View Full Version : gays love green lantern

i've tried to get into green lantern over the last year, but all the space bullshit is boring to me.
i like his symbol, so i stopped buying the comics but bought the t-shirt.

i wore it out last week to the gay drinking establishments i frequent, and at least eight people complimented the shirt and knew about green lantern.

sadly, the next night another guy showed up with the same shirt. so i probably won't wear mine anymore, for fear we'll both show up wearing it sometime.
i felt like a bit of a poser anyway, since i don't really give a shit about green lantern, i just like the shirt.

batman is a far better character, but i think batman shirts (with very few exceptions) are tacky.
wonder woman clothing is for would-be strippers who don't really have the bodies to show skin, and i can't really respect anybody who wears superman clothing. especially drug dealers or guys who wear it to the gym.

Well lets face it, nothing spells tacky like a pimp wearing a Green Lantern shirt. I could see a drug dealer wearing a Reverse-Flash shirt though.

Is Aquaman okay, or is he off limits?

Guilty, but then I'm strait so I'm not sure if I qualify.

I've worn my H&M Superman briefs to the gym, but only the guys at the locker room knew. Does that count?

It's no coincidence that the only people who put rings on over gloves are superheroes and drag queens.

You know how DC has the Daily Planet, Ferris Aircraft, and Arkham Asylum shirts?

Why the hell can't I get a polo shirt from them that's a mock up of an employee staff shirt for the Penguin's Iceberg Lounge?

That would be what pimps should wear.

All this space BS?

You might as well say you like the Flash but can't stand all this stuff about superspeed and a guy running.

If it was a bowling shirt, I'd want them on the back, yeah. Kinda like a gentleman's club looking thing (which it'd be, if it existed in the real world). Polo shirt just needs a penguin company logo, and the name.

There's plenty of possible designs, but yeah, up until now, I've been denied "Iceberg Lounge". Downer.

Green Lantern got a LOT of press a few years ago, when Winnick did the gaybashing story.

Since then, my main two gay friends have absolutely loved the character, regardless of if it's Hal or Kyle. They do prefer Kyle though, as he's apparently cuter, and probably bi.

Kyle is totally gay for Connor. I can't see it any other way.

At few years ago at a convention I bought a Green Lantern shirt and a Black and Red Superboy shirt like Connor wears...

The Green Lantern shirt got me a few questions. The Connor shirt got me laid....a few times...

I really need to wear that shirt more often.

Now that I think about it my Supes T was my lucky T.

For some reason women seemed to respond well to it.

A close second was my "Thundercats" T-shirt

See? It never fails,

Of course logos are the way to go, a more comic book-y look is far less appealing

There was a Green Arrow t-shirt with Ollie and Connor (the cover of Secret Origins I believe) but I passed it up because it was too comic-bookish.

Instead of shirts with characters on them, I prefer to go through the issues and try to buy clothes similar to what Connor wears. Only from the Smith/Winnick run though.

I can't stand how he dressed during the Dixon run and his hair had too much volume as well. He apparently had some big bad earthly attachment thing going with his blow dryer (no, it wasn't an afro either), so the bad hair became a characterization problem as well as an aesthetic one.

You know, I should probably add that I don't normally wear them when I'm going somewhere that isn't along the lines of a grocery store. Just before the tangent does go anywhere.

The picture is the same, but I think it took up the whole front of the shirt on the one I saw, and wasn't matted against that circle.

I like the one you posted better.

Kyle is totally gay for Connor. I can't see it any other way.

Actually, they wanted Kyle to hook up with Conner Kent.

They absolutely LOVED the DC Direct figure of Conner. It apparently looks like a popular gay porn star.

They also liked the figure of Kyle from the JLA series, in the Lee-designed uniform.

It scared me. I can't look at that figure the same way anymore
