I am not a comic book fan obviously, but a friend who doesn't use the computer has asked me to find out how much he can sell this for.
Here is the photo he sent me, and apparently he has 6 of the same version. It's probably junk, but I am suppose to check as usual...

LOL... thought so.
People always ask me to check how much their old crap is online thinking it's some kind of relic!

EDIT: He just texted me and said his #11 was worth $80? hmm .. but then.. I found an eBay auction with #1-208 for $300.. :o

I think the confusion is that there are various X-Men titles, and the actual names have changed.

The FIRST X-Men run started in 1963 and was titled "X-Men". The early issues of that series can be fairly pricy, and even some of the later ones (later being relative, referring to issues from the 70's and early 80's).
Towards the end of 1981, the title changed names to "Uncanny X-Men" but continued the number sequencing with #142.

A second book was started in 1991, with a brand new #1. This book was titled "X-Men" just like the original title of the first series. This series is basically worth squat, pricewise.

Because it was one of the largest print runs ever for Marvel there are huge amounts of copies around--hence it's wothless.I think you can probably buy a mint copy for about $1.00-$1.50.

There was also the start around that time of comic speculation--people buying multiple copies of the same comic predicting that they would increase hugely in value. But all it did was flood the market and make the comics worthless from a resale value.(But what was in them still had the X-men magic so dont let your friend get too down.Just tell him to read it--it's great!)
