View Full Version : Who should be the "Kingpin" of crime in the marvel universe?

you can answer in general or for powered and non-powered crime separately. do you think Parker Robbins is doing ok? do you want Fisk back? should someone other bad guy step up? i'm not including a poll because some whiny individual will call it faulty.
personal picks:
Wilson Fisk should take back his Kingdom w/ Echo as his right hand/eventual successor. he should also add Zack Overkill, Underworld, and maybe the new Enforcer to his list of go-to enforcers. i think Kingpin needs some more high profile muscle, this time around.
as for someone organizing the superhuman set, my vote goes to any of the following...
Zodiac (encouraging the crazier of the super-villains to start taking a personal stake in the lives of their archenemies/generally making supervillainy a little more hardcore)

Void (somehow separated from the Sentry & w/ his power reduced so he's no longer world eater level but still scary enough to make most villains pee themselves - i think it'd be cool to have his speech patterns be old school prohibition era gangster)
http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/1/13340/298995-199928-void.jpg
or
Tristam Silver (finally stepping out of the shadows & establishing a clear pecking order much like Fisk did for the NY mobs)

I don't think Hood and Kingpin necessarily overlap.
Fisk is kind of the Kingpin of crime in a more general sense, while Hood is organizing the low end supervillain community.
There's overlap there... but not to the point where marvel can't have them both do their own thing.
I definately think Fisk should be and will be the kingpin of crime again, since that I think is his title.

the hood makes a good hero for a horror team with say voodoo or strange not a kingpin. i say namor. just always saw it. he lost his empire, why not make a new one. doctor ock would be awesome too.

i wasn't meaning to imply that there was overlap. i'm just asking if you want Fisk back into his old position. and, as a follow up question, who do you think should be in charge of the superhuman set?

Well, the truth is I don't think anyone can be in charge of the villain community long term.
Villain coalitions just can't work. If they could, villains probably would actually win.
Hood will be able to keep his coalition together for a short period of time, but that will be an anomoly. I'm sure someone else will try it in the future... Masters of Evil version 10 or whatever, but that won't last either.

i'm not really talking about a coalition. i'm talking about the supervillians kicking up to one person; occassionally getting back up or protection from this individual.

Wilson Fisk is so played out he just needs to go away for a good long time. I am talking 5 or 10 years. I mean really how many "Fall of the Kingpin" type stories have we had in the alst 10 years anyway. Plus it isn't like the old days when he was more of a shadow figure the authorites couldn't touch. He is in and out of jail now. He is just a tired played out character who needs a long hiatus, and then when he is brought back it would actully mean something instead of just another "Kingpin" story.

Who should be the new Kingpin, you ask? I'm voting 100% for Roderick Kingsley, the original Hobgoblin. Who else could be as cold, calculating, and merciless as him? It's time he made a comeback and the timing couldn't be better.

I totally agree- Kingsley is the smartest villian in all or Marvel for just geting the powers, the money, framing some sap and then walking away clean while on top.
Ally him with Justin Hammer's organization that outfits tech-based villains (and keeps them under tight controls via that technology) and you could have a cadre of new characters with mostly tech powers under one man.
Hobgoblin was such a success because he was teamed up with the rose's gang- he needs a partner to handle logistics.
The problem with the Hood's gang is that it's like tryng to herd cats- too many stubborn, powerful and undisiplined bozos to have a coordianted fighting force.
To teamwork there: you need a real team of professionals working together.
Osborn does not have that, nor the Hood, Kingpin or anyone else.

Bring back Don Fortunato.Besides,he was the strongest crime boss after the Kingpin's fall(i mean the first one during the early 90s).I think he would be a good choice for a DD foe.

I would prefer him as the "Kingpin of Supervillains" rather than a kingpin of organised crime.

But supervillains don't need a kingpin. People don't expect Kang, Magneto, Ultron, Doom and the Mandarin to group together and choose a leader. Their minds are too independent and their egos are too big to form any unity.
Nefaria is a head of an international crime organization. That by itself give him a big credence.

When i talk about a Kingpin of Supervillains,i was talking about organising b or c-list villains into a group inder the leadership of one mastermind.Something that Hood tried to do,but i always thought that Nefaria was better for Hood's role.I mean,he had Maggia connections and he has superpowers.A fitting candicate to be a leader of a supervillain mob.

If they weren't hell bent on making Elektra an anti-hero should would be great as the next Kingpin with all of her ties to various criminal organizations.

he's a possibility i hadn't considered. i don't know enough about him to say it's "his style" or not.

Yeah but they already did that when she took over the Hand. I thought it would have been interesting to see her in a position in power. Then they said she was a Skrull. Lame.

I always loved the mob war stories in Amazing Spider-Man, so my vote goes to Mr. Negative.
Let's see what the new guy can do.

As much as i love Hobgoblin,i wouldn't like to see him back soon because:1)With Norman in charge of HAMMER and Dark Avengers,he's way too powerfull for Kingsley.Returning to USA with the current status quo would be suicide for Roderick.
2)I love that Kingsley is one of the few villains that enjoy his freedom, with enough money to have a great life. That makes him even more badass.

I agree Fisk had a hand in everything from the drug sales on the street to running protection rackets against the capes.
Hood seems to be dealing only with the super bad guy types.

That might be the opportunity needed for her to take on the role. The Skrull could be used as an excuse for anything that she had done before and the real Elektra could be used in any possible manner, such as an attempt to take over the criminal organization of NY.
