DC's official Blog, the Source (http://dcublog.dccomics.com/2009/06/05/a-little-batman-and-robin-treat-for-you/), has provided a first look at the cover for Batman and Robin # 4's cover.

Here (http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o243/RonnieThunderbolts/bmrob-cv4.jpg) is a link to a larger version of the image.
There is also an pencil image of a variant cover by Philip Tan (the artist on issues 4-6).

Here (http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o243/RonnieThunderbolts/br004covers.jpg) is another link to a larger pic of the variant.
Nothing too shocking or "spoilery", except that it seems Sasha/Scarlet looks a like she endures the doll mask process before escaping Professor Pyg next issue.
It seems interesting that while the inside line art in issue 1 wasn't exactly smooth, the cover art has seemed noticeably more rough to me. Not bad mind you. but rough.
Thoughts on the cover?

My only thoughts are that I hope Scarlet is wearing hot pants and not a mini skirt (ugh) and that Damian looks really tiny. I keep forgetting how young he is.

I think this is the first cover that I have liked for the second I saw it, the first two had to grow on me, and I'm still not a fan of the third, but I dig this one.

This is the first time the Red Hood actually looks like he could put up a fight against Batman.
The battle of the Robins! I love it.

Poor Sasha... no wonder she sides with Hood.
I think that I liked the jacket and jeans look best for the Red Hood. He kind of looks like a safe sex mascot now...

They've announced the artists for which issues of the first year in several different interviews over the past month or two. These have all been confirmed, Quitely is doing 1-2, Philip Tan is doing 4-6, Frazer Irving is doing 7-9 and Quitely is returning for issues 10-12.

Philip Tan's cover for #4 is up on newsarama.!
I'm loving Quitely's interior art more and more...but at the same time I'm liking his covers less and less.
They're kind of boring, IMO.
Meh, I'll be checking out the variant covers for awhile, I think.

Philip Tan's cover for #4 is up on newsarama.!
As previously announced, Tan will be the interior artist for the series on issues #4-#6, and will provide variant covers for those issues as well, while Frank Quitely will provide the main covers for the series.
Yay for more Quitely covers! Although to be honest, I think I like that Tan cover a bit more. More actiony, flying off the page kinda thing.

I really like Philip Tab's cover! The best Quitely cover was #1. I haven't liked the other ones too much, although this one's pretty good.

I told you guys he was gonna do Batman justice.
Morrison pushes his artists like no other. Even Tony Daniel improved 100% under Morrison's pen.

Nothing against Tan, who I think is a great artist in his own right, but Quitely's cover there just blows his rough-sketch cover away.
Full body action shot with double-guns? Seen it. Ho-hum. Next?
Quitely's is definitely much more visually catching.

Love the Quitely cover. I hope this means he'll be doing the covers for the series, that will help lessen his absence inside the books until the last arc.
I'm also curious as to how the daughter of a mobster can suddenly turn into a fully trained non-powered super hero, but I suppose we're dealing with comic rules here.

I don't know about you folks, but seeing Scarlet/Sasha with her face deformed via the method Professor Pyg uses on his victims doesn't make me think Jason Todd is necessarily the Red Hood again. Oh sure, he might be, but if it turns out to be Joker, then you'd have two characters who are both facially "scarred" as an "anti-Batman and Robin." One, of course, being the Joker with his perma-clown features (not to mention the glasgow smile Morrison gave him) and now Scarlet whose face looks like a twisted Raddegy-Ann doll. On a symbolic level, it would make far more sense thematically.

I believe they more or less did say he is doing all the covers for the first 12 issues, from the Source (http://dcublog.dccomics.com/2009/06/05/want-another-batman-and-robin-4-cover-peek-sure-thats-doable/): "So, not only will you be getting Quitely cover goodness for the series, but Tan will be creating stunning variants for his time on interiors."

We know nothing of the character really. What little we know of the mobster you refer to, her father, is that his name is Niko, he worked with her "uncle" Lev (could be a term of familiarity from either family or a friend of the family), and they both worked for/with Mr. Toad. We also know they used "European circus slang" according to Dick, and that they are associated somehow with the Circus of Strange, along with Professor Pyg, the main villains of this arc. She could very well be a circus performer of some kind and it wouldn't be a huge leap. I don't believe it is inevitable or anything, but it seems very possible. If she does have a deeper connection to the circus it makes her partnership with the Red Hood as a Robin-like character echo that of Bruce and Dick, obviously. We'll have to see how she adapts to being a vigilante, we don't know enough to know how totally ridiculous it is.

That is true, they would share that in common, but it is only one way for Sasha to connect with her mentor. There are many ways she could have similarities with Jason. Sasha's "avenge my father" motives are very much in line with Jason (and the majority of the Bat-Family). Also, having a former Robin who is now the Red Hood team with a young partner who is called Scarlet recalls some classic literary figures. Plus, Jason has been going around looking for someone to be his "Robin" for a while now. I don't think it is impossible for the Red Hood to be the Joker, but I'm not convinced that there would be a more logical symbolic connection to the Joker due to her disfigurement. Interesting thoughts though.

The Philip Tan cover's fantastic......Definitely makes me wish it wasn't a variant.
Yeah...The more I'm looking at it, the less I like Red Hood's redesign.
Really though, it's horrible. If it weren't for the Punisher emblem, I'd give it a chance.

Nope. Hadn't had the time to got to my LCS since it's finals week for me. Wasn't sure if she was a pre-existing character from Morrison's run thus far or not. Mind elaborating a bit more than "A chick"?

We know next to nothing about her. Her name is Sasha, she appeared in Batman and Robin # 1 for the first time, her dad is named Niko, and the rest is all speculation/hints/from the book and solicitation. When you get a chance you should read the book, or in the meantime check out a thread about the issue with full spoilers.

I read most of the spoilers, just didn't mention her. Stuff about Toad, Dick doubting himself, and Dr. Pyg, nothing on her though. Probably going to pick it up this weekend though.

I like the new Red Hood design as a Quietly design for it's own version of the bat-verse, but I'm not sure it will appeal for a less marginal artist with sharper edges after his run.

My problem with the Red Hood redesign is Jason cut Batman's cape and boots away before in one of their fights because he views them as weaknesses and devices used by Batman he knows how to exploit. Why would he choose to also put on a cape if he thinks it's a liability?

I might agree with you if the Quietly cover didn't have the "Grows up!" on the cover. This makes me think the Red Hood story will be again Morrison making meta commentary about how grimdark stories are bad and how we should all return to the silverage. Kinda like Flex Mentallo. It wouldn't make sense if it was The Joker.
