I have been looking for some good WW tpbs for about a year, and there's nothing! There's that collection of "pantsuit" Diana in tpb but there are only a few hc's but no WW tpbs.

Why not? Anyone?

There're four O'Neil trades from the pantsuit era, four Perez trades covering his run, five or six Rucka trades, one Byrne trade, a "greatest hits" compilation, two Showcases, five Archives, and whatever's been collected out of the current run.

There are a few more runs that could stand to be collected, but I wouldn't say there are no Wonder Woman trades available.

Wow. I never see them at any bookstore. I see thousands of "Civil War" tie-in tpbs, zillions of old collections of JLA but never WW.

Of those, which would be worth getting?

Wonder Woman trades tend to only get one printing, usually a small one at that, so if you miss out, then your only recourse is ebay. Here is the list of trades published according to Wikipedia.

I suppose that's what I was asking. I never see any of those.

I have become interested in the Bolton cover era (and the idea of WW taking a job) and wonder if that is worth a buy? And is it collected?

I read most of the Rucka trades at the library. They were pretty good.

Loebs' run is perhaps my favorite of all the WW that I have read (admittedly, I haven't read any current WW from Rucka's run to now.)

Still, Loebs' stuff is real good and those Bolton covers are great.

I was in Chapters (which is the Canadian equivalent of Borders in the U.S.) on Wednesday night and decided to use the computer station they provide there to search for various authors, and for their work, at the store. It tells you what's available in-store as well as what's available to order.

Well, I typed in "Gail Simone" just to see if she'd ever written anything that wasn't a comic book. And ALL of these WW trades popped up on the screen. (As well as the "You'll All Be Sorry" book and trades of BoP, some Atom stuff, Secret Six, etc.)

So, they exist. You can buy 'em.

Maybe it's a conspiracy. Canadians have stolen all of the American copies of Wonder Woman trades in a mad scheme to get all Wonder Woman fans to move to Canada, in order to increase the country's per capita awesomeness.

Oh, don't be silly, Grazzt. In order for that to work, somebody would need to tell the Wonder Woman fans where the books were!

Completely unrelated to the above statement, I was at the Chapters at 189 Rathburn Rd W, Mississauga ON, L5B 4C1.

They traded two of the more famous stories a good while ago; one tends to doubt they'll revisit it any time soon. If the mirage of the Wonder Woman movie ever comes true, perhaps, they'll look back for new stuff to trade.

Anything with 'Perez', 'Rucka' or 'Simone'* on the cover is great. I've never read any Jimenez/Byrne/WML, and have only heard bad things about the collections for WML (although good stuff about what came before). JLA: A League of One is great as well.

Well theres your problem right there, if your going to a Borders or a Barnes and Noble, your not likely going to find much as there to busy jamming there shelves full of manga, when it comes to non manga comics most stores are going to have no more then a isle devoted to comic tbs, and usually only half an isle at that. So your selection is going to be limited. Any Wonder Woman stuff you likely to find are the classics collections or the more recent stuff by Gail. You're best bet is your local comic retailer, or if you don't have one, amazon.

As to what to get, well that depends on who's protrayel of Diana you like, but I would try some of these.....

Gods and Mortals: Perez first and the first in the volume II the beginings of the modern Wonder Woman, it's pretty much the comic that started the Wonder Woman we see today.

Eyes of the Gorgon: Ruckas best in my opinion, full of action, Diana takes on Medusa, the entire justice league, and briareos

The Circle: Gails first arc and Dodson's last, this one is pretty recent too so you might still be able to find this one in book stores.

I may look into those.

Actually yes, they were some of the first to be done, I have a copy of "The Contest" sitting in my collection to prove it. However they're fairly old, they were printed in the 90's so there not going to be easy to track down, you may have to have them specially ordered at a retailer.

They should make a TPB of the "12 Labors" storyline (http://comics.org/coverview.lasso?id=27460&zoom=4) from the '70s. That was a fun run of stories.

I was going to Barnes and Noble and the others. It just struck me as strange that Marvel collects Ms. Marvel and She Hulk but DC hasn't done much as far as tpb's on the same scale for WW. I can hit the Amazon "used" selections for a lot of those. Very helpful list. Thanks.

The earlier, non-traded stuff, from what I've seen is pretty cool. The traded stuff isn't that good, and the art is Mike Deadoto's worst.

Actually I've got to agree with Scotty here. Its typical 90's crap full of cyborg mafia hitman and Diana's running around dressed as a street walker. The only reason I even have the Contest in my collection is that it brings Artemis further into the fold.

otherwise I'd skip the WML and Bryne stuff altogether

For the best Wonder Woman stuff look for the works of George Perez, Phil Jimenez, Greg Rucka, and Gail Simone. Rucka being my personal favorite (sorry Gail, he's still my fav...but I still love your stuff too, honest!)

Any of it? I was reading some old reviews and it seemed that there was a more humorous take on Wonder Woman then.

Well how old are those reviews? Bare in mind there was a time when everyone was praising the works of Mcfarlane and Liefield...take any reviews you find from the 90's with a grain of salt.

I don't think i've read any of Rucka's run when did it start and who was the artist?

Rucka's run was from 2003 to 2006. The artists were Drew Johnson and Rags Morales. The five TPBs are Down to Earth, Bitter Rivals, Eyes of the Gorgon, Land of the Dead, and Mission's End. Rucka also did an original graphic novel, Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia, with artist J.G. Jones.

I strongly recommend Rucka's run to fans of the character. I especially liked his emphasis of Diana's connection to Greek mythology, the modernized versions of the Greek Gods, and the political sub-plots.
