Okay so we have a rough idea of what's to come in Utopia, the next big story arc. But unless the sheer awfulness of the plotlines causes time and space to implode their WILL be stories after Utopia. So what do you think/what would you like to see happen? Storywise so "Land leaving the book" doesn't count:biggrin:

I'll get the ball rolling, metaphorically with...

1: The return of Mr Sinister in a major storyline. We know he's got fail safes in place in the event of his death. Having him return with Miss Sinister as his pupil in evil would be the SEX. :biggrin: Two hot, creepy bondage outfit wearing masterminds with mind powers? DO WANT.

2: Pixie kills the Marvel Universe. In a storyline sure to have people talking Pixie procceeds to demonstrate how endlessly awesome and sparkly she is by killing every character ever, including Thanos, the Watcher and Galactus.

3: Northstar, Karma, Dazzler and Iceman quit being superheroes and decide to cash in on their reputations as gay icons, starting a "Mutant Eye for the Straight Guy" series. The money makes Warren feel jealous about no longer being the only rich guy on the team and he becomes sullen and abusive. Plus as the entire arc will revolve around fashion it'll let Land trace even MORE! Isn't that just WONDERFUL sweethearts?:evilsmile:

I'd like to see them stop depowering and screwing around with the female characters. I mean, really . . .
Rogue's lost her Ms. Marvel powers (I will give them bonus points for giving her control over her powers, though the pathos of the character is completely gone now that she isn't the person who can't ever touch anyone)
Rachel's powers have been downgraded
Storm's generally off in Wakanda and not around as much
X-23 and Wolfsbane are pretty much background filler in X-Force
Monet's only function in X-Factor seems to be to make snarky comments
They've seemingly killed off Lilandra (politically the most powerful woman in the X-verse)
Kitty's gone (which still ticks me off)
Jean's gone (though probably back for good anytime soon)
The only strong female in X-Men is Emma (whom I've never liked)

So it would be great if someone could start writing some great stories for the X-Women. The X-Men are not just Wolverine with Cyclops, Angel, Beast, et al as backup characters.

I think Magneto will definitely be in the picture after the Dark X-men sh*ttastic story. I don't even want to think about Dark X-men, I don't think it will interest me in the slightest. I think Maddie might succeed in making a clone but she'll disappear immediately leaving an unfinished story for at least a year. Psylocke will be azn. Karma will hook up with a bi-curious girl.

Why does Ennis hate Wolverine so much anyway?

He hates SUPERHEROES in general, and is not shy about saying that. Just look at the issue of Punisher where Daredevil, one of the best fighters in the Marvel universe, is easily knocked out, bound and gagged, and nearly killed by Frank Castle. He seems to like making heroes out to be chumps.

Or an even better example: The Boys. The JLA are a bunch of assholes and Superman frequently beats up the other members. The Teen Titans are a bunch of racists and perverts. The X-Men are like some sort of Mormon cult that brainwashes kids into becoming "superheroes". He just loves shitting all over "heroes".

Now see I like the Boys. I don't share Ennis's hatred of Superheroes but I can enjoy it as a parody of superheroes. Just like how, while I'm a bit of a sci-fi geek I can enjoy parody works of that. The idea that all super heroes are secretly assholes and there's a group of people including a psycho cockney a psycho french man a Japanese tyke bomb and a little scottish guy keeping them all reined in is one I like.

But Ennis seems to have a special hate for Wolverine. I mean he's portrayed "Heroic" characters in the past in a positive light. Is there anything particular about Wolverine he hates? (I'm guessing it's the hype around the character. Ennis has always struck me as a guy who likes to piss people off ;) )

Hey, I'm a HUGE Emma fan, and even I have to admit that she's getting way too much screen time recently, especially when people like Storm are being regulated to background corpses.

My prediction; San Francisco's mayor will be assassinated at the start of Utopia, mutants will be blamed, but by the end of the arc Scott will discover that the hit was ordered by Osborn(who manages to cover his ass so Scott can't prove it). As a result, SF will no longer be a safe haven for mutants. Also, the outing of X-Force, coupled with Emma's seeming betrayel, will lead to the X-Men declaring a vote of no confidence against Scott.

The team may then relocate to other places(Wakanda, the old Australian HQ, Savage Land). Nightcrawler will hook up with Captain Britain and reform Excalibur. Colossus and Magik will head out into space, meet up with the Starjammers and track down the Breakworld Bullet to save Kitt.
