And they've mated.....to create FOILOGRAM!

Marvel is pleased to unveil the special variant covers to Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1, Ultimate Comics Avengers #1 and Ultimate Comics Armor Wars #1 utilizing the brand-new Foilogram cover treatment! Part foil, part hologram, these reflective covers will jump at you from shelves! Watch as Spider-Man’s webbing catches the light! Examine the intricate technology of Tony Stark! And, yes, that’s Captain America’s shield shining back at you!
I can only presume another collapse of the industry is eminent.

I saw this today on Bleeding Cool and wondered if Marvel really think people are daft enough to be suckered into this again?

Marvel has never lost money by underestimating the intelligence of their fans.

Because lord knows they can't improve what's between the covers, might as well make the cover all shiny and whatnot, lol.

The only thing missing is the words 'collector's item' printed somewhere on the cover. That way your sure that it will go up in value.

I think that this thread should be merged with the foot long rat in the garden thread.

Didn't they launch Ultimate Comics a few years back?
I guess that they mean special events such as re-launches.

I love Marvel, DC and comics in general. It worries me this kind of situations. Can the industry really survive another market crash? Comics that once were sold by the millions today they barely achieve the 3 digits figures. They should look for new readers, not scare the old ones away. I was willing to give the ultimate line a chance but if my regular copy will be worth nothing because it´s a regular cover and I can´t afford the expensive one, then it makes me wonder if what is inside is worth 4 dollars. I think not.

At least they aren't using the word "technology." Yet.
And hey, maybe this will be the long-awaited final nail in the coffin of the Ultimate imprint.

It doesn't surprise me that the Nineties are returning. We have a recession, a Democrat for a President, New Kids on the Block were on tour briefly, 90210 is back on tv, and Melrose Place is returning. All need now is the return of grunge music.

If you hit it frequently and hard enough with a mallet, it will cease to be irritating.
