We are frequantly discuss favorite characters, teams, what ifs, dream teams, etc. After the 25 favorite X-Men thread seem to have a fairly positive response I thought it might be fun to have a thread dedicated to people posting their my micro heroes. Either their original creations, team shots, favorites, etc.

I don't know how to create them but I can sometimes edit basic ones. Most Micro Heroes can be found here...

Gen Next was all about the students. That panel of Husk, best moment of AoA.
They did all the work. Colossus and Kitty came crashing in, took Magik, and left them behind.

Here is a simple Dark X-Men design I did a week ago or so, still working on a female version. Feel free to experiment with the headless template, make it your own X design!! Astonishing lives at the X-Mansion and are teachers who teach the new generation of mutants. They are publicly known as mutant teachers but also are heroes who protect the east side. Scott and Jean are leaders and headmaster and headmistress.

Uncanny lives at Graymalkin with Storm as Leader. They protect the west side and are publicly known as supeheroes and treated with equal respect to the FF and Avengers.

X-Force is Wolverine's secret black-ops team that is all over the world trying to stop the rise of Apocalypse. No one knows about this team. Psylocke psi-shields their existence from everyone else.

X-Men Legacy is a team run by Magneto and Professor X. They have created an underwater Utopia with Namor that is open to all mutants and Atlanteans. This team helps run Utopia and protect it from enemies. They are publicly known as the leaders of Utopia.

I posted all those teams and forgot about X-men Unlimited :)

It would be a book written by Mike Carey and drawn by a rotating team of some of Marvel's best artists. The series would have an animated series vibe to it and it would feature team-ups between the various X-characters and teams, pretty much anyone could appear in this book.
It would be nice to see Carey go crazy and write the characters he wants to write without having to worry too much about continuity.

I wasn't very happy with my Legacy line-up, so I made a few changes:

Press "Print Screen" (it might be PrtSc) on your keyboard instead with the Micros you want appearing on page. Then paste that into Paint. You'll get a copy of a 'picture' of your screen when you pressed "Print Screen".

Ya I edited a Kitty one to give her an her astronaut costume. I also removed Dazzler's sleeves, gave Iceman pants and gave everyone an X-badge.

I love her astronaut suit! There wasn't a full explanation given, but it's probably reasonable to assume that the X-club designed her suit out of the same tech her tank was made out of. She's not unphased, but her suit keeps her contained. I don't know if she can phase through things in her suit though.

My ideal paired-down X-Men team to kick in around Uncanny #550.


For context, the X-Men are still operating out of Utopia and Jean has returned from the dead, yet only a handful of people in the world are aware of it.

CYCLOPS - More hands-on squad leader and less of a general. Completely unaware that Jean has returned from the White Hot Room and is recovering at the newly re-opened mansion back in Westchester with Professor X and a small team of X-Men.

EMMA FROST - Well aware of both Jean's return, and Cyclops' ignorance of it, and intent on keeping it that way. Good ol' morally ambiguous Emma is back, and the mom jeans are off. Also, no more diamond-form due to prolonged exposure to Hope or something.

WOLVERINE - Wolverine is just being Wolverine. I honestly can't think of anything interesting left to do with him. He's on this team for marketing purposes and to perpetuate the finalization of Storm & T'Challa's divorce.

STORM - Tired of being a Queen, she's gone back to her edgier mohawk persona as seen recently in Astonishing. Further exploration of close platonic Scully/Mulder friendship with Wolverine. Wolverine acts as the meta-voice of readers and relentlessly calls her on her B.S. sham marriage to T'Challa. I wouldn't totally regress her back to "punk Storm" - I'd keep most of her authoritarian earth-mother wisdom, but let her cut loose a bit. She'd be an imperfect Michelle Obama after a few drinks on a girls night out and without the cameras on her.

ICEMAN - The new POV character for the audience. Comics are now read by or at least written for readers in their 20s-30s. He's the irresponsible goofball who is having to find his legs and get his sh*t together as an adult, and is having some issues with it. Tension with having one-time raging homicidal Mrs. Robinson figure, Mystique, on the team.

MYSTIQUE - I'm so tired of the "You got my loved one killed, now I must exact my revenge and DESTROY YOU!!!" cliche. So rather than seeking revenge on Cyclops et al for her son Nightcrawler's death, she's going to see the dream was something he really did believe in. She'd give being an X-Man a genuine sincere shot. But she's a bad b*tch at her core and old habits die real hard. Awkward moments with Wolverine and Iceman. Cyclops is still miffed she impersonated Jean back in Dark X-Men.

ROGUE - She's had it with teaching those New X-Men kids and wants back in on the action. She takes Cyclops' assessment that she is not yet leadership material as an opportunity to re-embrace her youthful adrenaline junky that we all miss so much. Tension with having Mystique on the team, and Mystique can't help but take jabs at her foster-daughter for having failed as a leader.

GAMBIT - Purged of the Death persona and fart gas powers, as much as we all loved that... Giving things another shot with Rogue, but things are kept light and fun. Neither of them will be shouting one another's name and declaring their love/angst in "Scott!!" "JEAN!!!!!" "Jg!" fashion. Secretly taking advantage of being a thief and living in a new city. He mysteriously disappears at night a lot.

COLOSSUS - Taking a break from Kitty who is still recovering and living in a fish bowl. As much as he hates to admit it to himself, he moved on somewhat while she was stuck in that bullet for what was assumed to be eternity. He had those Russian hookers. Maybe it's a little too "meta", but he is literally scared of he and Kitty becoming the next Scott & Jean, just together out of habit/obligation.

Hey thanks!! I was actually going back and forth on whether to include Kitty but I wanted to limit the team to 9. Sort of get the X-Men back to a streamlined strike force rather than General Cyclops and 198 Talking Heads. To do that, I had to leave off some of my other faves too. Just tried to keep it realistic from a storytelling and marketing standpoint, and not just a dozen mish-mashed personal favorite characters tossed together. I'd keep Kitty in her fish tank a while longer and let Colossus finish teaching those Russian prostitutes English.

Down three members, Wolverine and Archangel recruit Chamber, a descendant of Apocalypse. With his mind embedded with Clan Akabba secrets and vast power restored to him by Apocalypse's blood, he is both a valuable asset and an extreme liability.

To keep him in line, Emma Frost invites herself to the group to telepathically monitor her former student's mental activities. She brings along Havok, but he is killed by one of the Final Horseman and she must mask his cause of death to keep it a secret from Scott.

Finally, Mystique kidnaps Blindfold and stumbles upon the group via the young mutant's visions.

My new teams and what I'd do with the franchise:

The first thing I'd do is create a new team book. I think there should be at least two core X-men teams and right now we have none. I'd also make UXM a team book again, cancel Astonishing in favor of the new book and I'd merge Legacy with Generation Hope.
Another thing I'd do is make every team different, I'm tired of having basically the same characters in every one of them.
X-men vol.3 would become X-men Unlimited, a book where there'd be mostly self-contained stories by well-known creators featuring a rotating cast of characters.
Virtually anyone could appear in the book. I also think it'd be fun to get some classic X-men artists to draw issues of the book. Imagine a New Mutants issue drawn by Arthur Adams or an Outback reunion issue by Marc Silvestri... xD

I'd totally bring this book back. The X-line is missing a more light-hearted book and Excalibur is perfect for the role. The book would feature Excalibur as cross-dimension adventurers with appearances by the MI13.

The book would also introduce a new Freedom Force lead by Mystique (Sabretooth, the Wyngarde sisters and Frenzy would also be members).

Destiny is back, but something is bothering her. She's having visions of a terrible future, one where the Shadow King has finally accomplished his goal of ruling the world. In order to stop this future from ever happening, she assembles a team of young mutants to help her prevent her visions from becoming reality. But why did she pick them? And how are their fates connected to the catastrophe that's to come?

They are certainly lower on the list. And this might be updated since the time I created. Northstar is fairly well known, especially for being one of the first gay characters, but he has been on the X-Men for lengthy period of time. As has Marrow. Marrow was fairly major until the Claremont Revolution of X-Men. But I'd actually say both are more important than even Longshot.

Also keep in mind that I'm only counting people who were on the main X-Men team.

Northstar is pretty influential he's the first gay X-men (not counting Iceman because he's not out yet).

Yeah, I thought he'd be a great fit for the book. Since Opena isn't fast enough to draw a monthly by himself, I think it would be cool if they rotated between arcs. Like Coipel and Mann on Uncanny and Dodson and Siqueira on Legacy.
With X-factor since there'd be two casts, the two artists would work in different segments in the same issue (Raimondi would draw the New York scenes and DeLandro San Fran scenes).

Exactly! I really like the idea of artists with complementary styles rotating on books so the change is not so jarring to the reader.

Quicksilver and Polaris hire X-Factor to help find answers about the Scarlet Witch after a string of miracles (including repowering Rictor, Marrow, and the Blob) fall upon their lap. Meanwhile, Magneto kills Layla, realizing she is doing her best to prevent X-Factor from reversing M-Day.

Down three members, Wolverine and Archangel recruit Chamber, a descendant of Apocalypse. With his mind embedded with Clan Akabba secrets and vast power restored to him by Apocalypse's blood, he is both a valuable asset and an extreme liability.

To keep him in line, Emma Frost invites herself to the group to telepathically monitor her former student's mental activities. She brings along Havok, but he is killed by one of the Final Horseman and she must mask his cause of death to keep it a secret from Scott.

Finally, Mystique kidnaps Blindfold and stumbles upon the group via the young mutant's visions.

Great concept/plot points... :cool:

With the reappearance of new mutants, Xavier decides to reopen the school to train this new generation. The book would be based on the original New Mutants series, hopefully it would be as successful xD

The second year of the new direction would culminate in a major arc that would shake things up a bit.
Magneto would finally be arrested for his crimes against humanity, leaving Xavier emotinally devastated and Hope more rebellious than ever.
Against Xavier's orders, the Lights go on a mission to rescue Magneto, but things go horribly wrong. Laurie is killed and they decide to abort mission.
With Charles no longer in emotional condition to to run the school, Cable decides to become the kid's new mentor.
Not entirely confident about the new situation, Charles would send Moonstar to keep an eye on Cable and the kids.

Cypher: the team needs a tech guy and Doug certainly fits the bill, he also has past with Psylocke so that could lead to interesting dynamics.
Eden Fesi: Gateway's protegé, member of Nick Fury's Secret Warriors.
Mystique: the team's new wildcard. Only avoided death at the hands of Archangel because of her usefulness to the team.
*The team would be based in the Australian Outback.
