in one corner, you have the gnarly Mister X; the human embodiment of every Van Damme action flick and Street Fighter arcade game ever put out in the 90s.

in the other corner, the awesomely radical Adam X aka X-treme!
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/87/Xforce30.jpg
in yet another corner, you have a light-armored skateboarding kendo stick-wielding black guy. and 10 bucks he has a funny-looking flat top underneath that helmet. i give you...the Night Thrasher!

so who, in your opinion, best captures the essense of the 90s? note, i didn't include all of the major offenders. Cable was originally in the poll. but i reasoned that he had evolved a little over the years; shedding his 90s-ishness. he definately has less pockets, no shoulder pads, and smaller guns. the 3 who made the poll have resisted the evolutionary process.

X-Treme is so '90s he has an extra code-name just to fit in more x's.
By the way, Mister X debuted in 2001.

Yeah the poll is faulty.
Mister is from 2001 (but i guess he can fit if you squeeze it) and Adam they both have about a dozen issues each under their belt versus NT who has about 200.
And people should really go look up some of Adam-X's stories because his characterization is totally a 180 from his looks. One X-men issue he was in where he saves Cyclops' gramps has his ending basically every sentence he answers with the word "sir." And he grows to respect the dude as the story develops.
This dude would be a totally different character if his name just stayed as Adam X. The addition of X-treme just killed it.

when they debuted doesn't make any difference if they look like the 90s threw them up. it's not like Frank Tieri was born in 2001.

Yeah the poll is faulty.
your face is faulty

then the Bandit version is the "night thrasher" i'm talking about. problem solved.
And people should really go look up some of Adam-X's stories
especially if they are having trouble getting to sleep.
because his characterization is totally a 180 from his looks.
yeah, well he couldn't possibly act as lame as he looks. :)
One X-men issue he was in where he saves Cyclops' gramps has his ending basically every sentence he answers with the word "sir." And he grows to respect the dude as the story develops.
yeah, but he still visits a dying old man wearing a backwards baseball cap. what a tool.
This dude would be a totally different character if his name just stayed as Adam X. The addition of X-treme just killed it.
it is what it is. i haven't even mentioned his archenemy being an african american fish.

well, technically, that's a win. he was supposed to be Shatterstar in a backwards baseball cap. he was created to one-up Shatterstar. i kid you not.

half of those you listed no longer exist or appear. and some have been updated. it's the same reason i didn't include Cable. the folks in the poll are still sporting their 90s look; except Adam X who has become even grungier. i will give you credit for Superpro. he is decidedly tacky and i think he's only absent for legal reasons.

Mister X is from the 2000s and Night Thrasher actually had a lot of substance to him despite looking ridiculous so X-Treme “wins” by default.
Adam X was so stuck in the 90s that they had to create a new even worse character to replace him as the third Summers brother because actually bringing this guy back was unthinkable.

i do hate him for that last part. Gambit being the 3rd brother is looking better and better every day.

OK so basically this is a " Let's make fun of Adam-X " thread?
Why did you start with that instead?

cable and deadpool(not the teamup. the characters) are so 90's. and x-force all together.
marvel trying to keep up with surge of over violent gritty comics like the maxx, and everything else on image at the time(and still!)

I don't need your pity. SuperPro was awesomely bad, as were all on my list.
I just refuse to acknowledge those mutant freakers

Who was supposed to one-up Longshot, who is, the sole non-mutant member of the racist team known as the X-Men/X-Force/ Generation X/ X-Shamwow/ New X-Men/ X-factor, etc. ad nauseum.
My vote is for Rictor- grunge posterchild with the cliche anger-issues and a shirt tied around his waist backwards while wearing cargo pants and the occasional Pearl jam t-shirt.
Runner-up is Jubilee, who seems to have escaped from Mallrats.

I extreme vote for Rob Liefeld to the max!

I vote for Rob Liefeld to take mandatory drawing lessons at the Kubert School.
He once drew Wolverine's claws as both taller than his wrists and much longer than his forearms.

Rictor was sporting a mohawk and leather studded vest in the 80's long before he changed his style with the times.
And Jubilee pre-dates Mallrats by at least 6 years, and I don't remember anyone from that movie with a giant bright yellow coat and huge earrings with their name on it.
And I'll take the original comics featuring any of the poll characters we're supposed to be making fun of, over certain comics Marvel is publishing in 2009. Any day.
