Didn't see a thread...
Loved the art, Polaris and the Witch have some great moments, great interactions, great dialogue. Panther got put in his place. Not all is as it first seems with these robots. And the ending made my eyes bulge. I hope "she" is okay...
Polaris chopped, dissected, rib cage exposed, head off, tubes attached?? WHA?? Noooooooo she rocked this issue!!
I need the next issue NOW!
9/10
I was surprised to not see a thread for this issue already. This is probably the best issue so far IMO. I'm afraid the sales for this new volume are bad. But I don't blame the readers for being turned off from Exiles thanks to CC's shitty New Exiles.
The last page was HORRIBLE! I hope everything turns out okay next issue!

WHAT?! thats just crazy man. Hopefully she doesn't become the first casualty of this new exiles team. More people need to read this book for sure. Its been just as good as the classic issues.
What if she becomes a cyborg after this?

What if she becomes a cyborg after this?:confused:I just read an interview with Jeff who thinks death is a pretty dead concept to him(excuse the pun), so i don't think she's going to be totally dead.
I flipped through it at the comic shop. I was a bit sad. I've been wishy washy with the series lately. I picked up the first issue then decided to drop it. A friend let me borrow the second issue and the story was interesting so I picked up the third issue (not to mention my friend dropped it after #2 so I had to buy it if I wanted to find out the ending). Now I'm dropping it again lol.
I'm streamlining my comics and right now Exiles isn't a must read for me. Too many one-shots/minis coming out right now. I thought I was cool dropping T-Bolts, Cable, and Exiles but I think I'm right back where I started but with different titles!

Well I wasn't hoping for her to die but I hope we do eventually have new members coming in some how. It would be different and refreshing if we had two exiles team going on at the same time and see how they would react to one another since thery are fairly new at this. Or an anti-exiles team that blunders the mutliverse like pirates/mercenaries.
She's on future covers so I'm assuming she survives.

I was AGHAST at the final page, wondering how Polly would get out of that situation but then I went OH NO! because this was Exiles and so maybe she doesn't.
This is pretty much the best the Exiles have been since their AoA crossover in like, #60 of the original issues.

Yeah I know there doesn't need to be deaths for characters to come in and out. At least half of the members from previous incarnations left for new worlds they that became their homes. What I liked about the Exiles to begin with was the sence of danger, which that last page provides but I want to see sojme heroic sacrifices and tragic deaths too. I just hope the cats changes a bit after the first year.

I've had to drop this one. It's not bad, it's just that I can't afford to buy as many books as Marvel drive the prices up. I put it off for a while, but this one just isn't shining.
I realised it was the second series by Parker I've dropped this month. Agents of Atlas has gone for a similar reason. Not bad, just not brilliant.

Nice! It looks like her heart is being preserved in that tube. Maybe Polaris will be the next No-Girl, heart instead of brain.

I was telling my friend who works at my LCS, the same thing. And I thought, well, Lorna's origin story involved her finding out she had a daddy, and it was Magneto, sort of. It was a robot duplicate made my Machinesmith.
Maybe on her Earth, she also was replaced with a robot by Machinesmith? Or maybe, she's been replaced by one just now, here, by Jocasta?
Or maybe the artist here was asked to tone down the gore, in a big way, and make her dissection look sanitized. Tough call. I could go either way, at this point.
Good issue. Looking forward to when the Exiles all give Blink hell for vanishing at such a critical moment.

Doubt Lorna is dead, i figure they are just going to remake her into a robot. That's still a brilliant picture though.

could it also be possible this is not the exiles' lorna, but the lorna of this reality?

Jocasta is the Ice Truck killer. The only robots that have hearts are the brand new terminators. Lorna has been around too long to be one of those.

Three points about the Polaris reveal:
1) She's clearly not dead, given the tubes going into her head, including from the heart-in-a-jar. Now, that certainly doesn't mean she's in a good place, but still...
2) If this was a robot-double Jocasta was constructing... why WOULD there be tubes going into her head or a heart in a jar?
3) The tranquilliser dart worked on her earlier in the issue. If she was 100% robot, it wouldn't have done so.
What this all adds up to... not sure. The only possibilities seem to involve her being a cyborg though - first, she may have been a cyborg all along. Second, all the newbies may have been turned into cyborgs as part of saving them from their "deaths" (no, I don't think this is the case, but it's still worth mentioning as a possibility). Third, Jocasta could be turning her into a cyborg now.
Perhaps more important though... the reveal that Blink doesn't know who they're working for, and has precious little detail in general. Odds that they're ACTUALLY being sent "to make things wrong that once went right", anyone...?

Very good issue. Certainly looks like Ultron, Jocasta, Machine Man, and Vision are good guys.

What was with the panther and the exiles as a whole aside from polaris. Gosh they sucked especially panther. Gets one kick in then does nothing the whole book. Polaris is showing why she gets underused in the mu. She's too powerful to be just a lackey or team member but isn't well respected enough yet to be a leader or have her own solo.

I think she was a robot all along.
If you recall when Ultron, Vision, and Stack were watching the Exiles, he mentioned only four of them were mutants.
Having not read the first issue, I presumed it was Black Panther and maybe Forge, but now I'm guessing it would be Polaris.
I think its a pretty cool twist.

If you recall when Ultron, Vision, and Stack were watching the Exiles, he mentioned only four of them were mutants.
I thought they were saying that at their "Cleansing" they had destroyed the last 4 mutants in North America. And they wanted to know how these 6 had survived the Cleansing.

Actually, what Cerebro says is...
Cerebro: "There are still Homo-Superior at large. This does not correspond -- visual matching shows four mutants who were at ground zero during the clensing."
So four of the mutants who are there, were in America when everyone was wiped out.
That doesn't mean that there is only 4 mutants in the group.
My guess, Jocasta was just taking Polaris apart to figure out how to evolve their machine life into organic life forms. Or how to create a hybrid organism. Since Ultron, Vision, and Machine Man appear to possibly be disgusted by what Cerebro has become. Since there's no actual parts of Lorna that look robotic, everything metallic on her body seems to have been attached during the examination.

Yep. Pretty much that's how I took it. The machines attached are keeping her alive during the examination.

I love this book! Its just like the classic Exiles with a real sense of fun and adventure. Parkers script is funny to boot. Just read this issue today. Liked it. Really solid all around, as expected. I dig all the robots. Maybe L10 would have been handy on this mission! And that last page brings to mind a certain issue of Byrne's West Coast Avengers. So that was cool.

I noticed the estimated/relative sales for issue # 2 on The Beat (http://pwbeat.publishersweekly.com/blog/2009/07/07/marvel-month-to-month-sales-may-2009/) last night. This sells lower than I expected or hoped it would at least. But then, as you say, all comics seem to sell less lately.
Perhaps it will stabilize there, so we can enjoy it for a while yet. I expect to continue reading, and it would be nice to enjoy Parker's efforts on this (and Atlas) long into the future yet.

According to the prelim numbers for June sales did stabilize for the 3rd issue. It looks like it pulled about the same as the second issue.... possibly even a bit more, but we will have to wait for the final numbers to be sure.

Rest easy, guys. Lorna's not dead because a new exile didn't pop in to take her place. But it's good to see that this book has developed a following. The original series was alot of fun and didn't deserve to go the way of Claremont.
Long live Exiles!
