool as well.
I wonder if we'll see the Shadow in this series. DC hasn't mentioned him just yet but he'd make a great surprise for the end of the first issue.
