I recently got back into comics...when I use to collect in the late 80s and mids 90s I loved the X-cutioner's song crossover and the Age of apocalypse storyline. Recently I read the Messiah COmplex paperback and enjoyed it.....any other storylines recommended if I have been out the loop since the mid 90s????

I was pretty happy with x-men (not uncanny) up until it became legacy so those are worth checking out. I really like day of the atom, had some cool havoc moments in it and Juggernaut goes good which is fun.

For a twist, the first run of Ultimate X-men is fun, the stuff my mark millar, but it slowly (or not so slowly at times) goes way down hill.

If you like the character Angel, Angel revelations mini series that came out in tpb this year is fantastic with really cool art that is a bit different.

I also liked the decimation stuff(x-men that follows house of M) because it sets the tone for messiah complex if you liked that.

Agreed. I would also throw in the Messiah Complex TPB or hardcover, as that really shook the X-books up for the first time since Morrison's New X-men run and set the current status quo.
