So what is R.E.B.E.L.S., anyways?

I've seen a lot of hype and buzz around the new R.E.B.E.L.S. series. I'm certainly interested in something that seems to be getting so much praise, but I have absolutely no clue what this series is about.

Could someone help me out, and just give an overview of the title, and what it's all about?

And maybe a link to a preview of the first issue?

I'm sure someone will come in and mention all the stuff I've left out, but here goes:

Back in the day there was an awesome series called LEGION (I'm leaving out the periods because I'm lazy). It was about an intergalactic police force (the Licensed Extra-Governmental Interstellar Operatives Network, for those playing at home) who, ya know, policed. Then the series ended.

Cut to 2009 and the series is back. The founder of LEGION, Vril Dox, has been ousted from LEGION and is on the run. So, as he tries to regain control of LEGION, he's aided by....

REBELS!

The book is all kinds of cool.

The only thing I would mention in addition to Don C is simply the fact that when I picked up REBELS #1 I had never read anything Legion before. and loved it.

REBELS is a current dc comics ongoing title that is well written and well drawn.

Dox is such a bollox and we love and hate him for it.


Give the first few issues a try at least.

It's only six issues into the series so far so you won;'t have a difficult time catching up.

Exactly. Bedard has done a great job using "Encyclopedia Galactica" caption blocks to get folks like myself up to speed on the various locales and species you encounter along the way.
