Ok, I remember reading about this book or series of books, in which some concepts (such as Life, Death, Good, Evil etc) were real people. I know there were more concepts (7 I think...) and I don't know if those 4 listed ones were actually the concepts, although I know for sure death was one.
I know this is kind of vague, but any help would be awesome!

Incarnations of Immortality by Piers Anthony?
Or maybe that Piers Anthony series from the early 80s, Incarnations of Immortality, or something. There was 'On a Pale Horse' for Death, something or other for War, 'Green Mother' for Nature/Earth, etc, etc. I never did get around to finishing the series.
edit: I see a. non got there before me.

I've heard good things about it.
It might be worth a shot if you like Piers Anthony. I used to read a lot of his stuff back then so I tried a couple of them but didn't like it enough to carry on with it.

Borrowing from Wikipedia for the list to refresh my memory:
On a Pale Horse (1983) Death
Bearing an Hourglass (1984) Time
With a Tangled Skein (1985) Fate
Wielding a Red Sword (1986) War
Being a Green Mother (1987) Nature
For Love of Evil (1988) Evil
And Eternity (1990) Good
Under a Velvet Cloak (2007) Night
I believe I read the first three back in high school. Each book seemed to stand alone and I remember enjoying them, some more than others. I wasn't aware that Piers Anthony had returned to this series with the 8th and apparently final book.

There's an eighth book? Huh, interesting. I wonder if it's any good.
As far as the first seven go, if I'm remembering correctly, the first two are decent and then things descend into fantasy soap opera.
