Well, you'd have to start with the Lee/Kirby first appearance of Galactus in FF #48-50, which should be in FF Marvel Masterworks vol. 5, or in one of the Essentials.

Well, there are plenty to choose, but the most important are, his first appeareance in FF, known as The Galactus Trilogy, and the Trial of Galactus, those are some good stuff. For recent stories, you should check the first Annihilation mini, Galactus is a total bad @ss on that one, and the current Beta Ray Bill mini. He's almost in every cosmic comic, there are many out there.

Peace.

Historically Galactus is a force of nature in all universe versions. He simply consumes planets to survive. Although he has been written by everybody the last 40 years he is still the same character that first appeared in FF 49.

From recent years Annihilation would be the best thing. There aren`t that many good stories with him due to him being nor hero nor villain and often he and his heralds are written badly.

Dunno about Godhunter. Whole premise seems stupid to me.

Spoilers below.

I get that BRB is supa omg strong. I can see him being equal to Stardust(as shown in original mini) but taking out Surfer? Galactus notices his interfecene and sends Surfer after him. Isn`t only purpose of Heralds to search for planets and help him in fcked up situations(like Annihilation)? If BRB posed any threat he would be already dead when he destroyed firt planet.

Fantastic Four #'s 242-262 during Byrne's run in the 80's is still the best Galactus "story." He appears sporadically throughout those 20 issues, but it's essential reading if you're a fan of the characters. The main reason is that Byrne reestablished Galactus as the force of nature that's "above good and evil" like Lee and Kirby originally stated. The easiest way to get those issues is go pick up the Byrne Visionaries trades--but only if you're not into digital comics. Of course the Lee/Kirby issues are a must.

I'd also recommend the Silver Surfer series from the late 80's and early 90's. The first 50 issues (written by Englehart and then Starlin) of that run is gold and Galactus appears frequently, particularly during the first 20 issues or so.

Stick to the stuff you know
If you wanna be cool
Follow one simple rule
Don't mess with the flow, no no
Stick to the status quo

Oh, yes...I need to put in a plug for the original Earth X series. The story culminates in a GREAT Galactus fight.

Is Galactus the same in Earth X or changed?

Is Galactus the same in Earth X or changed?Changed. But revealing exactly how would spoil one of the better plot twists of the series.

I'd second that you pick up Annihilation. Not only is the story in itself great stuff but Galactus gets lots of cool moments in it.

Also the three issues of Nova with Galactus are a good read and a little bit of a different Galactus story.

Unfortunately besides the cosmic writers people tend to write Galactus stupidly. *coughgregpakcough*
