Just as I thought. Not in continuity, just how it was supposed to be told. Sounds good.

Dang, it not going to affect OMD/BND world as I thought.
Still at least "you-know-who" got mentioned within the interview.

This is a good thing. It would cause too much new confusion to change ASM as it is now.

This. If Ben comes back in ASM, I'd rather it be based off of what we know as the Clone Saga from 1994-1996. It would feel almost like a payoff. I gave 2 years of my life to that story!

Pointless. I think Clone saga happened, marvel and fans totally erased that and now it´s back, totally pointless.

Yeah, but I would have thought that if Joe Q didn't want Peter and MJ to marry, then I guess it would be wrong for him to let them have a baby out of Wedlock right ?
I mean I would know from personal experience within my family. :frown:

But:
a) BND is happening as it was meant to, so that joke doesn't work.
b) I would hope not, because ASM is fantastic.

There's nothing "wrong" with it really, especially in this day and age. Unmarried couples raise children very often, and they do it just as well/badly as married couples.
But in an interview, Joe said he PERSONALLY considers the baby to be retconned out, as one of the very few side effects of the marriage.
But until that's mentioned int he comics, then yeah, they had a baby out of wedlock.

Great interview. And wow, new Scarlet Spider pages after all these years. Very excited about this project (in continuity or not)

TD: I see it as a rare opportunity to visit with old friends--both real and fictional--and I’m determined to make it sell so well that Marvel will be forced to published a new monthly title that stars Ben Reilly. Why not? If Spider-Girl can still be published after twelve years, Ben Reilly should be good for at least twenty-four
Tom Defalco is wise beyond his years and from what I can tell from this interview a master of the long lost ancient practice called common sense which has for a long time eluded the people in charge of mapping out Spidey's future and still does to this day.
Even though I hate what if stories (which is what this is as pretty much confirmed here) I may pick this up yet...............maybe not sure yet:confused:

I haven't been able to figure this out. Is this an "X-men Forever" alternate reality type thing, or is it set in the "real" 616 universe, and thus supplanting that clone saga?

It's simply a retelling of the Clone Saga. It's not replacing the 90's version, it's just a director's cut that is set out of continuity.
This is now proven by the new artwork of the Who is Ben Reilly arc in ASM, where it shows Ben still die and turn to dust.

Ok so now that there is no question on what this is all about (at least there shouldn't be) how many of you are gonna be picking this up?

I'll be buying this, too. It'd be nice if Reilly returned to the regular MU, but I'll take anything they are willing to offer right now.

I am going to buy it,not a big fan of the Clone Saga of the 90`s but i am interested to read how was the original Clone Saga story supposed to be written.
And since i think that the Clone event from the 70`s was a great story,i think this "directors cut" per say have potential to be a good Limited Series.
