Would you invest in an ETF or a closed-end mutual fund (maybe they'll give it the ticker "COMICS" or "COMIX") that invested in valuable, high-grade classic comics? And what effect do you think such a fund would have on the comics industry and comics collecting in general? Do you think it would drive up the prices of old comics or lower them?

You may ask yourself, "why is DL asking such a strange question."

Well, it was noted elsewhere that some very high closing bids were put in at some "high-grade" auctions on the Heritage auction site. One very odd one was for a 10.0 Wolverine #1 (from the 1981 limited series) that fetched $10,000. A discussion ensued about this bizarre turn of events... long story short, they have ETF's for gold, silver and oil, why not comics? Perhaps someone or some group is planning one... or perhaps it's just another sign that the dollar is in the crapper and we'll all need a wheelbarrow full of comics to buy a loaf of bread. :)

What do you think.

BTW, I should also mention that at that same auction a copy of Zap #1 (10.0) set an all time high closing price of $13,000 (it was a live auction with actual floor bids, in addition to web and phone bids).
