Katherine "Kitty" Pryde created by Chris Claremont & John Byrne in 1980. For quite some time she was known to be seen in combat in her standard training costume. But soon enough, Kitty came into her own! So the question is, which costume captures the quintessential feel of the Pryde?
Introducing, Kitty's Kloset! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2q5SYPbwFk)
[CENTER]Disco Fever (Uncanny X-Men #150)
Based off of her idol Dazzler's costume, Kitty thought it was time she became a full-fledged member and began sporting her own duds. Design Credit: Dave Cockrum

Upon the X-Men's second trip to help the Bird Brains, Kitty's white dress was torn by one of the Alien rip-offs. Which lead to this! Design Credit: Dave Cockrum

Back to Basics (Uncanny X-Men #178)

What A Punk (Uncanny X-Men #211)
During the Mutant Massacre showed alittle attitude with her fish-net and studs! This wasn’t enough to save her from a blast from Harpoon which left her (for a time) permanently intangible! Design Credit: Arthur Adams.

It was later altered by Alan Davis to make it more flattering.

Thus, "Back to Basics" won my vote.

The "Probable Fatality" issue that the image is referenced from always irritated me. On the cover, she's clearly wearing brown heeled boots, not white sockboots.

The color scheme was completely different on the cover. I personally prefer the blue/white though.

Perhaps she changed her outfit inbetween 177 and 178. Which is entirely possible, as her headband is now missing.
Anyway, this should have been her outfit:

There is a page in #178 that shows that it looks completely different other than the color scheme.

If memory serves, wasn't one of those issues pencilled by a guest artist (not JR JR or Paul Smith)?

I'd have to check on that, the art looks does look alittle different.

I just checked, 177 is inked by JR SR, not the usual Bob Wiacek.

Thanks for looking that up! I think I prefer Wiacek's inks.

Definitely the "punk" outfit (sans the fishnet and belts)....there's a reason why she wore this costume for a decade! But can we find a more complimentary pic of Kitty wearing it? That JRJR one is just awful.

I only did costumes from that era, of course I did leave out Kitty Pryde/Wolverine mini series, but I only had 10 poll options.

Actually, her blue costume was designed by Arthur Adams, not Romita Jr.

LOL, Kitty's costumes always sucked. But definetely the punk one IS the best, and i like how they revisited it in the "X-Men: True Fiends" Mini.
I always thought artists could never make Kitty's costume look good, but if i have to choose one, the Xtreme X-Men was a great one.
