Recently picked up a cheap copy of The Kingdom of Agarttha: A Journey Into The Hollow Earth by Victorian-era mystic The Marquis Alexandre Saint-Yves D'Alveydre.
He dedicates the book 'To the Sovereign Pontiff who wears the seven-crowned tiara of the current Brahatmah of the ancient metropolitan Paradesa of the Cycle of the Lamb and Aries.'
Y'gotta admit, it kinda makes 'To Mom' look a little flat...

My favorite dedication was used as someone's example of why one should always use the serial comma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_comma):
"I dedicate this book to my parents, God and Ayn Rand."

"YOU KNOW HOW IT IS. YOU PICK UP A BOOK, flip to the dedication, and find that, once again, the author has dedicated a book to someone else and not to you.
Not this time.
Because we haven't yet met/have only a glancing acquaintance/are just crazy about each other/haven't seen each other in much too long/are in some way related/will never meet, but will, I trust, despite that, always think fondly of each other!
This one's for you.
With you know what, and you probably know why."

I had almost forgotten about this one.
I was thinking of book dedications i have read, but after rereading the one above, it wins my vote.

My favorite book dedication was the one on the inside cover to Gail's "The Hypothetical Woman" TPB ... by Ray Tate!

I always liked that dedication, personally. :)
My WIP novel actually has dedications in it but my dedications always end up sounding like something somewhere between jokes old Hebrew men would tell and old Irish toasts.

I liked the one Dave Stevens wrote for the first Rocketeer collection: "To Mom and Dad -- Thanks for not selling me to the Gypsies."

Now I want Amy Sedaris and The Marquis to team up.
