Dirty Deeds!

"Dirty Deeds" is a series of threads where a discussion can be held about the morally questionable, or outright evil acts of characters in comics. It might be a discussion about times a hero crossed a moral line they shouldn't have, or a discussion of a villain's most horrific acts in their history, but the premise remains the same.

Where possible, a poll will be included to vote upon said character's "dirtiest deed".

Please do remember that there are no wrong answers, this is all a matter of opinion. Since everyone has a different set of morals, please try and respect differences in people's own beliefs.

Dirty Deeds has just hit its sixty-eighth edition, and we’re about to look at a gal who’s always had daddy issues, and some guy or another trying to get into her life. It’s time to look at the lovely gal with tresses of green and a Lensherr pedigree they call…

Lorna Dane…

So what is Polaris’ "Dirtiest Deed"?

- In spite of her friendship with the X-Men, allying herself with a robotic duplicate of Magneto that claimed he was her father? (Uncanny X-Men #50)

- Telling Banshee to kill Pretty Boy, and not to show him any mercy? (Uncanny X-Men #255)

- Helping defend the country of Trans-Sabal from the Hulk, on behalf of the tyrant ruling it, Farnoq, after being sent by the government with X-Factor? (Incredible Hulk (vol. 2) #390-392, X-Factor (vol. 1) #76)

- Despite orders to bring members of X-Force in for questioning, letting Cannonball escape? (X-Factor (vol. 1) #77)

- Encouraging Sasquatch to run around Washington D.C. naked? (Alpha Flight (vol. 1) #107)

- While dating Havok, flashing Doc Samson, her therapist, while only wearing red and gold lingerie? (X-Factor (vol. 1) #87)

- Participating in a riot with Havok? (X-Factor (vol. 1) #94)

- Against the direct orders of X-Factor’s team liaison, Forge, making a political statement to the media upon her release from prison? (X-Factor (vol. 1) #94)

- Refusing to follow Havok’s order to arrest the cult leader, Haven, and actually using her powers on him to prevent him from doing so? (X-Factor (vol. 1) #98)

- Using her government contacts to track Havok to Hawaii, where he was on sabbatical? (X-Factor (vol. 1) #103)

- Manipulating the flow of iron in Havok’s blood, forcing him to pass out? (X-Factor (vol. 1) #114)

- Faking her own death with the rest of X-Factor to escape the employ of the government? (X-Factor (vol. 1) #133)

- Attacking government troops to prevent them from arresting Havok, for all the crimes he committed while leading the Brotherhood? (X-Factor (vol. 1) #148)

- Against Havok’s wishes after he supposedly died, disbanding X-Factor? (X-Factor (vol. 1) #149)

- Impersonating Magneto in front of all the Genoshan people, deceiving them? (Uncanny X-Men #380)

- Joining Magneto in exchange for help in advancing her own powers, aiding his assault against Carrion Cove and the Avengers, and then trying to prevent him from gaining his powers back, in his own right, rather than leaving him dependent on her? (Magneto: Dark Seduction #1-4)

- Stealing a blood sample from Genosha to confirm that Magneto really was her father, once and for all? (Uncanny X-Men #430-431)

- Torturing Nurse Annie with a bunch of magnetically-controlled surgical scalpels and reversing the blood flow to her body? (Uncanny X-Men #418-419)

- Lying to Northstar about Nurse Annie, claiming she was assaulting a comatose Havok before using her magnetic powers to throw Northstar through the roof of the X-Mansion’s infirmary? (Uncanny X-Men #419)

- Using her powers to slaughter an entire platoon of members of the Church of Humanity? (Uncanny X-Men #424)

- Sleeping with the shape-shifting male stripper at her bachelorette party, having him morph into the form of Gambit? (Uncanny X-Men #425)

- After being jilted at the altar by Havok, going on a rampage with her powers, attacking Havok, and anyone who got in her way in front of the assembled guests? (Uncanny X-Men #426)

- Killing a mutant with explosive bone marrow by crushing him underneath a wall with her powers? (revealed in X-Men (vol. 2) #166)

- Trying to deceive the rest of her X-Men teammates after the Decimation, and convince them that she had not lost her X-gene? (X-Men (vol. 2) #177-179)

- Joining Apocalypse as his new Horseman, Pestilence? (revealed in X-Men (vol. 2) #182-185)

- Stealing various samples of deadly diseases from government facilities to co-opt into her body as Pestilence? (X-Men (vol. 2) #182-185)

- Helping Professor Xavier steal a Shi’ar spaceship? (Uncanny X-Men #476)

- Hijacking a Shi’ar food transport ship, and demanding they join their rebellion against Vulcan? (X-Men: Emperor Vulcan #1)

She’s been a member of X-Factor, the X-Men, a member of the Gensohan Cabinet, a Horseman of Apocalypse, and even an unwilling Marauder! And were it not for a lot of mind control, her list would’ve been way longer! Now vote for what you think was the worst of Polaris’ “Dirty Deeds”!

Agreed!

Lorna has done no wrong! She's too nice and meek to do anything wrong. Most of the bad things she's done were because she was either possessed or influenced by:
- Magneto (or Magneto robot)
- Malice (multiple times!!)
- Shadow King
EDIT: And Apocalypse!
- or she lost her mind.... poor girl never gets a break :frown:

Actually, I left off all the stuff from Malice and the Shadow King, already.

The Magneto robot, and Magneto, never possessed her, they just manipulated her, but she had her own free will.

But the real answer, to her nervous breakdown, and get out of guilt free card would be, "Chuck Austen".

Man, I haven't read X-Men titles regularly since the mid-90's, but what they've done with some of the characters is just pathetic. Lorna may never have been the best hero, but she wasn't a raving bitch either. F*cking Dark Age.

- Joining Apocalypse as his new Horseman, Pestilence? (revealed in X-Men (vol. 2) #182-185)
That didn't seem too willing at the time.

- Stealing various samples of deadly diseases from government facilities to co-opt into her body as Pestilence? (X-Men (vol. 2) #182-185)
If only she'd gotten to use them.

Dirtiest Deed:
Using her powers to slaughter a whole platoon of the Church of Humanity?
The X-Men sure have killled a lot of people.
Having sex with a shape-shifting male stripper impersonating Gambit at her bachalorette party?
Shameful behavior.

I'm sorry...don't know what came over me there :)

Reading the list of options has made me realize that this isn't a list of dirty deeds. This is the typical reaction of a woman scorned. And sometimes those not scorned. But I picked her attacking Nurse Annie. It wasn't her fault that Havok wanted sex on a regular basis.

It's one thing to get teabagged by a dude in a g-string, but telling everyone you're marrying someone for genetic potential, before taking your rent-a-dong off for fun is kinda shady.

Still got nothing on a lot of the other stuff.

She was captured, then kinda blackmailed into joining, in exchange for getting some kind of powers back at the time. She was depowered, going into that scenario.

Then it is sort of understandable that I did not remember if it was willingly or not.. because it was both!

Well yes:wink: Though they were sure to check they both knew the safe word first:biggrin:

And I think it has to be joining Apocalypse. She may not have known entirely what she was getting into but she still willingly signed up with the man who regularly attempts to kill millions of people so his insane warped "Survival of the fittest" dogma can become the way of the world

It IS interesting to have it all out in the open that Lorna has always actually been in character. She's always been crazy and insecure.

Shady, yes, but compared to torture with scalpals and mass murder? Inconsequential.

I'm sorry, I think you are missing the ESSENCE of that one.

It's hard to see the ESSENCE when it's so BESMIRCHED by the horror of Nurse Annie. However, given that poor Northstar was part of the event, I do have some sympathy.
