Hello all,
I just bought the first trade of Air. It should be here this week sometime. Are there any Air fans out there? It seems interesting and the reviews on the net are good as well.
I'm always looking for something new and different in my comics books

I think it's the best Vertigo book out right now that isn't written by Brian Wood.

Haha not too sure what that means, Carabas
I think Carabas forgot the word "best" in there, somewhere.

I indeed did.
I need to start paying more attention when posting before 9 am. Or after 11 pm. Or anytime inbetween, really.

This was one of the worst comics I have ever read!! I stopped at issue 4. Did it get any better?

Actually enjoyed the trade, the story is a bit strange but once it gets going it's really pretty good. It's a welcome change from the usual superhero stuff but that's just me.
I also enjoyed Cairo quite a bit, so I knew what I was getting into.

If you didn't like it by then, then the book probably just isn't for you. Nothing to do with good or bad, just taste.
It did get a hell of a lot weirder though after #4.

oh I'm loving it.
It's unique and entertaining and I'm willing to see where it goes from here.
One of few books that I'm buying monthly to support the cause (in an effort to help the book not get cancelled before it finishes its story).

I LOVE Air. It's so fresh and so creative, G. Willow Wilson is JUST the kind of writer comic books need and M.K. Perker is talented as heck.

Yes, Air is very unique and a great read. I bought issues #6 thru 10 because the next trade won't be out until Nov. What is sad tho, the sales of Air are very low...less than 10,000 copies a month. :frown:

It's a Vertigo book, I thought those things always sold cruddily in floppies, but well in trades? I mean, I remember while I was looking for GA/BC sales I saw that one volume of Y: The Last Man sold like 14k the month it came out.

There is a threshold to how low the monthly sales can go compared to sales of the trades - Scalped, for instance, has been selling between 6,000 to 7,000 units monthly, but the trades are successful enough to keep it going (and at issue 30 with no signs of cancellation or ending soon, it has been one of Vertigo's more recent success stories.) Young Liars, on the other hand, is selling 5,000 to 6,000 units, but evidently not enough trade sales, so it'll be ending at issue 18, which is a shame.
Basically both singles and trades matter. Air seems to be doing fairly well so far, and I hope it (and every Vertigo series, really) continues to do well enough to come to its own conclusion!

I've enjoyed the last couple of issues of Air but I feel like Willow is just making up the story as she goes along . . .
