CBR viewed a documentary on Steve Ditko, then heard live recollections from associates of Ditko, and observed three scholarly presentations on the works of Ditko. All that and a slice of cake.

The only thing enlightening about this panels observations was that Ditko was tired of being unrecognized for his contribution. This is what I get from the fued between Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. When Steve was in full flight, he virtually put every piece of action on the page, and probably wrote it, but we will never know. It's too bad there wasn't anybody else from those times at Marvel 1960 - 1965, who was in the Marvel offices who could know.

I really wish he'd emerge from self-exile/retirement. The world needs more Steve Ditko.

Seriously. He's the J.D. Salinger of the comic book world.

Unfortunately, I actually bought all 10 issues of Speedball in thinking that a new Ditko creation would be the next big thing. That didn't happen, clearly. Now they're sitting in my cheap-comics box.

But hey, Penance came out of it.

...was going to comment on the Romita "Face it, tiger" panel that originally appeared in the article, but it's been fixed. (A caption could have explained it too, as legend holds that MJ was one of the subjects of disagreement with Stan Lee that led to Ditko's eventual departure.)

Anyway, the documentary's a good one; not really any new info for Ditko fans but well worth watching.
